Oh, well! You know what they say: If you want a movie loved right, then you have to throw your own bra at it.

Exclusive: The new docuseries Not Part of the Plan exploring the lives of four queer Mormon teens from executive producers Wilson Cruz (Visible: Out on Television), Amy Redford (The Lincoln Project), Xan Parker (Ron Howard’s Rebuilding Paradise) and Hadleigh Arnst, is currently being shopped. The six-episode project (plus one bonus episode) was directed by Stephen Frandsen (Duck Beach to Eternity).

The first season was filmed over two years following the lives of four queer teens in Utah’s Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Season 2 consists of a whopping 20 episodes to air weekly on Hulu.

Exclusive: Bella Heathcote (Pieces of Her) and Asif Ali (Don’t Worry Darling) will lead the survival drama Roof, marking the directorial debut of Salvatore Sciortino, which has wrapped production in Los Angeles.

The films tells the story of two co-workers who accidentally get locked on the roof of a skyscraper during the hottest holiday weekend in years. Lacking any water and unable to communicate with the outside world, they attempt increasingly dangerous ways to escape as their health rapidly deteriorates in the heat. At the same time, an unexpected friendship blooms as they mutually realize just how badly they have wrecked their lives.

Josh Tate wrote the script and is producing alongside recent Sundance Producing Lab Fellow, Austin Sepulveda. The film was supported by a grant from Curt Willis and the Visit Knoxville Film Office, with part of the shoot having taken place in Knoxville.

The original Wonder Woman, who led the TV series of the same name from 1975 to 1979, tweeted “Happy Pride! So excited to celebrate with all my Lgbtqia+ friends and fans” with an illustration of the DC superhero with a rainbow background.

Billy Porter (Pose) and Luke Evans (Nine Perfect Strangers) have signed on to star in the drama Our Son, from director Bill Oliver (Jonathan).

The Justice League Dark has conjured its next member.

A series dedicated to “Madame Xanadu,” the DC Comics title about an immortal sorceress who dates back to the time of King Arthur, is in development for HBO Max with Bad Robot and Warner Bros. Television.

Filmmaker Angela Robinson is writing the one-hour drama series and, should it get greenlit, will executive produce along with J.J. Abrams and Ben Stephenson. Rachel Rusch Rich will co-executive produce.

HBO Max declined to comment.

Robinson has a busy plate. She signed an overall deal with Warner Bros. Television Group in March; she’s working with cartoonist and author Terry Moore on adapting his LGBTQ graphic novel “Strangers in Paradise” as a feature film; and she’s directing a remake of the 1983 cult classic “The Hunger” for Warner Bros.

Her drawings of the hippo-like Moomintrolls became world famous, graduating from books and comic strips to theater, TV series, movies and even a theme park. But the Tove we meet in 1944 Helsinki is struggling to pay the rent with her paintings, little knowing that her fortune will be made by the cartoons her sculptor father mocks.

Written by Eeva Putro and directed by Zaida Bergroth, and releasing domestically via Juno Films on June 3 and in the UK on July 9 through Blue Finch Film, the story explores evolving definitions of art through this father-daughter tension. But its deeper focus is on Tove Jansson as a person, and the fascinating milieu in which she lives.

Under the terms of the agreement, the director and writer of the GLAAD Media Award and Saturn Award-nominated independent drama “Professor Marston and the Wonder Women” will develop and create original scripted television programming for all Warner Bros. platforms, which includes on-demand and streaming services like WarnerMedia’s HBOMax, premium and basic cable channels and broadcast networks. Financial terms of the pact were not disclosed, but sources say that the deal is valued in the eight figure range.

Under the rich three-year pact, believed to be in the eight-figure range, Robinson will develop and create original scripted television programming for all platforms: on-demand/streaming services, including WarnerMedia’s HBO Max, premium/pay and basic cable channels, and the broadcast networks.

The sought-after multi-hyphenated is coming off an overall deal at Paramount TV Studios. Bringing unique, diverse voices to the studio’s talent roster has been a big priority for new Warner Bros. TV Group chairman Channing Dungey.

Cinematographer Bryce Fortner says he was not tempted to use period lenses when shooting “I’m Your Woman,” despite it being set in 1975. He explained his equipment choices for this Amazon Prime feature during Gold Derby’s Meet the Btl Experts panel conducted virtually by this writer (watch above). “We thought about using lenses from that era but it was important to the director, Julia Hart, that it didn’t feel like a museum film. Searchlight Pictures is nearing a $12 million worldwide deal for David Bruckner’s horror film “The Night House,” an individual with knowledge of the deal told TheWrap.

The film stars Rebecca Hall, Evan Jonigkeit, Stacy Martin and Sarah Goldberg, and was written by Ben Collins and Luke Piotrowski. It follows a widow (Hall) who begins to uncover her recently deceased husband’s secrets.

This is the first major deal out of the ground at Sundance, with some films having pre-sold before the festival. Representatives for Searchlight and Endeavor did not respond to TheWrap’s request for comment.

Of course, Bruckner is best known for his Netflix hit horror film “The Ritual,” which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2017. His other credits include the TV series “Creepshow” and the short titled “Talk Show.”

Raise your hand if you're a Rebecca Hall fan! I feel as if I can see a virtual sea of hands waving in front of me, as well I should in a post-Christine world where she's shown us just exactly how much she's capable of putting on-screen. Hot on the heels on Patty Jenkins’ box office smashing Wonder Woman comes the biopic of Wonder Woman’s creator, William Moulton Marston and the two women who inspired him to create the comic book hero.

The central story follows Marston and his wife’s unconventional relationship with Olive Byrne. Byrne started as a teaching assistant for the Marstons and became the third person in their marriage. The film explores the themes that became key in the Wonder Woman comics - empowered women, truth and the trio’s penchant for a bit of bondage.

Rebecca Hall is incredibly watchable as Elizabeth Holloway Marston, Luke Evans (who was very generously cast, just wait for the pictures at the end) is a bit dull, Bella Heathcote looks distractingly like Heather Graham...

As we gear up for an awards season ripe with many quality queer films, it’s important to remember smaller successes who may get lost in the shuffle. Lgbt-themed film festivals Outfest and Frameline kicked off the summer, while New York’s own NewFest wrapped up last week. It’s always thrilling to see a gay film get awards attention, like the kind lavished on Luca Guadagnino’s “Call Me By Your Name” and foreign language contender “Bpm (Beats Per Minute).” But it’s been a banner year for nuanced queer films across the board, and especially ones from queer-identified filmmakers.

From up-and-comers making splashy debuts, to longtime favorites who have stepped up their game, the filmmakers on this list represent a varied swath of not only the Lgbt spectrum, but vastly different artistic styles. That means they have the potential to reach different audiences — and open up perspectives across demographics.

If you haven't heard the true story about the creators of Wonder Woman, chances are you won't believe it.

Professor Marston and the Wonder Women lands in theatres in perfect timing, just after Wonder Woman itself became the biggest phenomenon of the year. The film, directed by Angela Robinson, tells the story of William Moulton Marston, the man who gave us our first woman superhero. You may not know that Marston was a psychologist and the inventor of the lie detector, or that in the 1930s, he was living in a polyamorous relationship with two equally brilliant women, his wife Elizabeth, and their lover Olive.

Christie Marston is the granddaughter of Wonder Woman creator William Moulton Marston and Elizabeth Holloway Marston, who are portrayed in the new film Professor Marston and the Wonder Women. It's been established that William had a relationship with both his wife Elizabeth and Olive Byrne, who lived with them. But the film depicts Elizabeth Marston and Byrne, who continued to live together after William Moulton Marston's death, as also having had a sexual relationship, something others have also said there is evidence for, but which the creator's granddaughter takes issue with. And once more we dive into the overflowing sea of films “inspired by true events”, though it has a touch of the “biopic”. Much as with the recent Mark Felt and Thurgood Marshall movies, it doesn’t offer a “cradle to grave” overview of the person’s life. But it certainly covers a bigger “chunk” than those flicks, going from the first World War to the second. Plus, it can considered an “origin” story of a favorite popular culture icon as with last weekend’s Professor Marston And The Wonder Women (still miffed that it wasn’t shown to the press), and like the princess, one that’s still very favored by the younger set, starring in a still steady stream of feature films (though most go straight to home video). This is the saga of author A.A. Milne whose son inspired him to write the tale of Winnie the Pooh...

If you saw Wonder Woman this summer -- and the record-setting $800 million worldwide box office indicates a lot of people saw Wonder Woman this summer -- then you know the story of how Diana, Princess of Themyscira, became the superhero Wonder Woman, protector of mankind. This weekend marked the start of a rather overcrowded few weeks at the box office, with 13 new movies opening over the next three weeks. Four newcomers hit theaters this weekend, with two failing to crack the top 10, although the Blumhouse thriller Happy Death Day cracking the top spot with $26.5 million, easily dethroning last weekend's winner, Blade Runner 2049, which dropped to second place this weekend with $15.1 million, dropping 53.9% in its second box office weekend. The movie certainly performed better than expected this weekend, while the rest of the field most certainly did not.

Happy Death Day, the millennial slasher movie from Blumhouse, has already earned more than three times its $4.8 million budget, becoming just the latest low-budget hit from producer Jason Blum's company this year. Jason Blum has also produced M. Night Shyamalan's Split, which took in $278.3 million worldwide from a $9 million budget, and Get Out, which earned $253.1 million from a $4.9 million budget.

Universal and Blumhouse score yet again, this time with Happy Death Day. The horror film easily topped the weekend box office, adding to the production house's impressive stable of original horror films including the likes of The Visit, Split and Get Out. At the same time, Blade Runner 2049 dropped over 50% in its second weekend, Stx's The Foreigner topped Mojo's weekend forecast, Open Road's Marshall delivered on expectations and Annapurna's Professor Marston and the Wonder Women crashed and burned. With an estimated $26.5 million, Happy Death Day topped the weekend box office, outperforming the opening weekend for The Visit, which went on to gross $65.2 million in 2015. Based on averages for Blumhouse titles debuting over $20 million, it seems reasonable to expect Happy Death Day to also push toward a $60 million run domestically, especially with Halloween still around the corner. The film scored a "B" CinemaScore from opening day audiences which broke down 54% female vs.

It's been a good year for Blumhouse Productions so far with Get Out and Split delivering impressive returns on minuscule budgets. This weekend their latest, Happy Death Day, hopes to follow suit as it targets a #1 finish, pushing WB's Blade Runner 2049 into runner-up position after just one week in theaters. Additional new releases include Stx's The Foreigner, Annapurna's Professor Marston & the Wonder Women and Open Road's Marshall as there's a little something for everyone in theaters, though it doesn't appear that little something will deliver big numbers at the box office collectively. On the heels of a very strong year so far, Blumhouse brings Happy Death Day to 3,149 theaters nationwide. The film takes the Groundhog Day concept and turns it into a horror film with Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones director, Christopher Landon, at the helm. Industry expectations are for a debut in the mid-teens, though we're anticipating a result just a bit higher.

“Wonder Woman” might be the year’s most outwardly feminist blockbuster, but another of this year’s most outwardly feminist biopic chronicles her creation. Kinky and conventional in equal measure, “Professor Marston and the Wonder Women” follows the unlikely (and mostly true) creation of Wonder Woman, born out of both forward-thinking theory and a polyamorous relationship that endured for decades. It seems that Blade Runner 2049 couldn't continue the fall hot streak at the box office. Last month, it seemed that the slumping summer months were cured by It's record breaking opening weekend, and while that has gone on to become the highest-grossing horror movie of all time, and one of this year's highest-grossing movies, it seemed to be just a temporary solution to the industry's box office woes. Last weekend, the highly-anticipated Blade Runner 2049 underperformed and opened with just $32.7 million, just one fifth of its $150 million budget, signalling that studios may be in for a tough month until Marvel's Thor: Ragnarok hits theaters in November. Four new movies hit theaters this weekend, and while we're projecting that Blade Runner 2049 will come out on top with a repeat win, the race will likely be a lot closer than it should have been.
