Sony is bringing Resident Evil back to the big screen, and it’s happening sooner than you might think. The studio has locked in a release date of September 18, 2026, for a fresh take on the classic horror franchise.
This isn’t just another reboot to toss into the pile—they’ve tapped Zach Cregger, the guy behind the creepy hit Barbarian, to write and direct it. If you’ve seen his work, you know he’s got a knack for keeping us on edge.
What’s the big deal here? This movie is aiming to ditch the action-heavy vibe of past Resident Evil films and dive deep into the horror that made the original Capcom games so unforgettable.
Think dark corridors, jump scares, and that eerie survival vibe from the 1996 classic—I’m already getting chills imagining it. Cregger’s a self-proclaimed fan of the series, so we might finally...

This March, a lot of action fans will get their chance to see John Wick for the first time on the big screen. Not because they missed the films when they played in theaters, but because the John Wick film series never played in their nearest multiplex – until now. It's hard to believe, but there are some audiences with access to movie theaters who have never gotten a chance to see Keanu Reeves do his gun-fu thing on the big screen.
More than a decade after the first film was released, and two years after the fourth John Wick film ended its theatrical run worldwide, Chinese audiences will get their fix with John Wick 4. Starting March 14, audiences in China will get the chance to see John Wick: Chapter 4 in theaters. Not only is it the first time a John Wick movie will play in Chinese theaters, but it...

TheJohn Wick franchise has become one of Hollywood's biggest recent successes. Despite lacking an established intellectual property, the movies broke through in a space increasingly ruled by sequels and adaptations. With Keanu Reeves as the leading man, the movies feature action and a complicated political scene that only gets more complicated with every new release. The world has even begun to expand, thanks to the success of its recent spin-off, The Continental: From the World of John Wick. Having been released on Peacock and Prime Video, it showcased the Continental Hotel long before John Wick's retirement.
Though John Wick managed to set itself apart, there were places where it fell into the realm of traditional action. The gun-fu fighting style was new, but the hero himself was not.

In November, a new type of content studio, Promise, was launched. Backed by high-profile investors, including producer Peter Chernin, Promise announced at its outset that it aimed to produce film and TV series by incorporating generative artificial intelligence tools into its production workflow, partly by utilizing its proprietary software Muse.
The company has promoted itself as being creator-led, looking to put filmmakers at the center of its projects rather than replacing them, with part of its strategy being to streamline the future collaborations between traditional Hollywood creators and top Gen AI artists.
That sounds good — or, to AI-skeptics, like a less scary version of a Gen AI future — but like all things surrounding a new technology that we are told will completely disrupt how films and TV are made, it’s hard to envision what a future-facing content studio like Promise would look like or even how it would operate.

Let’s rewind to 1994. Speed became an instant classic, throwing us into the high-stakes drama of a bus wired to explode if it dropped below 50 mph. It had it all—especially Keanu Reeves as the heroic cop Jack Traven, Sandra Bullock as the witty passenger Annie Porter, and a plot that kept us hooked.
Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock in Speed (Credits: 20th Century Studios)
Naturally, fans couldn’t wait for a sequel. But then came Speed 2: Cruise Control in 1997. And, well it wasn’t what anyone hoped for. The high-speed bus was swapped for a slow-moving cruise ship, and Reeves didn’t return.
So, why did our beloved Jack Traven ditch the sequel, leaving Annie Porter to awkwardly flirt with a new guy? Turns out, the lead star had some solid reasons, and honestly? He dodged a bullet—or maybe a sinking ship.

John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum producer Basil Iwanyk shares a new explanation about why Winston shoots John at the end of the movie. Directed by franchise veteran Chad Stahelski, the third installment in the hit franchise sees Keanu Reeves return as Wick to fend off an army of assassins after the High Table places a bounty on his head. The John Wick 3 ending memorably features Wick seemingly emerging victorious before Winston (Ian McShane), in a bid to regain control of his Continental hotel, shoots John off a rooftop.
In a new interview with The Direct, Iwanyk, who produced all four films in the franchise, breaks down Winston's decision during the final moments of John Wick 3. The producer provides a more overarching explanation, which includes the general ethos for all characters in the John Wick assassin universe, but also dives deep into the Winston and John dynamic and...

2025 is shaping up to be a phenomenal year for action blockbuster releases, with one particular highlight being the first John Wick spinoff film, From the World of John Wick: Ballerina. Directed by Len Wiseman and produced by mainline series director Chad Stahelski, the film takes place between the events of John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum and John Wick: Chapter 4, with Ana de Armas starring as the titular character Eve Macarro. Eve is on her own quest for revenge in the film, with the initial trailer showcasing visceral and grounded action not too dissimilar to what's seen in the John Wick films.
Thanks to USA Today, fans have a new look at the film. The new image (seen below) showcases de Armas' character, Eve, facing off against an unknown assailant. The movie is steeped heavily into the lore of the John Wick films, featuring a cameo from Keanu Reeves as the Baba Yaga himself,...

From the World of John Wick: Ballerina cut a fight scene between Winston (Ian McShane) and Eve Macarro (Ana de Armas), and McShane is not happy about it. Set between John Wick 3 and 4, the upcoming spinoff brings Keanu Reeves back to the franchise, following de Armas' assassin, a girl who witnessed her father's death and became involved in the underground world. The movie, which will hit the theaters on June 6, 2025, will also feature the familiar faces of Charon (Lance Reddick) and The Director (Anjelica Huston).
In an interview with Collider, de Armas and McShane reveal a cut scene between Eve and Winston that won't be in the final movie. Since the first film premiered in 2014, the John Wick franchise has become a massive success. The series started with the title character (Keanu Reeves) as a former hitman who is out to seek vengeance on the people who broke into his house, stole his car, and killed his dog. Filled with intense action sequences, fabulous visuals, and fantastic performances, it’s no wonder John Wick has enjoyed tremendous success. It is widely considered to be one of the best modern-day action movie franchises.
Fans tend to want to go back and rewatch the thrill rides that are the John Wick films often but finding them on streaming services can be a bit tough. Like so many other film franchises, the series is known to move around and switch platforms from time to time. There will be plenty of action to expect in the upcoming John Wick spinoff film Ballerina. However, one exciting fight scene didn't make the cut.
Set to hit theaters this summer, Ballerina features Ana de Armas in the lead role. There are some familiar faces from the John Wick franchise popping up in the film, including Ian McShane's Winston. While de Armas and McShane will be sharing the screen in Ballerina, a notable fight scene involving the two was scrapped from the final cut of the film, as the two revealed in a new interview with Collider.

Keanu Reeves may be one of the most beloved movie stars currently working, beloved more for his real-life personality and well-documented generosity than he is for his range as an actor. Reeves has a talent for playing taciturn action heroes and comic foils but tends to flounder when asked to play richer, more sophisticated characters. Compare his hilarious turn in "Always Be My Maybe," or his impressive physical performances in the "John Wick" movies to, say, "Bram Stoker's Dracula" wherein he struggles to keep his British accent.
Moreso than his acting, though, Reeves seems to be loved for being a fathomlessly decent human being. He runs his own leukemia charity. When he caught people trespassing on his property, he invited them in for drinks. He famously gives expensive gifts to the crewmates on many of his movies, like Rolex watches for the "John Wick" crew, or motorcycles for the stunt...

Ana de Armas is stepping into the John Wick universe with Ballerina, an action-packed spinoff film that promises to expand the franchise’s intricate world of assassins while carving out its own unique identity.

As its name implies, From the World of John Wick: Ballerina will feel right at home in the Baba Yaga's universe.
Director Len Wiseman and the Ballerina cast recently spoke with IGN about the franchise's new spinoff and how Eve Maccaro's story will embrace John Wick's mythos while still feeling like its own thing. "One of the things that is very special about the franchise is the mythology and the worldbuilding," Wiseman said, revealing that he frequently spoke with Keanu Reeves and John Wick director Chad Stahelski about striking the right balance between originality and familiar lore elements. "We'd say 'what if we developed this section that's new to the world?' And so it is a balance. It's fun. I love worldbuilding. So it's challenging, but it's a lot of fun as well," he continued.

People keep asking if Keanu Reeves is back (in John Wick) and, unfortunately, it seems he really does have an answer.
Speaking to CBS News in a recent interview alongside Sonic the Hedgehog 3 director Jeff Fowler, The Matrix star was asked about the state of his vengeance-driven hitman in the neo-noir film franchise.
“You can never say never, but my knees right now are saying, ‘You can’t do another John Wick,'” the actor, who voices Sonic alter-ego and enemy Shadow in the animated threequel, said. “So my heart does [want to], but I don’t know if my knees can do it.”
Fowler jumped in, joking that Reeves will portray the animal cartoon character for the next 20 years instead: “Which is why you can voice Shadow for, like, decades to come. No physical limitations! Just your voice.”

Though John Wick: Chapter 4 was a nearly perfect sendoff to Keanu Reeves' titular character, it missed a perfect opportunity to set up his replacement in the franchise. The ending of John Wick: Chapter 4 likely saw John Wick's death, which put the future of the franchise in jeopardy. Though there are several upcoming John Wick spinoffs in the works, the series is left without its main star, and without a new character to take his place. Even though John Wick: Chapter 5 is on the horizon, it's not clear how the action franchise will fare without Reeves.

While the future of the John Wick character is a bit uncertain following his fate in John Wick: Chapter 4, Keanu Reeves will still be seen back in the role on the big screen next year. Ana de Armas will star in the spinoff film, From the World of John Wick: Ballerina, and as a prequel to Chapter 4, it will feature Reeves as Wick.
At Ccxp in São Paulo, Lionsgate unveiled a new extended preview for Ballerina. The video features some new footage from behind the scenes, sharing more insight into the production of the spinoff. Ana de Armas' training for the movie's intense sequences is put on display, and it's hinted by the preview that the spinoff will have the same gritty, action-packed tone of the other John Wick films. New footage is also featured, which includes a sneak peek at the return of Reeves' John Wick from the character's cameo.

"This is not a female John Wick." So says director Len Wiseman at the start of the freshly dropped Ccxp behind the scenes look at his upcoming actioner Ballerina, the latest off-shoot from the John Wick universe. But while that's certainly true — this movie is set to represent the introduction point for Ana De Armas' Eve Macarro, the Ruska Roma trained dancing assassin who'll be bringing a whole new meaning to the expression 'bullet ballet' in Lionsgate's hotly anticipated John Wick: Chapter 3 — Parabellum and Chapter 4 midquel — it doesn't mean the ever-expanding Jwu's latest lead is any less formidable than Keanu Reeves' Baba Yaga. Quite the opposite in fact. Just check out the featurette below to see what we mean:
Much of the emphasis here is on how Ballerina is set to expand the Wickiverse, with the likes of franchise godhead Chad Stahelski, director Wiseman, and the late, great...

Two talented mixed martial artists received much better roles in the third John Wick movie than they did in the Star Wars franchise. The John Wick movies are known for their impressive action, and actors Yayan Ruhian and Cecep Arif Rahman help provide one of the most impressive fight scenes in the series. During the climax of John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum, Keanu Reeves' John Wick battles against two assassins played by Yayan Ruhian and Rahman, who are both Indonesian actors and mixed martial artists.
The actors use their impressive skills in mixed martial arts to provide one of the best John Wick fight scenes. The fight scene between the three warriors was instantly very memorable, but was also a reminder of Yayan Ruhian and Rahman's disappointing roles in the Star Wars franchise. One of the most haunting science fiction movies in the repertoire of The Matrix star Keanu Reeves has found a new streaming home, and is all set to disturb audiences accordingly. Released back in 2006, A Scanner Darkly transforms the 1977 novel by Philip K. Dick into a warped, ethereal journey through the broken mind of Reeves drug addict as he attempts to navigate a dystopian nightmare.
Written and directed by Academy Award nominee Richard Linklater, A Scanner Darkly features an all-star cast alongside Reeves, including Robert Downey Jr., Woody Harrelson, and Winona Ryder. This twisted tale of identity and deception is all set to stream on Prime Video from December 1, and applies rotoscope animation, mutating Reeves and the rest into distorted cartoons and providing a unique psychedelic cinematic experience. The upcoming John Wick spinoff Ballerina, which stars Ana De Armas as the titular assassin, became the subject of much online chatter in the last few months thanks to reports that the movie had undergone some extensive reshoots. Those reports suggested that John Wick franchise mastermind Chad Stahelski had stepped in to rework the movie, taking over some of the directorial duties from Len Wiseman. While those reports were not quite accurate, Wiseman has now followed up on previous clarifications with the real reason behind the additional shooting.
The John Wick franchise has delivered some blistering performances from the likes of Keanu Reeves, Ian McShane, Halle Berry, and many more, with each of the four movies building on the previous in terms of success. While spinoff prequel series The Continental did not quite hit the mark for many, there are now some high expectations resting on the shoulders of de...

John Wick: Chapter 4 is famous for its brutal cold opening where Keanu Reeve's titular assassin makes another trip into the desert. This time, he doesn't pass out mid-way. He rides a horse and hunts down the Elder's men right into the heart of Morocco where the Elder resides, and requests to have his ring returned to him. However, instead of being greeted in a real tent by a familiar face (Said Taghmaoui), John Wick is greeted by a new Elder (George Georgiou), who's exposed in the desert. The new Elder tells Wick that he doesn't have the ring and reminds him of his inevitable fate as an assassin in the world run by the High Table.
There's very little Wick can do about this situation, but he can very well kill the Elder with a headshot. The Elder's death kicks off John Wick's bloody trail toward freedom in the fourth installment.

Beloved actor Keanu Reeves is known for some of the best movies in both the sci-fi and action genres, including the likes of The Matrix, and the John Wick franchise. And its now streaming for free.

Keanu Reeves might not have returned as John Wick for Ballerina if Ana de Armas hadn't been cast as the title character. Franchise producer Basil Iwanyk recently explained how de Armas was instrumental in getting Reeves to appear in the first John Wick spinoff movie.
Speaking with MovieWeb, Iwanyk revealed that de Armas did not have to audition for the role of Eve Macarro, confirming that it was offered to her through her agents. "She's a huge fan of the franchise," he explained. "At that point, frankly, we didn't even know if Keanu would be in the movie." The producer shared that de Armas took it upon herself to nudge Reeves in the right direction, adding, "And then when we talked about getting Keanu into the movie, she'd known Keanu for years and kind of helped to reach out and go, 'Let's do this, come on, it's gonna be fun.

At the recent screening of John Wick for the 10th anniversary of the action movie smash hit, star Ian McShane heaped praise on his co-star, the late, great Lance Reddick. The actor, who was also known for roles in the likes of The Wire and White House Down, tragically died suddenly on March 17, 2023, aged 60, from coronary artery disease and atherosclerotic heart disease. McShane, who shared the stage with John Wick lead Keanu Reeves, teased the upcoming spin-off From the World of John Wick: Ballerina (via Discussing Film), which will feature Reddicks final performance and the last time audiences will see his character, Charon, share the screen with McShanes Winston Scott.

The upcoming John Wick anime risks ruining a major part of Keanu Reeves' eponymous assassin and the entire franchise as a whole. There are several planned John Wick spinoffs in the works, from Ana de Armas' Ballerina to a show titled John Wick: Under the High Table. One of the upcoming spinoffs, the John Wick anime series, could easily ruin part of John's character, even though he supposedly died at the end of John Wick: Chapter 4. There aren't many confirmed details about the anime yet, but one such detail hinted that it will depict a very important moment in John's life.

Since the character's debut in 2014, John Wick has quickly become one of the most popular action-movie antagonists of all time, thanks in no small part to Keanu Reeves's hitman's lethal prowess with a seemingly endless variety of firearms. Throughout the four John Wick movies, the titular assassin has used a wide variety of weapons to kill off his enemies, and he doesn't just stick to guns, either. Swords, knives, his car, and even a pencil are all used by Keanu Reeves' assassin with incredibly deadly proficiency.
Despite John Wick mastering many martial arts styles and close-quarters weapons, he's also more than happy to take out his foes with bullets when needed. Many of these John Wick weapons are incredibly powerful, while others are only deadly because they're being used personally by Wick, who is a master when it comes to thinking outside the box. Whether it's a high-powered assault rifle or a simple pencil,...

It seems John Wick's franchise director heard Halle Berry's push for a potential spinoff based on her Chapter 3 - Parabellum character, Sofia Al-Azwar. Chad Stahelski offers a hopeful update on a possible film centered around Berry.

There have been whispers of a Halle Berry-led Sofia spin-off set within the John Wick universe since the premiere of John Wick: Chapter 3, but there has yet to be any official announcement on the project or confirmation that it's in development. However, during a recent THR interview, John Wick director Chad Stahelski provided a hopeful update on the prospect of reuniting with Berry for a Sofia-focused spin-off, praising her and other previous John Wick co-stars:...

Despite its somewhat wordy title, From the World of John Wick: Ballerina is generating a great deal of excitement among action fans. The first trailer impressed and, following her memorable role in No Time to Die, this feels like the perfect project to cement Ana de Armas as a badass lead.
Underworld and Total Recall helmer Len Wiseman being tapped to direct raised eyebrows from the start given his hit-and-miss track record. Now, a new report from The Wrap (via ActioNewz.com) suggests he struggled to deliver on the John Wick franchise's promise of top-notch fight scenes.
The trade reveals that John Wick franchise helmer Chad Stahelski was enlisted to reshoot the majority of Ballerina (explaining its release date delay). The filmmaker came on board to improve the action and, as a result, additional photography was extensive.
There's even chatter on social media that Stahelski could have a "Directed by" credit if he wanted.
