Sony's PC Releases Are Proving PlayStation Is No Longer "For The Players"
Image
PlayStation may be alienating fans by requiring mandatory sign-ups for its PC games, going against its player-focused tag-line. Some players feel their data privacy is at risk and are frustrated with the Psn account requirement for PC games like Ghost of Tsushima. Despite backlash, Sony seems committed to requiring Psn accounts for future PC game releases, potentially risking player trust.

PlayStation has upset fans with a controversial mandatory sign-up for its PC games, and with seemingly no plans to backtrack, it looks like Sony may no longer be as player-focused as it once touted. PlayStation has been a titan of the gaming industry since its first console launch back in 1994. In the 2000s the brand became synonymous with its tag-line "For The Players," but PlayStation may be ignoring its slogan with recent choices.

Just five years ago, PlayStation offering its Aaa games on another platform would have felt extremely unlikely,...

“Lego doesn’t do…”: 1 Missing Gameplay Feature Would Completely Ruin Any Lego Bloodborne Experience, Regardless of How Much Fans Want It after Summer Game Fest
Image
Bloodborne has aged like fine wine but it wouldn’t be bad if FromSoftware and Sony would give the gaming community a highly requested remaster. The Soulsborne title has been neglected for far too long and people are now making fun of the prospect of a family-friendly spinoff.

The recent Summer Game Fest by Geoff Keighley showcased a decent lineup of new games and one was leaked a while ago which involves the Horizon franchise. Sony partnered with Lego and produced a new spinoff title that seems to be the new approach for this generation.

Bloodborne Will Never Work as a Lego Game

The gaming community revealed why Bloodborne would never work as a light-hearted game.

The Soulsborne game was released almost a decade ago but it is still talked about to this day which is a testament to how it was well-received by the gaming community. The fans had...

Cory Barlog Brutally Puts Down Fan Hopeful of a God of War Summer Game Fest Reveal
Image
God of War is confirmed not to be part of the lineup in Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest for this year. Members of the gaming community were optimistic to see the franchise make a return unfortunately, the man behind the games has spoken and players should move on.

Keighley released a full list of games that were confirmed not to be part of the show, which gave the fans a glimmer of hope only to be snuffed out by director Cory Barlog. Although PlayStation will be participating in the event, there is a low likelihood of any major first-party titles.

Summer Game Fest Will Not Feature God of War

God of War fans are not surprised that the franchise is excluded from the live show.

The iconic PlayStation franchise won’t be part of the show, despite the PC port for God of War Ragnarök being revealed during the State of Play.

Astro Bot Price Likely to Put a Considerable Amount of People Off Buying It
Image
Astro Bot was the highlight of the last State of Play and PlayStation 5 owners are excited to get their hands on Team Asobi’s next project. Unfortunately, quality gaming comes with a hefty price tag which could discourage the gaming community from grabbing it on day one.

Price can be a massive deal breaker for the casual gamer; not everyone is willing to spend much money on a game. This will be an ongoing dilemma throughout the current console generation and Astro Bot is now on that list.

Players Are on the Fence for Astro Bot’s Price Tag

Astro Bot will be released exclusively on the PlayStation 5 later this year.

The gaming community was delighted to see the easter eggs, references, and deep-cut callbacks from the history of PlayStation in the latest Team Asobi project. At one point, fans were able to spot how accurate the developers were in...

“Scared as hell I’m gonna f**k it up”: God of War’s Cory Barlog Managed to Deliver the Stand Out Moment of PlayStation’s Recent History Despite Genuine Terror
Image
God of War has been hailed as one of the greatest single-player games of all time and director Cory Barlog is still collecting flowers from it years later. The franchise was revisited with a breath of fresh air, and it was a no-brainer for Sony to pass up the director’s creative vision.

The gaming community believed that Santa Monica Studios was ready to move on to a new story and permanently close the chapter in Kratos’ book but did the complete opposite, as revealed in the iconic E3 demo, and the director remembered that day down to the smallest detail.

Astro Bot Follows Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 in One Decision Even God of War Ragnarok Didn’t Dare to Do
Image
Astro Bot is going to be an absolute blast for PlayStation fans. This title is probably the biggest one for Team Asobi. This development company first launched Astro Bot Rescue Mission in 2018 as an action platformer for PS4’s Psvr, where all the robot characters lived inside the DualShock 4 controller.

The upcoming title is exciting as well, as the company will incorporate iconic Ps characters into the game. This game has recently been revealed in the latest State of Play event. However, there is one aspect of this game that is following the path of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 but not of God of War Ragnarok.

Astro Bot Is Coming Only to PlayStation 5

Astro Bot won’t be playable on PlayStation 4.

On September 6, Astrobot will be released to celebrate PlayStation’s 30th anniversary. But the thing is that this game will only be launched on PS5, not PS4. The predecessor of this game,...

God Of War Ragnark PC: Biggest Differences From PS5
Image
God of War Ragnarok is coming to PC with technical improvements like better graphics and performance. The PC version offers uncapped frame rates, 4K resolution, upscaling, and ultrawide support. Sony's requirement to link a PlayStation Network account on PC may limit access in certain countries, despite there being no multiplayer mode.

As has recently been announced at a Sony State of Play, God of War Ragnarok will be making its way to PC in the near future. Following in the footsteps of other games like Ghost of Tsushima, The Last of Us, and its predecessor, God of War (2018), Ragnarok continues a now-ongoing trend of PlayStation exclusives receiving PC ports years after their initial release. And, while these games remain largely the same on PC as they were on the PlayStation, there tend to be some changes to entice both new purchases and double-dips.

Originally released in November 2022 for the...

One of the greatest exclusive titles from Insomniac Games is Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. According to rumors and the main story of the game, the studio should be working on a Dlc for the title. This title has proven to be a very solid franchise for the PlayStation.

1 God of War Character Was So Powerful Even Thor Was Scared to Fight Him and It’s Not Kratos
Image
In Norse mythology and the God of War, one giant’s strength was unmatchable to the gods of all realms. He was a giant with 8 arms, wielding 4 swords. He was so feared among all the gods that even Thor, the mightiest Norse God, would dare not fight with him alone. Thor is considered the strongest warrior in Norse mythology but his might consisted of trickery and dishonourable fights.

Starkad | God of War Wiki | Fandom

In the universe of God of War, giants were usually considered a peaceful community with immense physical and magical abilities that made the Norse gods insecure. The Norse Gods resorted to politics, to wipe out anything threat to their position on the throne. And on Mimir’s advice, they did the same with Starkaðr.

GTA 6 is Just One Example Where PlayStation’s PC Master Race Gamble Proves to be a Great Strategy

One Helldivers 2 Tip Will Make a Single Mech Useful for the Entire Team

Helldivers 2 has set the gold standard for what a live service game experience should be. Arrowhead Game Studios gave the gaming community a rare treat of experiencing intergalactic warfare while also having fun, and players have come up with ways to make it better.

Teamwork makes the dream work but there is only so much the players can do to make it entertaining. The stratagems offer a great reprieve for a squad but there is a way to make it more engaging by giving players more options to do damage in the field.

God of War: Ragnarok Features the Perfect Odin Voice Actor
Richard Schiff
Unless you’re trying to remain entirely unspoiled about God of War: Ragnarok before you play it on November 9th, I highly recommend you check out the game’s latest story trailer. Like most of the game’s promotion material thus far, it’s an enticing preview of what is to come as well as an incredibly well-done piece of work in its own right.

If you did watch that trailer, then I’m willing to bet there is a good chance you were shaken by the impact of the voice that pops in around the 40-second mark. While the dialogue that seemingly disembodied character speaks throughout the trailer is undoubtedly powerful on its own (Kratos really isn’t the kind of god that has ever inspired love), it’s the quality of the voicework that likely left you reeling. It’s not only a great performance but there’s...

Gran Turismo: David Harbour gets behind the wheel of Neill Blomkamp’s adaptation for Sony Pictures

Sony was not kidding when they promised to adapt several of their flagship game franchises into major motion pictures. With adaptations of Ghost of Tsushima, God of War, Days Gone, Gravity Rush, Twisted Metal, The Last of Us, and more on the way, the studio is determined to bring gamers out of their basements and into movie theaters. Emmy nominee profile: Park Hae-soo would make history with supporting win for ‘Squid Game’
Image
Of the half dozen TV programs that each received at least five acting Emmy notices in 2022, “Squid Game” is the only one with no past contenders in its nominated cast. The quintet of Korean performers recognized for their work in the Netflix series’ first season range in age from 28 to 77 and have screen acting resumes that date as far back as 1994. One of the show’s three supporting nominees, Park Hae-soo, has earned this mention 15 years into his career, which has consisted of equal parts stage, film, and TV work.

Park has decided to have Emmy voters consider his performance in the inaugural season finale of “Squid Game,” entitled “One Lucky Day.” At the beginning of the installment, his character, Cho Sang-woo, stands as one of two finalists in the central contest, along with Seong Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae). Having survived five deadly games in pursuit of a massive cash prize,...

20 Forgotten Video Game Franchises That Deserve a Comeback
Kevin Costner, Tommy Lee Jones, Gary Oldman, and Gal Gadot in Criminal: Un espion dans la tête (2016)
It’s not hard to understand how “franchises” became a bad word. At a time when ideas are born to become IPs, it’s easy to look down on the very idea of a franchise. However, not all franchises are treated equally. In fact, there have been quite a few video game franchises that never really got the chance they deserved.

It’s odd to think of a video game franchise eventually being lost to time. After all, the very idea of a game becoming a franchise means that it obviously was a big enough deal at one point to be worthy of follow-ups. Yet, history has shown that it’s surprisingly easy for a series to just vanish. Some fell off the radar due to bad sales or a few bad entries, but others vanished from our collective conscious for no good reason at all.

Before we talk about...

‘Squid Game’ Star Hae-soo Park Signs With UTA
Image
Exclusive: Hae-soo Park, who played Squid Game finalist Sang-Woo, has signed with UTA.

The talent agency has signed the actor, who is currently fronting Netflix’s Korean remake of Money Heist, in all areas.

It comes after a major courtship by the Hollywood agencies to the cast and creatives behind the smash hit Korean dystopian drama series.

Squid Game creator Hwang Dong-hyuk and stars Lee Jung-jae and Jung HoYeon all signed with CAA, so it’s a coup for UTA to nab Hae-soo Park.

Hae-soo Park recently scored an Emmy nomination for Supporting Actor in a Drama Series.

He has previously starred in Netflix’s Korean dark baseball comedy Prison Playbook, Chimera, Persona, Legend of the Blue Sea, Six Flying Dragons, and God of War.

On the feature side, he was also starred in Time to Hunt, which premiered at the Berlin Film Festival, marking the first South Korean feature...

The Legend of Zelda: Who Forged the Master Sword?
Dang kou feng yun (2017)
Almost every long-running video game franchise has a signature weapon that shows up in almost every entry. For God of War, that weapon is the Blades of Chaos. For Half-Life, it’s the crowbar. For The Legend of Zelda, it is most certainly the Master Sword.

Also known as the Blade of Evil’s Bane, the Master Sword is one of the most frequent recurring faces of the franchise. Even though most Zelda games star different characters, all of whom are named Link, the Master Sword is the same weapon throughout. This has, unfortunately, resulted in some retcons and contradictory origins since the Master Sword has technically existed longer than the Legend of Zelda timeline. Whenever one entry provides an origin story for the weapon, a sequel eventually comes along and delivers a different tale.

So what is the true origin of the Master Sword? Who forged the only weapon...

The Blacklist Season 9 Episode 21 Review: Marvin Gerard Conclusion Pt. 1
Blacklist (2013)
This The Blacklist review contains spoilers.

The Blacklist Season 9 Episode 21

Raymond Reddington is eating chilled Camembert and betrayal in The Blacklist season 9 episode 21, but what has he got to lose? A friend and bag man who sits in a car and cries while he watches his murderous orchestrations unfold in front of Pasqual’s restaurant. According to Marvin’s perspective of Liz’s death and the soundtrack playing through his memory, that fatal bullet took away Red’s “baby” and his “heart.” And Marvin knew it.

It turns out that Marvin was the bug in VanDyke’s ear pushing Townsend’s obsessively loyal bodyguard into the role of kamikaze assassin. Quite a shove from Marvin who is somehow able to keep VanDyke at gunpoint when Marvin can barely hold up the gun convincingly, much less shoot it. Marvin gets inside VanDyke’s head easily enough and the gun becomes more...

10 Video Game Sequels Not Coming To PlayStation
Antonio Banderas, Mark Wahlberg, Sophia Ali, Tom Holland, and Tati Gabrielle in Uncharted (2022)
Sony and PlayStation have undoubtedly built a name for themselves thanks to their high-profile blockbuster video games. The likes of Uncharted, The Last of Us, God of War, Spider-Man, and more have become gaming tentpoles.

That being said, Microsoft through the Xbox One, Series X|S, and PC as well as Nintendo through the bestselling Switch console have plenty to add to the diverse pool of gaming IPs. In recent years, sequels, remasters, and remakes have become bigger contributors to the industry, and there are plenty of big-name sequels on the way to systems outside of the PS4 or 5.

God of War Creator Blames Starfield Delay on Xbox Head Phil Spencer’s Poor Management
Dang kou feng yun (2017)
God of War creator and controversial YouTube figure David Jaffe recently went on a tirade in which he laid much of the blame for Starfield‘s recent delay at the feet of Microsoft Gaming CEO and Head of Xbox, Phil Spencer.

Before we dive into those comments, it’s important to understand some additional context about this story. First off, in case you haven’t heard, Bethesda recently confirmed that they have decided to delay Starfield and Redfall from 2022 to the first half of 2023. While Redfall did not previously have a specific released date beyond a vague September 2022 window, Starfield previously had a highly publicized 11-11-22 release date. The announcement didn’t really come as a shock to many who were familiar with Starfield‘s development hurdles, but it did draw quite a few reactions from fans and industry figures.

‘Fat Thor’ No More: ‘Love and Thunder’ Teaser Reveals Thor’s Weight Loss, Reignites MCU Controversy
Image
The controversy around Thor’s weight gain in “Avengers: Endgame” has been reignited on social media following the debut of the first “Thor: Love and Thunder” trailer. Chris Hemsworth’s superhero infamously packed on the pounds for “Avengers: Endgame” (the internet dubbed this iteration of the character “Fat Thor”), which led many to wonder how the upcoming “Thor: Love and Thunder” would handle the character’s weight gain. Although Thor has his “Endgame” weight when the trailer begins, it’s not long before there’s a brief training montage (Thor exercising with chains) and then the return of the muscular Thor from the pre-“Endgame” Marvel movies.

“Fat Thor” proved controversial and made headlines for much of summer 2019 during the record-breaking run of “Avengers: Endgame.” While some fans were delighted to see a new side of Thor, others accused the movie of being fat-phobic since it frequently used Thor’s...

"God of War" Live-Action
The "God of War" video games will be adapted into a live-action TV series from "The Expanse" creators Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby for Sony Pictures Television:

"...in the 'God of War' games, 'Kratos', a Spartan warrior and later the 'God of War', was tricked into killing his family by his former master, the Greek god of war 'Ares'.

"This sets off a series of events that leads to wars with the mythological pantheons. The Greek mythology era of the series sees Kratos follow a path of vengeance due to the machinations of the 'Olympian' gods, while the 'Norse' mythology era, which introduces his son 'Atreus' as a secondary protagonist...

Link Tank: Celebrating 30 Years of Sailor Moon
Sailor Moon (1992)
Thirty years ago, the iconic anime series Sailor Moon debuted in Japan and has taken over the world since then. Let’s take a look back on some of the most iconic moments from the beloved anime.

“On March 7th, 1992, the very first episode of Sailor Moon aired in Japan. Thirty years later, Naoko Takeuchi’s creation is still one of the most impactful series in pop culture—not just in Japan, but all around the world. While the Champion of Love and Justice wouldn’t arrive in the U.S. until 1995, the anime holds a special place in my heart as being one of the first series I’d seen where the heroes were all girls.”

Amazon Prime Video is in talks to pick up a “God of War” live-action TV series adaptation from Sony Pictures Television and PlayStation Productions, Variety has learned.

‘God of War’ TV Series Adaptation Eyed By Prime Video
Image
Exclusive: PlayStation’s flagship action-adventure franchise God of War is heading to television. Prime Video is in negotiations for a live-action TV series based on the hugely popular ancient mythology-themed game, sources said.

I hear the series adaptation comes from The Expanse creators/executive producers Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby and The Wheel of Time executive producer/showrunner Rafe Judkins as well as Sony Pictures Television and PlayStation Productions, which collaborate on all TV series based on PlayStation games. Reps for Sony and Amazon Studios, which likely will co-produce, had no comment.

This would mark the latest big deal for a TV series based on a popular video game title in a red-hot streaming marketplace for gaming IP. Peacock just landed another Spt/PlayStation property, Twisted Metal, with a series order and Anthony Mackie starring. HBO has coming up the high-profile PlayStation game-based series The Last of Us, starring Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey.

God of War: What is the Best Difficulty Setting?
Dang kou feng yun (2017)
The brilliant God of War has finally arrived on PC as part of the PlayStation team’s recent (and surprising) push to expand some of their services to that platform, which also means that PC gamers ready to experience one of the best games of the last 20 years are suddenly wondering which of God of War‘s difficulty settings they should choose.

While it may not seem that hard to choose a difficulty setting (and the choice obviously comes down to personal preference), the odd names for God of War‘s various difficulty modes combined with the fact that the game doesn’t exactly do the best job of telling you about the differences between them mean that many people boot up the game with more than a few questions about which one is the right one for them.

That being the case, here’s a brief look at God of War...
