Karthik and Revathy make a fine pair . Both started at the same time .Here both are college mates and fall in love after a few duets and pranks . Karthik is taken to jail for 4-5 years as he burns a fellow student's face albeit unwittingly . Revathy loses her father and goes to Chennai in search of a job.
Karthik returns back from jail and goes in search of her. He does find her but as Nizhalgal Ravis wife . He is a captain . Karthik meets her and says he loves her . she too reciprocates. Both decide to run away but the good captain has a heart attack and she has to stay back and take care of him .
Slowly she realises that she indeed loves her husband . Karthik too realises this after some violence and turmoil. He goes away leaving the path smooth for Revathy and Captian . Karthik is as usual good in his game of an angry and confused young man unable to understand why Revathy is keeping vows for her husband .
Ravi and Revathy compliment each other perfectly . In the end ,you pity Karthik - the nonchalant college boy who matures over night and goes away out of his own volition . A lot of emphasis is laid on mangalsutra , poojas , marriage rituals , female sentiments .
