More popular titles from the past decade indeed subverted conventional tropes, but not all of them were strictly dark. Many used these bleak story beats to reinforce themes of hope and prevailing through despair. Even in the face of overwhelming odds, most of these shows remind their audience that there...

Adult Magical Girls In Anime
Image
As the name suggests, the magical girl genre is full of stories of young girls who gain magical powers that allow them to save the world from evil. These heroines are usually quite young, often in their early teens, though some are even still children. However, it isn’t unheard of for a magical girl series to feature an adult heroine.

Though rare within the genre, there are quite a few notable adult magical girls out there. They often play a different role from their young counterparts, either acting as a support system for new heroes or taking on much tougher missions that young magical girls aren’t ready for. Adult magical girls add an extra flair to their series and bring in more mature themes and plots that take the story to the next level.
