Is Mid-Century Modern the next Golden Girls? If you ask some critics, maybe!

As of Thursday afternoon, the new Hulu comedy, premiering Friday with all 10 episodes, has a generally favorable score of 73 on Metacritic based on five reviews and a fresh rating of 88 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.

"The series is a mostly delightful comedy that blends the wit of their groundbreaking sitcom with the charm of The Golden Girls," Variety's Aramide Tinubu says.

Created by Will & Grace's David Kohan and Max Mutchnick, Mid-Century Modern stars Nathan Lane, Matt Bomer, and Nathan Lee Graham as three gay friends of a certain age who move in together in Palm Springs after a friend's death. It's a true sitcom throwback, shot as a multicam in front of a live audience with the legendary James Burrows directing. The series also features the final TV performance from Linda Lavin, who died in December midway through production.

Quiver Distribution has acquired the North American rights to “Off the Record,” a drama that written and directed by stuntwoman turned filmmaker Kirsten Foe.

The film stars Rainey Qualley (“Mad Men“) and Ryan Hansen (“Veronica Mars”). It follows Astor Grey, a rising singer-songwriter whose life takes a dark turn when she enters a turbulent romance with washed-up rock star Brandyn Verge. What begins as a whirlwind love story becomes a darker look at manipulation and resilience. The ensemble also includes Rebecca De Mornay, Olivia Sui, Julia Campbell, and Will Peltz. There are also cameos by Billy Gibbons (Zz Top), Peyton Manning, and Edgerrin James.

John Frost is a newer addition to the Med cast, but we are still getting a feel for who he is and what he's been through. There are still lots of blanks to be filled in, and Darren Barnet, the actor who plays him, revealed that a newcomer will help to do just that.

So, while we have Tom Holland in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, in the animated world, we have the Oscar-winning franchise, the Spider-Verse trilogy. Having premiered back in 2018, the animated flick Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse was a massive success, both in terms of commercial success as well as critical success. Even its sequel, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse displayed a similar feat, sweeping fans right off their feats, leaving their jaws hanging wide open with its spectacular animation, intricate storyline, interesting characters, and ‘banging’ music.

And so when she returns to work in Episode 5, she’s very determined to find who was responsible. “After having something so traumatic happen to her, she is now jolted into action,” Cox explains on TV Insider’s Booked: The Rookie Aftershow. Nyla trusts her gut when it tells her that the man they think could be responsible for the killings isn’t and instead, it’s Liam (Seth Gabel), whose vending machine company supplies the hospital they were investigating when she was attacked.

Mel Gibson may not appear in front of the camera these days quite as often as he used to, but he was a major star throughout the '80s, '90s, and 2000s. Though he remains best known for the Lethal Weapon and Mad Max franchises, as well as 1995's Braveheart, Gibson has explored a variety of genres over the course of his near 50-year career, including the war movie genre.

Gibson doesn't have a great many war movies under his belt, but he did star in The Patriot (2000), which takes place during the American Revolutionary War, and he directed Hacksaw Ridge (2016), a World War II film.
