If you pay much attention to other reviews you'll probably choose not to watch this, but it's really not that bad.
The actor playing the psychic is actually deaf IRL, which explains the signing between the players, and turns in a pretty good performance (certainly not a reason to laugh as another apparently ignorant reviewer wrote), and the other actors performed better than many big names would when simply delivering lines for the money.
There's a good twist at the end and all in all it's not the worst 90 minutes you've ever spent.

Although this is lower quality movie, and looks fake like most horrors, it obviously made effort in effects, story, acting, convincing. Psychic was the best. Perfect end for such fairytale. It definitely could be much better, show us more, but at least story has end and is explained unlike in worst horror movies. Not the worst. Good idea, story, and graphics. But not the movie I would wish to rewatch, and definitely not so scary. Too empty and passive, could be filled with more content.
Its a B rate film but it is entertaining, especially the psychic. As long as you dont expect box office horror and top rate acting, you'll probably be entertained and laugh a bit too!

It would be a 1 star bad acting, bad plot etc, but the psychic made me laugh so I gave it 2 stars.

The main problem with this movie is the production.
The story was interesting and the acting was good- although it was let down by poor directing and camera work.
The one thing this movie needed which was missing was suspense! It sort of meandered from one scene to the next with little or no build-up with each pivotal point being predictable.
The skill in camera work was also missing, as was the colour grading and overall feel of the film.
These things had nothing to do with the low budget and more with lack of attention to detail and skill.
This could be remade to be much, much better. Even so, if you can forgive this film a little it is still worth watching, but it plays more like a TV movie than a feature.

Starting from a bad premise, continuing with a very bad script, add some unworthy actors, stupid dialogues, and a messed up logic, and there you have it: the true definition of true garbage. Ok, the purpose of a movie is to entertain you, right? But no, you'll end up extremely nervous, praying to get back the time wasted for this trash. No credibility, no story, nothing. Move along guys, nothing good here...

While there is room for improvement...I was happily surprised. The psychic is actually the best character...he is clearly talented. Wish the movie was shot darker....showing more emotion from the parents as well as more of it taking place at night...would have added to the suspenseful nature of the story.
The movie is lame, the acting is horrible, the parents are weird, the writing is bad.. what a waist of time, skip skip skip.. to see the end.. and was also lame.
This is definitely a B rated horror film with some frills. The story was pretty good and easy to follow. The ending was expected given with what the parents was working with. Doubt a lot of parents would of done what needed to be done. The special affects were decent too, nothing too spectacular but it gets the story moving. Don't understand why people on here are making fun of the deaf psychic. His speech pattern was on point and it's how my deaf friends speaks. So I didn't think anything out of the norm. Also, the actor CJ Jones that plays the psychic is actually deaf in real life. So making fun of someone due to their disability is not cool. I still do recommend this film if you're bored and want to watch something new.

The movie itself is pretty bad but there is one glimmer of hope. I can't spoil anything here but the psychic is worth checking out the movie. I know it's very serious and the drama of movie is totally deep, but then the psychic opens his mouth and you remember this movie is pretty dumb. So sit back turn off your brain and just enjoy that guy.

I'm not sure why this film has such a low rating. I actually had low expectations when I came across it one day, but it really is well-written and the acting is very good. It won't win any Oscars, but it's a cut above most smaller budget horror films.
Some reviewers have commented on the deaf shaman and the use of sign language. This is not that common, yes, but the acting is good and he really sells his performance.
If you like a good film with a quirky twist or two, give this a try. The ending was a bit shocking and really tied things together perfectly.

The first 16 minutes are slow paced, but once the door is discovered this becomes a fun and suspenseful movie to watch. The best part about the movie is the psychic/ tarot card reader, Uriah is unique and unlike any other psychic I've seen in a movie. The ending is shocking, so don't leave before the credits start rolling.

The end of the film is shocking and unexpected !! Just good movie but not that good..
A deaf tarot card reader that communicates with everyone, including the "other side" using sign language, while dressed in a '70's New York City pimp/drug pusher costume.
I'm pretty sure the three main characters each chipped in fifty bucks and decided to make a movie while intoxicated.
Mystery Science Theatre could have a lot of fun mocking this one.

Once the cowboy hat makes an appearance then this film turns a massive corner from a spooky and fairly interesting ghost story with a lot of now-clichés, to an absolute comedy gem!!
Honestly, first the hat and then the bit in the woods with the table (you'll know what I mean when you see it) absolutely had me laughing SO HARD!! And I can't tell if it was intentional or not but my gosh it was funny!
On a serious note, the acting in general was pretty good as was the production and editing.
Just the way it unravelled had me doing that -laughing so hard that I coughed thingy.
Scooby DoobyDoo I need a poo.

The team behind this movie aren't that bad actually.
The story is only so so, and the acting is medioker but the production is solid.
Screenwriting, photo and editing is not bad at all. Not sure if that is enough to recommend the movie though.

So I was going to give this movie a 3 until the end...I'm adding one star for how it ends. I won't give it away, but it's like the opposite of most movies where you see people do the right thing. They didn't in this one and that makes it unique. That being said, if a network like Lifetime ever decided to show a horror movie, this would be it. The psychic character is very cheesy and takes up a large part of the movie, and it just makes me think of something they would show on lifetime. The movie isn't scary - it has some scenes that you think may be scary, and it had some that had the potential to be scary, but those scenes were "Lifetimed" too much. I'm torn on whether or not to actually recommend someone watch this. It's kind of unique, but in the end it's just a horror movie that isn't scary at all.

The title of the review pretty well sum it all up. The ideas in the movie have legs, but they fall completely short. The acting is some of the worst I've ever seen. Then cue the hallmark piano sample everytime there's a horribly acted "emotional" moment.
After seeing some of the ratings and reviews here I was worried. Now that I've seen it, I feel compelled to write this review to balance all the lower ratings and negative reviews. This movie has nothing gross or shocking for fans of horror movies who need those things. The acting is good, and the horror is subtle, building the mood, creating dread, and ending with a great twist. I quickly loved the characters and their quirks. The use of the deaf psychic feels like an homage to Stephen King and the helpers he often has in his stories. The unique use of sign-language symbolized for me all the supernatural things around us that we can't easily communicate with. I was impressed with how empathetic the parents are with their son's difficulties and how well the parents work together, something I wish we could see more of in movies. I also liked that the tension in the story isn't within the family, it's between the family and the Evil Thing, where it belongs. This movie is simple and relatively short, but it has heart and a great sense of foreboding. I love how the last scene left me satisfied, but also felt like something Evil had given the audience a slow wink with a creepy smile. I won't look at a slim, bright red door the same way again... Well done.

It's VERY low budget but the story is enough to keep you interested to the end. The filmmakers worked hard with the little that they had and it should. A for effort.
Ending is very dark but cool.

Let me start off by saying that the deaf actor who played the psychic did the best job. Having said that, I must say that this was quite a lousy movie. The plot was really poor. We are never told what is wrong with the boy anyway. Looking at the drawings he made though, it has to be a *character* defect, not any mental disability. Neither he nor his parents were likable in the least. I was especially appalled by the ending, and am shocked at the rave reviews by other viewers here. Doesn't anyone have any moral values anymore?!! All in all, I would *not* recommend this movie to anyone with even a scintilla of decency.
