It’s a good thing director Christopher Landon‘s exit from the “Scream” franchise cleared his schedule: The punchy if risible single-location thriller “Drop” delivers a far more pleasurable jolt than any I.P. could have. Here, “The Bold Type” and “The White Lotus” TV comedy breakout Meghann Fahy proves herself a terrific (and Hitchcock-shade-of-blonde) genre actress as a traumatized widow on the worst first date of her life. Luckily, that first date is in the soothing, handsome presence of Brandon Sklenar as a press photographer with baggage of his own.
Running a cool 90 minutes, “Drop” takes place almost entirely in a top-of-the-world kind of high-rise restaurant in Chicago, where Violet (Fahy) is meeting Henry (Sklenar) off a Tinder-like app, and where this appears to be Violet’s first date after surviving a brutally abusive ex. How “Drop” draws a line between the traumas Violet suffered at the hands...

For decades, young adult television focused on coming-of-age stories — characters figuring out who they are through romance, friendships, and personal growth.
We had the hopeful struggles of Felicity Porter (Felicity) and the aspirational drama of Gossip Girl, where ambition was wrapped in designer clothes and witty banter. But things have changed.
Today’s young adults on TV aren’t just dreaming — they’re fighting, hustling, and sometimes clawing their way to the top. Shows like Industry, Euphoria, and The Bold Type don’t just show ambition — they make it a survival game.

Let’s be real — today’s young adult characters aren’t just looking for meaning; they’re looking for power.

“As The World Turns” alum Billy Magnussen (ex-Casey Hughes), will topline the currently untitled Jonathan Glatzer Silicon Valley series for AMC and AMC+. Sarah Goldberg (“Barry”) was the first to be cast in the project.
According to Deadline, which first reported the news, the AMC Studios produced drama series is set inside the bubble of Silicon Valley, amid misguided corporate cultures, moony innovation labs and cutthroat private high schools. It is centered around a rift between a self-appointed “inventor of the future” tech CEO (Magnussen) and his self-serving “performance psychologist” (Goldberg), who is engulfed in a scandal sparked by the exploitation of personal data.
Along with Glatzer, the series will be executive produced by Gina Mingacci (“Killing Eve”) and is one of many high-profile Silicon Valley-set dramas put in development, but the first to receive a series order. A writer on such shows as “Succession” and “Better Call Saul,” among others,...

Days of Our Lives (Dool) spoilers suggest some fans may have been caught off guard during the February 12 episode.
After all, Sophia Choi appeared; however, it was not the same Sophia that viewers have grown accustomed to.
That’s because a new Sophia debuted during Wednesday’s show, and Sos has all the details on this.
Rachel Boyd Enters the Land of Salem!
This past January, TV Insider broke the news that actress Rachel Boyd would be replacing Og Sophia, Madelyn Kientz, who originated the role in the spring of 2024.
During the February 12 episode, Sophia and Tate Black (Leo Howard) went to meet potential parents who were interested in adopting their baby.
The couple met all the requirements that were sure to convince Sophia’s mom, Amy Choi (Shi Ne Nielson) to okay the adoption since she was against the idea.
Sadly, the parents canceled the meeting stating they were no longer interested.

What would you do if you created a website and everything you said or did was met by a heady rush of likes, heart emojis and many, many positive comments from a devoted number of followers spurring you on to do even more?
In Netflix’s “Apple Cider Vinegar,” premiering Thursday Feb. 6, that is exactly what happens to two Australian wellness influencers in the mid-2000s. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with promoting wellness but in these cases, one influencer, Milla Blake, started her website while seeking alternative treatment for her cancer. The other, Belle Gibson, did the same with one grievously frustrating difference. Gibson did not have cancer.
Through six tragi-comedy episodes, writers Samantha Strauss (“Nine Perfect Strangers”), Anya Beyersdorf (“The Twelve”) Angela Betzien (“Total Control”) and director Jeffrey Walker explore not only the glamorous world of early influencers but how easily those seeking help and community for their...

Blumhouse kicked off its 2025 horror lineup with Wolf Man in January. Next, the psychological horror film The Woman in the Yard will be released in March, followed by the upcoming horror thriller Drop in April. To build excitement for Drop's release, Blumhouse just released the gripping official trailer for the film. We shared it above.
If you got the chance to see Wolf Man in theaters, you likely caught the trailer for Drop. Moviegoers were treated to a chilling glimpse of the upcoming horror thriller during the previews. Now, everyone has the opportunity to see the full trailer online. After watching the 2-minute and 41-second trailer, I have so many thoughts. What I will say is that this movie will make you rethink whether dating is worth the risk, especially if a simple date could put you in grave danger.

Netflix has released the official trailer and key art for Apple Cider Vinegar, which is a true-ish story based on a lie about the rise and fall of a wellness empire, the culture that built it up, and the people who tore it down. The limited series premieres on February 6.
Set at the birth of Instagram, Apple Cider Vinegar follows two young women who set out to cure their life-threatening illnesses through health and wellness, influencing their global online communities along the way. All of which would be incredibly inspiring if it were all true.
Directed by Jeffrey Walker, the true crime series was inspired by The Woman Who Fooled The World: Belle Gibson’s Cancer Con, and the Darkness at the Heart of the Wellness Industry by Beau Donelly and Nick Toscano.
Samantha Strauss, Anya Beyersdorf and Angela Betzien (Total Control) are the writers of the series.

Peacock has lined up the two leads for its limited series The Good Daughter.
Rose Byrne and Meghann Fahy will lead the drama, which is based on a novel by Karin Slaughter (who is also writing every episode of the series). Byrne will also be an executive producer.

Is anyone even watching young adult TV anymore?
As the entire television ecosystem has been upended in recent years, dedicated spaces for YA content have all but disappeared. The CW swiftly cancelled nearly all of its scripted series, many of which targeted this audience, over the last few years. Freeform has done the same.
The streamers have largely taken up the mantle on speaking to young audiences, but still questions remain. With the rise of short-form content thanks to TikTok and YouTube, does this new generation of teens and young adults even care for longform, scripted content? How can streamers compete for Gen Z’s attention in such a fractured landscape?
“I don’t think the demand is dwindling,” Greg Berlanti, who has produced some of the most culturally relevant YA content of the past two decades from Dawson’s Creek to Riverdale, told Deadline. “There will always be a place for great YA.

“Emily in Paris” Season 4 delivered just the right amount of chaos, high fashion and whimsy we needed as the summer comes to a close.
But, with just five episodes in Season 4 Part 1, this season of the Netflix drama is ready to be binged in mere hours. Luckily, Part 2, which will include the latter five episodes of Season 4, will return on Sept. 12.
In the meantime, “Emily in Paris” creator Darren Star has plenty of lighter fare shows full of great fashion from “Sex and the City” — and its later offshoot “The Carrie Dairies” — to “Younger.” If you watch the Lily Collins-lead series for escapism, campy comedies like “Dollface” or “Drop Dead Diva” might also scratch the whimsical itch.

Emily in Paris became one of Netflix’s biggest hit series upon its release but I think it was also one of the most hated shows. Created by Darren Star, the romantic-comedy series stars Lily Collins as the title character, and the series is filled with stunning scenery, glamorous fashion moments, and beautiful and delicious-looking food. The first part of Emily in Paris Season 4 was recently released on Netflix with Part 2 coming out in September this year. So, if you loved all the glamour, romance, comedy, and drama in Emily in Paris here are some similar shows you should check out while waiting for Emily in Paris Season 4 Part 2.

The cast of Netflix’s My Life With the Walter Boys is back on set as production has officially begun on Season 2 in Calgary, Canada.
Showrunner Melanie Halsall is back to steer the ship for the second installment, and Ed Glauser will executive produce the series once again. Jason Priestley, who directed two episodes from Season 1, will return to direct multiple episodes and will also serve as a producer this season.
Becky Hartman Edwards is also joining as an executive producer for Season 2, likely as a seasoned hand to help guide the crew into uncharted territory, as there is no source material for this second season. She is a producer and writer known for Firefly Lane, The Bold Type, Switched at Birth, Parenthood and more.
Author Ali Novak previously announced that she is writing a sequel to the bestselling novel, but she assured that “one of the content that I...

On Monday, the production also announced that “a highly realistic Metahuman Digital Likeness” of Downey will be used within the production, appearing alongside Downey himself. The technology was developed by Agbo, Anthony and Joe Russo’s independent studio and Downey.
The play, written by Pulitzer Prize winner Ayad Akhtar and directed by Bartlett Sher, is scheduled to play the Lincoln Center’s Vivian Beaumont Theater starting Sept. 5, with an opening Sept. 30.
Additional cast members include Brittany Bellizeare (Flex), Rafi Gavron (A Star is Born) and Saisha Talwar.
The play sees Downey portraying a talented writer who grapples with a new novel, a broken family life and “an unhealthy fascination with artificial intelligence.”
Downey’s production company, Team Downey, is producing, in association with Lincoln Center Theater. The play will mark Downey’s Broadway debut.

Melissa Barrera has already established herself as a scream queen with her roles in the movies Scream and Scream VI. We can't wait to see her take on a new role in the upcoming romantic comedy horror Your Monster, which is set to be released in theaters on Oct. 25, 2024, by Vertical Entertainment
Your Monster is an indie horror film written and directed by Caroline Lindy. It's based on Lindy's 2019 short film of the same name and centers around a young, soft-spoken actress named Laura Franco, who, after a cancer diagnosis and bad breakup, discovers a weirdly charming monster living in her closet.
Barrera stars in the leading role of Laura Franco. Besides Scream and Scream VI, you might also recognize Barrera from her roles in the movies In the Heights and Abigail. She also starred as Lyn Hernandez in the Starz drama series Vida.

Exclusive: Laughing Dragon Studios recently grabbed a skateboard for a Tony Hawk toon, and now the Canadian production house has switched focus to the festive season.
The company has unveiled Christmas series Coal, which is due to drop in December 2025. Shaftesbury is signed up for international distribution, with Muse Distribution handling Quebec. The Shaw Rocket Fund and Telefilm have provided funding.
The three-part special will follow Ethan Bishop, an eight-year-old boy navigating a difficult time in his life that lands him on Santa’s naughty list. In response, Santa implements ‘Plan C,’ sending a legendary Lump of Coal to guide Ethan on a “ho-ho-hilarious journey.” Through a series of positive and negative experiences with the coal, Ethan discovers a life-altering artistic talent.
Cast includes Lucinda Davis as Ethan alongside Zariah Ellis (Blue’s Clues & You), Briauna James, Ralph Prosper, Mara Lazaris, Eric Davis and Bruce Dinsmore as Santa Claus.
Laughing Dragon is billing it as a “playful 2D animated series, complete with specialized magical charcoal-style sequences” for kids aged 6-10, and is planning it as an “festive tradition that can be cherished year after year.”
Guillaume Chassé (Curious George, F Is for Family) is directing and René Veilleux from Vérité Entertainment oversaw the voice direction and casting. Astride Noel and Christopher Bernard are the writers. Laughing Dragon CEO Ryan Sohmer (Kabu, Disenchanted) is the executive producer.
“With an initial concept from our very own Ryan Costello and seeing what our Director of Original Productions Jeff Moss has molded Coal into over the last few years, I am thrilled to begin this next stage of production, and counting down until we can bring Ethan and his family to worldwide audiences,” said Sohmer.
Writer Noel added: “It was a blast working on Coal, and I immediately fell in love with the dilemma of this holiday film that takes traditional Santa lore and spins it on its head. ‘Finding who is naughty and nice’ is not always as easy as the song makes it seem. The story serves as a wonderful reminder that even in difficult times, there is joy, beauty, and… nice to be found.”
Earlier this year, we reported that Laughing Dragon was working with skateboarding legend Tony Hawk on animated series Skatebirds, as part of the Montreal-based company’s push into original production. Initially beginning as a full-service 2D animation studio, Laughing Dragon has worked on projects such as Apple TV+’s Central Park and Disney’s Disenchanted, and is developing an internal slate also including madcap mythologic title Isaac & Friends and an animated adaptation of Least I Could Do, a webcomic created by Sohmer and Lar deSouza.
