Higurashi no Naku Koro ni: Rei

This series effectively acts as the third season of When They Cry. It is an OVA series so it is understandably short. Significantly shorter than the previous two. There are only 5 episodes.

Episode 1 is just a bunch of silly fan service at a swimming pool. Episodes 2-4 is an actual continuation of the story. Episode 5 revolves around some magically cursed beads that make the people that find them fall in love with each other. So more silly nonsense basically.

Episodes 1 & 5 contain the standard stupidity that I have come to expect from OVAs. 1 is especially ridiculous.

The little arc is episodes 2-4 is quite interesting... at least initially. It was doing pretty well for 2.5 episodes then is just failed to have a good ending. It almost felt like they ran out of time and just rushed for the easiest ending that theu could think of. Which makes no sense because they could have easily squeezed another episode out of that little arc and given it time for a proper ending instead of doing the silly love bead episode.
