In fact, Vedha’s character is introduced with this dialogue, “Ek kahani sunaoon?” that sets the tone and an assurance of interesting chapters within the cop-gangster saga.

For starters, Vikam Vedha takes its basic premise from the mythological tale of Baital Pachisi aka Vikram-Betaal. Pushkar-Gayathri have picked up a gruelling premise and presented an interesting, tangled take on the same in the form of this cop-gangster face-off.

Mumbai, Sep 29 (Ians) At a time when only content from South India seems to be working at the box office, Bollywood has come up with a story in the form of ‘Vikram Vedha’, which has its roots in a Tamil hit film and a two-hero structure much like the earlier release of this year, ‘Rrr’, which turned out to be a blockbuster.

The film, which has two of Bollywood’s best-looking men — Saif Ali Khan and Hrithik Roshan — in titular roles, is a remake of the 2017 Tamil film of the same name, which saw Tamil cinema’s Makkal Selvan (‘national treasure’) Vijay Sethupathi and R. Madhavan in action.

To mark the release of Vikram Vedha – the new remake of the 2017 production – we had the pleasure in speaking to the star of the show, Saif Ali Khan. The performer, who is Bollywood royalty, as well as actual royalty, stars alongside Hrithik Roshan, and when we spoke to him via Zoom, he told us all about his experience collaborating with the esteemed performer for the first time in many years.

The makers of director Siruthai Siva’s upcoming magnum opus, featuring actor Suriya in the lead, have asked those illegally uploading and sharing pictures and videos they’ve shot on the sets of the film not to do so and warned of strict legal action if the request is ignored.

Actor Suriya began shooting for director Siva’s upcoming action entertainer, tentatively titled #Suriya42, on Wednesday.

The film was formally flagged off with a pooja ceremony on Sunday. Taking to Twitter, Suriya said: “Shoot begins! Need all your blessings!”

After Bollywood star Hrithik Roshan’s recent online food delivery firm Zomato’s advertisement sparked a religious controversy, the Confederation of All India Traders (Cait) has accused the actor and the food delivery app for “misleading and cheating the people” through the advertisement.

Cait has also written to Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan to demand action against Hrithik and Zomato.

Exclusive: Deadline can reveal a first look at Bollywood star Hrithik Roshan in Vikram Vedha, a Hindi remake of the blockbuster Tamil neo-noir crime thriller of the same name. Scroll down to see the image in full.

The image was unveiled by the producers, T-Series and Reliance Entertainment, to mark the actor’s birthday.

The remake stars Roshan alongside Saif Ali Khan as the leads, with Radhika Apte also in a key role. Original writer-director duo Pushkar and Gayatri return to helm the new film.

Based on the Indian meta-folktale Vikram aur Betaal, the movie tells the story of a tough police officer who sets out to track down and kill an equally tough gangster.

The original Tamil pic starred R. Madhavan and Vijay Sethupathi. It was one of the biggest Tamil hits of 2017, performing well both in India and abroad.

Saif Ali Khan (“Bunty Aur Babli 2”) has wrapped a 19-day filming schedule in the northern Indian city of Lucknow for Bollywood film “Vikram Vedha.” Also starring Hrithik Roshan (“War”), the film shot its first schedule in Abu Dhabi.

The film, which also stars Radhika Apte (“Raat Akeli Hai”) in a pivotal role, is a remake of 2017 Tamil-language hit “Vikram Vedha,” directed by writer-directors Pushkar and Gayatri and starring R. Madhavan and Vijay Sethupathi.

Pushkar and Gayatri are also helming the Hindi-language Bollywood adaptation. The film, a neo-noir action thriller based on the Indian folktale “Vikram aur Betaal,” tells the story of a tough police officer who sets out to track down and kill an equally tough gangster.

The film is produced by T-Series and Reliance Entertainment in association with Friday Filmworks and Ynot Studios. Producers include Bhushan Kumar, S. Sashikanth and Bhushan Kumar.

Bollywood film “Vikram Vedha,” starring Hrithik Roshan and Saif Ali Khan, has wrapped its first shooting schedule in Abu Dhabi and commenced the second one in Lucknow, India.
