As the son of Hollywood royalty, Wyatt Russell has lived his entire life in the spotlight.
But the 38-year-old actor progeny of Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell — and Kate Hudson’s brother (“we were half-siblings, but we were full,” he says) — is used to not being recognized, or at least not being identified as the single person behind an impressively varied and critically acclaimed body of work.
“I get a lot of people who are like, ‘Wait — you were the surfer dude from Lodge 49 and also the Mormon baby killer from Under the Banner of Heaven?’ Or, ‘Shit — the guy who was in the Black Mirror episode is also John Walker?'” Russell says.
But since the April release of Thunderbolts*, all of that appears to be changing, and quickly. The Disney/Marvel release has earned $372 million worldwide and credit for spicing up the moribund superhero genre.

The big spoiler around “Thunderbolts” is finally out of the bag. Marvel has officially revealed what that haunting asterisk means on the advertising for its latest film.
A newly revised billboard off of Sunset Plaza Drive in Los Angeles has completely removed the word “Thunderbolts*” and replaced it with “The New Avengers.” The new text – and apparently, new film title – appears above the photo of a cereal box featuring the seven leading ensemble characters.
Marvel’s marketing campaign around “Thunderbolts” has been one of the most experimental ones the studio has tried in years. In addition to the asterisk, which prompted months of speculation after it first appeared in March of 2024, the movie also released an A24-style trailer as well as a limited edition collaboration with Wheaties. Star David Harbour even dressed as his character Red Guardian during a panel for the movie that took place at San Diego Comic-Con.

Jake Schreier’s winding path to Thunderbolts* feels oddly preordained considering his two roommates at NYU, Jon Watts and Christopher Ford, are also MCU alums.
In 2012, the Berkeley native kicked off his feature directorial career with the Ford-written Sundance darling, Robot & Frank, before making the jump to the low-key studio hit, Paper Towns (2015). In between it all, he became a prolific television and music video director, helming idiosyncratic series like Kidding and Lodge 49, as well as inventive videos for artists such as Haim, Kendrick Lamar and Benny Blanco.
In 2023, he served as an EP and in-house director on Lee Sung Jin’s (aka Sonny Lee) Beef, which would later win them both an Emmy for outstanding limited or anthology series. The Steven Yeun and Ali Wong-led feud narrative brilliantly balanced dark drama and comedy, while poignantly tracking the internal struggle of each main character. Schreier starting...

Even at the peak of Peak TV, the medium’s gatekeepers were resistant to making full-fledged commitments to surrealism and absurdity. But that hasn’t stopped some weird curios from sneaking through.
There have been long-running favorites like Fargo, critical hits like I’m a Virgo, cult treasures like Lodge 49 and Baskets, plus a bunch of quickly forgotten oddities like Apple TV+’s Hello Tomorrow! and The Big Door Prize and Sunny or Amazon’s Mammals. These misfit outliers in a medium generally designed to reach the widest audience possible mostly haven’t been breakouts, but there’s a good chance that each show I mentioned found some small audience that felt blessed to have been granted a series that spoke to them plus maybe a dozen other people. There’s no point in having art if everything is a Law & Order or medical procedural and nothing features a...

Exclusive: Amazon MGM Studios is developing science fiction TV series Consider Phlebas. It is an adaptation of the novel by Iain M Banks, the first in the late Scottish author’s classic 10-book Culture book series about an interstellar post-scarcity society.
Interior Chinatown creator Charles Yu is writing and executive producing. The potential series also is executive produced by Nomadland Oscar winner Chloé Zhao through her production company Books of Shadows, Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner for Plan B Entertainment as well as Adele Banks.
In Consider Phlebas, while war rages between the utopian Culture and the Idiran Empire, a Culture Ship AI “Mind” takes refuge on a forbidden planet. Both Horza, a shape-shifting mercenary working for the Idirans, and Balveda, a “Special Circumstances” Culture agent, have been tasked with retrieving it to tip the balance in a galaxy-spanning conflict. Consider Phlebas pits sentience against AI in an epic and bloody quest across the cosmos.

The third season of Reacher recently arrived on Prime Video, and once again trouble has found the show’s titular character. This season follows Reacher as he infiltrates the nefarious rug business of a man named Zachary Beck. Acting undercover as a man on the run, Reacher is tasked with locating a missing DEA informant while he works to uncover how his old foe Quinn is mixed up with Beck’s business.
As is the case with every season of Reacher, its cast of characters always changes. While a few characters have made various appearances here and there throughout the series, the show’s core characters each season are always different. Given Reacher prefers to travel from city to city with nothing but a toothbrush in his pocket, he always encounters a brand-new set of allies and enemies. Below is the cast of Season 3 and where viewers have seen them before.

If you want to know more about this season, we will happily delve deep into the colorful cast of Season 3 characters.

This article contains spoilers for "Reacher" Season 3.
"Reacher" Season 3 is finally here, and with it, the towering Jack Reacher (Alan Ritchson) attains yet another colorful supporting cast. This time, the military police extraordinaire-turned-voluntary vagrant finds himself in Maine, where he rescues a strange young man (Johnny Berchtold) from a kidnapping attempt and ends up accidentally killing a plainclothes police officer as a result. Fortunately, the kid's father, Zachary Beck (Anthony Michael Hall), happens to be a wealthy big shot who's willing to help. Soon, Reacher finds himself semi-forcefully recruited into a strange group that seems to be doing something far shadier than its stated raison d'être of selling rugs ... or does he?
In reality, both the kidnapping and the cop's death were a ruse. Reacher and the people who set them up are in cahoots, with the protagonist working as an undercover agent for the hard-as-nails Susan Duffy. Both Reacher...

It makes sense that Charles Yu’s acclaimed 2020 novel “Interior Chinatown” would eventually be adapted into a TV series. After all, its title is taken from a screenplay’s slugline, and the entire novel is written in a screenplay format. Further, Yu’s writing on “Westworld,” “Lodge 49,” and “Legion” suggests a writer interested in heady concepts and maximalist execution.

Given how Jack Reacher bids farewell to Dixon in Reacher season 2's ending moments, the Amazon show's third installment will likely introduce a new romantic interest for the character who will be Roscoe's next replacement. Adapted from Lee Child's Jack Reacher books, Amazon's Reacher closely follows the stories presented in its source material. Owing to this, since Jack Reacher avoids committing to long-term relationships in the books, the show introduces a new love interest for him in every new season.
Since this approach allows the series to be loyal to the original books, it perfectly captures how Lee Child intends to portray Jack Reacher's transient lifestyle. However, it has a minor drawback: beloved characters like Roscoe Conklin are often written out only after one season. Despite the downside, it seems unlikely that Reacher season 3 will mark Roscoe's return. But, as Lee Child's Persuader suggests, season 3 will feature her new replacement.

The original RoboCop movie, directed by Paul Verhoeven in 1987, is about a super-powerful corporation called Omni Consumer Product (Ocp) in charge of privitizing the police force in Detroit, to disastrous results. It's an acidic takedown of pro-corporate Reagan-era policies, together with lots of the exaggerated violence and winking crudeness that Verhoeven is known for.
Since then, RoboCop has become something of a corporate playing piece itself, with two sequels, a 2014 remake I'd completely forgotten about starring Joel Kinnaman as the titular felled police officer resurrected as robotic law enforcer, and four different TV series coming out over the subsequent 30+ years. And let's not forget RoboCop hawking KFC, instant noodles, and wrestling in the WCW. Whoever controls the rights isn't that picky about what happens with the character.
Those people are at it again with a new TV series with Peter Ocko — who worked on the charming AMC series Lodge 49 — as showrunner.

The “Robocop” reboot series has assembled quite the crew.
The Amazon MGM Studios production now has James Wan attached to executive produce alongside showrunner/writer/EP Peter Ocko, TheWrap has learned. They will be joined by fellow EPs Michael Clear and Rob Hackett for Atomic Monster, with Danielle Bozzone overseeing for Atomic Monster.
The official logline reads: “A giant tech conglomerate collaborates with the local police department to introduce a technologically advanced enforcer to combat rising crime — a police officer who’s part man, part machine.”

That was followed by “RoboCop 2” in 1990, “RoboCop 3” in 1993 and an official remake also called “RoboCop” in 2014 starring Joel Kinnaman. In addition to the films,...

Amazon Studios plans to reimagine the “RoboCop” franchise in a new television series. The company has hired key creative talent including showrunner Peter Ocko and executive producer James Wan. They will bring the classic sci-fi story about a part-man, part-machine police officer to a TV format.
Ocko will lead the series as showrunner, head writer, and executive producer. He has extensive experience writing for shows like “The Office,” “Black Sails,” and “Lodge 49.” This gives him a strong background to handle the action and social commentary in “RoboCop.” Horror director James Wan also joins as executive producer. Known for movies like “The Conjuring,” he will help create a compelling visual style.
The show will follow the original plot of a police officer who is rebuilt as a cyborg after traumatic injuries. A technology company partners with the police department to introduce this advanced robotic law enforcement officer against rising crime.

Bruce Campbell has played supporting roles in so many films and TV shows, he once wrote a fictionalized autobiography -- "Make Love! The Bruce Campbell Way" -- about how his biggest possible break would be playing a sage-like doorman in a high-profile Hollywood drama starring Richard Gere and Renée Zellweger. In the fake Hollywood movie, Campbell would be the character to dole out advice to the lead characters and get their lives on track. It's telling that Campbell, even in a fictional version of Hollywood, didn't cast himself as the leading man.
Of course, Campbell has rarely been romantic about acting. He takes his craft seriously, but sees it more as a blue-collar profession than a heady art that requires years of study. Given that Campbell started his career getting splashed with fake blood in a series of zero-budget monster movies, this attitude is understandable. The ironic twist in "Make Love!

For many years, A24 has been attempting to adapt the long-running slasher film series "Friday the 13th" into a prequel TV series called "Crystal Lake." For a few promising moments, Bryan Fuller was set to be the showrunner, but like so many Fuller projects, he eventually parted ways with the project over creative differences. This was in addition to the continued legal woes surrounding the "Friday the 13th" movies, leaving director/producer Sean Cunningham butting heads with original "Friday the 13th" screenwriter Victor Miller as to who owns the rights to the 1980 hit.
Charlize Theron was once eyed to star in "Crystal Lake" as Jason Voorhees' mom, Pamela Voorhees, but that may no longer be the case now that the series has undergone some reworking in the wake of Fuller's departure. That reworking may finally be in full swing once again, as, according to a new report from Variety, Brad Caleb Kane...

Brad Caleb Kane, welcome to Camp Crystal Lake.
The “It: Welcome to Derry” co-showrunner is now taking over A24’s “Friday the 13th” prequel series for Peacock. Kane was announced as the new showrunner after Bryan Fuller parted ways with the project.
Kane will serve as the series creator, writer, and executive producer, along with original 1980 “Friday the 13th” screenwriter Victor Miller. Other EPs are Miller’s copyright attorney Marc Toberoff, as well as a pair of Robert Barsamians: Robert M. Barsamian, and Robert P. Barsamian.
“From the moment I watched Jason Voorhees squeeze a guy’s eyeball out of its socket (in glorious 3D!) at the tender age of 8 years old, I knew my creative path was someday destined to converge with The Man Behind The Mask,” Kane said in a press statement. “Nothing defined my childhood more than growing up in the golden age of the slasher flick,...

AMC is sitting on a treasure trove of television that deserves more attention. Everyone knows the house responsible for three of the finest entries in the age of the TV antihero -- "Mad Men," "Breaking Bad," and "Better Call Saul" -- is home to "The Walking Dead" and its many sequels and spinoffs. But it's also the network that's given us "Orphan Black," "Halt and Catch Fire," "Dark Winds," "Lodge 49," "Into the Badlands," and all the other best shows you've heard of but never gotten around the watching because there's just too much damn interesting TV to check out as is. Thankfully, though, one of the more underseen jewels in AMC's crown -- not to mention the greatest vampire show on television -- is about to become available to a much larger audience.

Who will Anthony Michael Hall play in Reacher Season 3? “Ok, so I don’t want to get in trouble here,” Hall jokes in the video above, shot when when he visited the TV Insider office to promote Trigger Warning. “The character is Zachary Beck,” Hall shares. “And on the surface he’s like a wholesale rug dealer, but this guy’s living like The Great Gatsby or a mobster like no other.” And how dos Reacher get involved with Beck? Says Hall, “Reacher kind of saves his ass in the opening of Season 3, and that leads to them kind of striking up a friendship.” Hall was announced to be joining the series in February, alongside Sonya Cassidy (Lodge 49). Cassidy will play Susan Duffy, a DEA agent from Boston. The third season of Reacher is based on the book Persuader. Hall informs that the title refers to a type of gun.

Seeing one of your favorite shows canceled much too soon is such a common occurrence that we at Primetimer dedicated a whole feature type to exploring short-lived series that cast long shadows over the medium — shows like Undeclared, Todd McFarlane’s Spawn, Ultraviolet, and Wonderfalls. The latest — and, as it turns out, final — edition revisited the sublime Lodge 49, which presented this world for what it is (mired in capitalism and war) while also envisioning what it could be.
