Gunpowder Prophets - Coming This October From Mad Cave Studios: "Get ready for a gonzo splatterfest packed with cults, corpses, and consequences…
Mad Cave Studios is proud to announce Gunpowder Prophets, a full-throttle supernatural grindhouse horror series in five blood-soaked issues—written by Justin Jordan (The Strange Talent of Luther Strode), illustrated by Patrick Piazzalunga (Monsters Are My Business), with colors by Roman Stevens (Batman Begins) and letters by award-winning Taylor Esposito, featuring a variant cover by Jorge Corona (Batgirls, Middlewest).
Huck and Marley help people for money. Well, in theory anyway... For some reason, their "help" always seems to involve massive amounts of property damage, a somehow guaranteed collision with the supernatural, and if Marley has his way, a huge body count. They’re the Gunpowder Prophets, and a simple job rescuing a girl from a backwoods cult turns weird when the super groovy leader's supernatural powers turn out to be very,...

The third season of House of the Dragon can’t come soon enough, and we understand your frustration—but don’t worry, there are a lot of similar shows on HBO Max that you can binge-watch over the weekend to satiate your brutal and bloody medieval show fix.
Stories set during the Middle Ages have been popular for quite some time, but Game of Thrones and its prequel saga seemingly propelled this type of show to major popularity. We get the appeal of it—there’s nothing like seeing noble knights in shining armor or kings and queens in regal attire.
Since Season 3 of the hit spinoff series is still in production, why not check out these similarly themed shows?
1. Deadwood Ian McShane in Deadwood / Credits: HBO
While Deadwood is set in the 1870s in South Dakota, it shares a lot of dramatic elements with the House of the Dragon.

Guy Ritchie’s new crime series hit Paramount+ this weekend, and although it’s earned solid scores of 71% from both critics and audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, there’s one hill it hasn’t been able to climb. MobLand currently sits in the #2 spot on Paramount+’s top 10 TV chart, falling behind 1923, the Yellowstone prequel series from Taylor Sheridan. 1923 only has one episode remaining in its second season, and MobLand still has nine to go after debuting only the first episode this weekend, and it will likely overtake Sheridan’s Western drama in the coming weeks. MobLand stars Tom Hardy opposite Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren, and it tells the story of two warring crime families vying for power with Harry Da Souza (Hardy) caught in the middle.
It’s been confirmed that Guy Ritchie will direct at least two episodes of MobLand, which was written and created for television by Ronan Bennett,...

Kit Harington is best known for playing Jon Snow in Game of Thrones — he even tried to get a sequel show off the ground, although that didn't work out, at least for now. But he's also branched out into other areas; he had a memorable turn as a high-powered CEO in the third season of Industry, and not he's added a new feather to his cap: director.
This comes from Prolific North, which reports that Harington both wrote and directed a short film called Psychopomp. There aren't many details about it available, but it's a dark comedy-drama about a troubled young man's final journey and stars the likes of Harry Melling and Ciarán Owens. Here a picture of Harington posing with his cast and crew:

2024 has been one of the best years for punk rock in a long time. From Knocked Loose's brutal set on Jimmy Kimmel Live! to Olivia Rodrigo's deluxe re-release of Guts and pop-punk world tour with The Breeders, 2024 has also proven that punk is one of the most diverse genres out there. It even began to earn its way into the mainstream.
If the year had one lesson for us, it was that the pop-punk genre is back. 2024 brought releases from The Offspring, Pinhead Gunpowder, Real Friends, and others - not to mention Sum 41's final record. It is hard to pick just a handful of this year's best records from the world of pop-punk, but some were more influential and meaningful than others, which makes up the criteria for this list of the top 10 pop-punk albums of 2024, ranked.

Exclusive: In a week that controversy surrounding Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story was generating headlines aplenty for Netflix, an old British show quietly slipped into the streamer’s UK top 10, neatly demonstrating something of a 2024 viewing trend.
The Toby Jones-starring drama series Capital premiered on the BBC in 2015 and yet here it was sitting sixth in Netflix’s most-watched list after being acquired by the streamer almost a decade later.
The show made a bit of a splash when it launched on the BBC years ago, but didn’t exactly go gangbusters. Yet in the past few weeks, the internet has been awash with article headlines such as “Netflix has just quietly added a forgotten BBC masterpiece” in relation to the rather parochial Capital, which starred Jones as one of the residents of a road in South London who starts receiving unsettling postcards.

Tonight is all about Election Night. That means all the broadcast networks are airing coverage. It is an important night, but that doesn’t mean you need to keep watching the specials. You’ve voted, and you can get the results on your phone. You want to find something else to watch tonight.
The good news is that there are streaming services out there. They have you covered so you don’t need to check out the broadcast Election coverage.
We do recommend remaining on brand for the night, though. Here are five shows to check out.

We’ll start with a three-part HBO series, which is actually connected to the date. Nov. 5 in the UK is Bonfire Night. This is the night that people celebrate the capture and execution of those involved in the Gunpowder Plot, specifically Guy Fawkes.

Plot: An unrivaled and highly elusive lone assassin, the Jackal, makes his living carrying out hits for the highest fee. But following his latest kill, he meets his match in a tenacious British intelligence officer who starts to track down the Jackal in a thrilling cat-and-mouse chase across Europe, leaving destruction in its wake.
Review: The Day of the Jackal is a title that resonates even if you have not seen the 1973 film or the novel it was based on. Loosely remade in 1997 as The Jackal, starring Bruce Willis and Richard Gere, the core plot of the Frederick Forsyth novel followed a master assassin attempting to kill the President of France and the investigation to stop him. While the original film was a critical and box office success, the dated subject matter has been ripe for a contemporary update. The new Sky/Peacock limited series The Day of the Jackal...

Kit Harington has revealed that he doesn't want to take on heroic roles following his starring role of Jon Snow in Game of Thrones. This could mean that Dane Whitman, a.k.a. the Black Knight, in the MCU will become a villain, rather than a superhero. Dane Whitman's Black Knight could return in Blade, or in any number of potential United Kingdom-based MCU projects, including those rumored to feature Captain Britain.
Kit Harington may have revealed more about his future in the MCU as Dane Whitman, a.k.a. the Black Knight. Kit Harington achieved international acclaim after debuting as Jon Snow in HBO's Game of Thrones between 2011 and 2019, and this reportedly saw him become one of the highest-paid actors on television. Harington went on to star in Silent Hill: Revelation 3D, Pompeii, Brimstone and Gunpowder, before finally joining the MCU as Dane Whitman in 2021's Eternals. However, there...

Warning: Contains Spoilers for Monkey Man!
Monkey Man cleverly references John Wick through a notable Easter egg with similar gun choices for the main character, Kid. Dev Patel's film acknowledges the widespread comparisons to John Wick, but also distinguishes itself with different thematic elements. The arms dealer scene in Monkey Man serves as a way to nod towards John Wick's influence while showing Kid's unique character traits.
Monkey Man includes a major John Wick Easter egg that perfectly acknowledges the similarities between the movies. Dev Patel's 2024 action movie has been compared to Keanu Reeves' 2014 film since its early development. Monkey Man is very much made in the John Wick formula, as a man seeks revenge on the people responsible for killing someone close to him, leading to him fighting groups of armed henchmen in nightclubs and across the city. As we prepare for the anticipated release of Guy Ritchie’s The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare in theaters on April 19, the Snatch and Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels director is ready to return to television for a Ray Donovan spin-off series. Loosely based on the hit Showtime series starring Liev Schreiber, The Donovans extends the show’s “fixer” premise to an elite family unit.
Here’s the official description for The Donovans:
“With the most powerful clients in Europe, The Donovans will see family fortunes and reputations at risk, odd alliances unfold, and betrayal around every corner; and while the family might be London’s most elite fixers today, the nature of their business means there is no guarantee what’s in store tomorrow.”
That’s the thing about empires; they can come crashing down anytime. You must be slick and think several steps ahead of opponents to keep the walls from tumbling down.

A specific location in Palworld provides unlimited resources, making it ideal for the mass production of high-quality items. Other resource-rich locations in Palworld include areas with abundant sulfur or coal, perfect for gathering specific materials. Early-game bases can be established at key locations to gather ore and Paldium fragments, providing a solid foundation for progression.
With how resource-heavy Palworld can be, this primo location can be the solution to people's resource woes. Though it may not feel like it at first, Palworld becomes resource-expensive once higher-quality items are needed. For someone unprepared, building a standard single-shot rifle could take hours of grinding, which could feel unworthy of the effort. However, if properly prepared, these expensive items could be produced in mass rapidly, albeit the cost will stay the same.

A period drama with a solid foundation in history would alone make for a compelling watch. Add to the recipe Game of Thrones favorite Kit Harington and there will be enough to sink your teeth into for a few hours. HBO’s Gunpowder does all this and more by taking viewers through some of the most notorious events in British history, including the infamous Gunpowder Plot. The three-part British historical drama television miniseries focuses on the foiled attempts of a group of British Catholics, which included Harington’s direct descendant Robert Catesby (portrayed by Harington), to blow up the House of Parliament on its opening day. Gunpowder focuses on a true story, parts of which continue to influence the traditions of current-day Britain.

The addition of Firecracker to The Seven in The Boys season 4 weakens the already diminished supe squad. Firecracker's recruitment suggests that she aligns with Homelander's politics and will support his controversial views. The Seven's power has significantly decreased since the beginning of the series, with the loss of key members and the addition of less powerful supes like Firecracker.
The Boys season 4 trailer has introduced a new member of The Seven, and it proves that this supe squad is a lot weaker than it once was. The trailer teases that Homelander is on trial, following his callous murder of a protestor in the season 3 finale, and Billy Butcher and his band of anti-supe vigilantes will continue their vengeful crusade. So far, Butcher’s warpath has been so successful, and so many supes have either been killed or renounced The Seven, that Vought keeps scrambling to make up the team’s numbers.

A new Sherlock Holmes TV adaptation is more exciting than Benedict Cumberbatch's return in Sherlock season 5. Kit Harrington's casting in a Sherlock ghost story brings a supernatural twist and adds personal vulnerability to the character. Sherlock Season 5 may not be necessary, but movies or TV specials can provide fresh narratives and diverse interpretations of Holmes.
A new Sherlock Holmes TV adaptation seems a lot more exciting than watching Benedict Cumberbatch's return in Sherlock season 5. After Sherlock Holmes first appeared in print in 1887, he was portrayed for the first time in an audio-visual medium in an 1899 play. This was followed by the character's first screen appearance in a 1900 Mutoscope film, Sherlock Holmes Baffled. Since then, Sherlock Homes has been portrayed by over 75 actors, holding a world record of being the most portrayed human character in television and film.

The producers of The Crown say they have filmed the death of Princess Diana with “enormous sensitivity” as they brace for what could be the most controversial moment in the show’s history.

Directed by James McTeigue, V for Vendetta has found itself among the classics of pop culture while also making a significant cultural impact in the form of the Guy Fawkes' mask. Although the conceptual existence of the Fawkes' mask dates back to the Gunpowder Plot of 1605, it was V for Vendetta that reintroduced it to the world as anarchical iconography. More specifically, it was the graphic novel of the same name that the 2005 film was based on that popularized the mask and its attached ideology again. This cult classic was illustrated by David Lloyd and written by Alan Moore, who was directly inspired by Fawkes' fight against an oppressive state during the Gunpowder Plot. With overt historical references, it is easy to believe that the narrative was based on a true story, but it actually was not. Instead, Moore was inspired by certain historical events and previous political parties, he...

Revenge is a dish best-served cold, but that doesn't mean it can't also be served piping hot. Some of the greatest revenge movies are veritable bloodbaths, whereas others prefer taking their time before delivering the promised vengeance. Although not technically a genre, revenge stories contain enough unique elements to be classified independently.
As such, horror, action, adventure, and even historical dramas can serve as backdrops to the protagonist's vendetta. Revenge films revolve around characters on a dark path, but one that doesn't necessarily end in self-destruction. As a result, fans can easily relate to these underdog heroes and support their quest for retribution. That said, not every revenge fantasy provides redemption and closure.

It would have been easy for Netflix’s Emmy-winning The Crown to recreate Princess Diana’s infamous BBC interview with Martin Bashir by simply having Elizabeth Debicki, as Her Royal Highness, deliver the entire transcript from a makeshift Kensington Palace. But series creator Peter Morgan, was more interested in showing the drama behind the scenes, like how executives at the BBC wrestled over airing the interview and how Diana had doubts about Bashir and whether she could actually trust him.

There’s a crunchy veracity to the script for this evocative story of two men on opposing sides of the Northern Ireland conflict
The recent 25th anniversary of the Good Friday agreement underscored how much the Troubles, and those many years of bloodshed, have receded into historical memory. With the wounds less raw, it’s easier to mine the period for drama spiked with high-stakes violence and leavened with moral conundrums about justice, loyalty and political expediency. Belfast-born novelist and screenwriter Ronan Bennett is just the right man to map out this terrain. It’s not just his having roots in the region that helps, but also his longtime involvement in British crime drama, from Face back in 1997 through TV series Top Boy, to historical mini-series Gunpowder about the Guy Fawkes plot.
