If you can deal with scenes involving the dissection of human body and are a fan of medical dramas that involve inspiring content and amazing actors then this series is the right place for you to come to.
I actually enjoyed this season more than the previous one, although I do miss some of the characters and loved to see the guess appearance of my beloved Yang Se Jong.
The first one was a bit more frustrating to me because they kept dragging the inability of some of the doctors to perform, and it got a bit too repetitive and tedious.
But in general the saga is entertaining and I love to keep watching cases coming and being solved.
I really enjoyed the love story in this second season as well, I thought it was very well developed and never too centric to the series.
I am looking forward to the 3rd season now, but Im sure it won't disappoint!

Well the title suggests a light fluffy romantic piece but this series is in fact a brilliantly acted edge of your seat hospital drama. A wrongly disgraced doctor works at a small local hospital where his brilliance attracts young like minded talent. The characters in this drama all have excellent back stories and the incidents that happen daily with death and trauma make for riveting and often emotional viewing.
This is very possibly the best Korean drama. The story follows an estranged surgeon Kim Sabu who works in a village hospital. He has a strong set of moral values and impressive skills that attract young doctors; he also 'picks up' those doctors that are discouraged or dishonored when he sees potential in them. Result: a brilliant team of doctors and nurses that work day and night to save lives.
The "romantic" in the title has very little to do with romance between couples, much more to do with romanticizing life and its meaning. Doctor Kim is romantic because he lives his life following his values and feelings, he saves his patients with his skills and feelings alike. It makes young aspiring talents gravitate to him. He gives them both comfort and knowledge- and fertile ground to grow.
Of course, there is a romance story- what kind of 'romantic life' doesn't have some romance in it. Story of Seo Woojin and Cha Eunjae is so well-paced and they feel so natural- super refreshing after so many stiff kdrama couples. However, this is a medical drama first, so romance scenes are not as prominent (an FYI for kdrama fans).
His pupils imitate this romance, each in their own way. My favorite story is that of doctor Seo Woojin in S2, who grew up without love, but then managed to find a fatherly figure in Kim, romance towards medicine as his calling, romantic partner in doctor Cha, and a full family in the rest of the staff. He had a lot of reasons to give up- but he doesn't- he carries his past trauma with such strength and gives himself a normal, healthy life.
Of course, one could say that all this is unrealistic, that people who live like this do not exist. I have to disagree- I met a few people like this. They are extremely rare gems that shine bright when it's the darkest, and they persevere, no matter what. It's an absolute privilege to witness people like that, both in real life, and in a drama.

I have seen all three DR. ROMANTIC seasons and am wanting a season 4!! It couldn't come soon enough as this series has the most incredible actors and directors, writers, photography of real or implied surgeries, and music to enhance it all. BRAVO!!!! Every episode was thrilling, gutsy, and heart-wrenching at times. Each character was so well-written, the actors were perfectly cast. The romances were sweet, but not the focus. The little daughter Byeol stole that episode 6 for me. What a cute and professional little actress!! The wonderful surprises at the final episodes were also a plus...perhaps leading into a final season? Han Seik Kyu (Master Kim) is my favorite veteran actor - so natural and heartfelt. EVERYONE from Season 2 got even better this season. Thank you to all!!!
