Good daytime feelgood movie

Enjoyable movie. Well acted. Good true story about education. Quite predictable, with a few turns that make it interesting. Well worth a watch.

not a filmographic or scriptous hairraiser, but nice

I dove into this one due to a well made poster, and interesting plot summary, and it ended up quite satisfying. thats due to good acting, and a phonomenal choice of music that makes this rather dull political fight into a well ducted and freestreaming experience to watch.

school systems are different wherever you go, the us system are and the dc system are far away from the norwegian schoolsystem, and when i see difficult it is to change a simple thing, i do understand why they fight and also why the majority give up already in the start pit. i will say norwegian schools are better organized , they are free and you have the opportunity to choose from a young age.

if youre in for a filmatic feinschmaecker, just pass this one , because this is a film that screams ''we shall win'' from start to end. the grumpy old man thinks there are just a bit to much '' as prescribed''-in the script, in this movie, but its entertainment for a lacy autumn afternoon in the couch for me and my wife. a 6 out of ten it is.

Incredibly Inspiring and Exciting

This film is so uplifting Uzo plays a mother who against all odds works to get her son into a school where he can thrive. the multiple dramas a work provide a suspense and humor. Still, your heart will fall as Uzo is smashed down by those who simply don't care and those who don't want her to succeed. Yet the community rallies around her and she rallies them to win out. So heartwarming to see this true story. And to know that 11,00 kids have had their lives turned around as a result of Virginia's heroism.

Black schools

Well dramatized and little known facts about dysfunctional black inner city schools. Uzu Aduba does a good job.

Uzo is amazing. Also - this review explains the otherwise low rating this film has.

Great Movie with Important History

This was a great movie and really highlighted how important local government is and advocacy. It also spoke of the hardships a lot of folks have to navigate in neighborhoods that are under resourced and undeserved. The acting was also great. Highly recommend it.

Uzo Aduba is worth the price of admission

Uzo Aduba is an excellent actor, she made the movie better than it was. The music was uplifting and inspiring.

BEAUTIFULLY DONE - Based on Virginia Walden, the real person

Wow. "Kids Come First!" ... Ashay and Amen.

Until today I did not know about Virginia Walden and the work for kids' EDUCATION that she has led, coordinated, and facilitated. ... Am *thankful* to have somehow come across this movie, "Miss Virginia." ... This extraordinary person began a huge uphill battle overcoming massive barriers for K - 12 education for resource-poor families in DC. She is still working for quality education for school kids in concrete and measurable ways, such as scholarships to proper, high-quality schools.

The movie has Class-A top-notch Actors, so spectacular that you cannot "see" the acting, i.e., it's not "fake" or "pretend." It is Heartfelt and Real. Watching it we can tell it was truly a Labor of Love. ... This includes the high caliber of the little kids, teens, and all the adults. ... Please see this film. -- You will Love it.

This is an amazing true story to watch

When I read the article, the description about "Miss Virginia" blew me away. I can't believe, of what this incredible woman did for all those children for The Bored of Education in Washington, D. C. It was just, just outstanding, amazing, unbelievable!

Excellent!

Excellent Movie! I really enjoy watching films where you feel the hope and pain of the characters. This was an excellent movie from the start to the end.
