Is Mid-Century Modern the next Golden Girls? If you ask some critics, maybe!
As of Thursday afternoon, the new Hulu comedy, premiering Friday with all 10 episodes, has a generally favorable score of 73 on Metacritic based on five reviews and a fresh rating of 88 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.
"The series is a mostly delightful comedy that blends the wit of their groundbreaking sitcom with the charm of The Golden Girls," Variety's Aramide Tinubu says.
Created by Will & Grace's David Kohan and Max Mutchnick, Mid-Century Modern stars Nathan Lane, Matt Bomer, and Nathan Lee Graham as three gay friends of a certain age who move in together in Palm Springs after a friend's death. It's a true sitcom throwback, shot as a multicam in front of a live audience with the legendary James Burrows directing. The series also features the final TV performance from Linda Lavin, who died in December midway through production.

"Daredevil: Born Again" is resurrecting Marvel's bloodiest superhero show for another round, and several fan-favorite characters are coming back into the fold. Charlie Cox is once again leading the cast as the eponymous crime-fighting vigilante, while Jon Bernthal is reprising his role as The Punisher, which is bound to excite fans who feel their previous adventures ended far too soon. That said, does "Daredevil: Born Again" live up to the lofty expectations set by its predecessor? Or has the property been watered down and Disneyfied now that it's set up at the Mouse House's primary streaming platform?
Well, the good news is that the early reactions to "Daredevil: Born Again" are unanimously positive. Several journalists have flocked to social media to share their thoughts on the new series, with several noting that it's a worthy successor to Netflix's canceled "Daredevil" series (which ran from 2015 until 2018). Chicago Med has lots of trauma, and we aren't just talking about the surgery unit. The characters who currently fill out the Gaffney roster have been through a lot and are still struggling to make sense of it all. It's part of what makes them all so endearing, and why we root for them to grow.
John Frost is a newer addition to the Med cast, but we are still getting a feel for who he is and what he's been through. There are still lots of blanks to be filled in, and Darren Barnet, the actor who plays him, revealed that a newcomer will help to do just that.
Barnet told TV Insider that Med season 10 will see the introduction of a character that Frost knows from his past. Frost was an actor prior to entering the medical field, and his show biz background will evidently come into play when this character resurfaces.

Before Arielle Kebbel was saving lives as a lifeguard on Fox’s new drama Rescue: Hi-Surf, she was a first responder on another (then Fox) show, 9-1-1. (The series has since moved over to ABC starting with its seventh season.) While out for drinks celebrating an impressive rescue, she kissed him. His response? Rather than tell his girlfriend at the time, Taylor (Megan West), he asked her to move in. In 2024, It Ends With Us was supposed to mark popular romance writer Colleen Hoover's first adaptation. The movie, optioned in 2019 by Jane the Virgin actor-turned-director-and-producer Justin Baldoni, also starred Blake Lively in the female leading role in what would've been her biggest commercial hit so far. Little did anybody know.
The ongoing messy legal battle between Baldoni and Lively over claims of sexual harassment, defamation, and smear campaigns has become not just the public's most addictive drama, but the industry's focus, as well. The drama might have been used for laughs by awards hosts like Chelsea Handler and Judd Apatow, but a what-not-to-do cautionary tale for the entire film industry. With different takes online about the two actors' ongoing drama, a new feature on The Hollywood Reporter paints the situation as an extreme "cultural misunderstanding," with sources alleging why Lively actually felt uncomfortable.

Fans of "The Big Bang Theory" know that, for twelve seasons and the same number of years, Kaley Cuoco brought some much-needed levity to the role of Penny, the beautiful and outgoing aspiring actress who moves into the apartment across the hall from Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons) and Leonard Hofstadter (Johnny Galecki). Penny is basically an audience surrogate who hangs out with a group of intensely nerdy guys with a ton of esoteric knowledge about science and pop culture.
As the resident "normie," Penny translates their nonsense for the viewers and, within the universe of the show, helps all of the guys evolve. Leonard, Penny's on-again, off-again boyfriend, is a much better person after he spends years as Penny's partner. Penny ultimately breaks Sheldon's barriers down to the point where he considers her one of his best friends in the world.

And so when she returns to work in Episode 5, she’s very determined to find who was responsible. “After having something so traumatic happen to her, she is now jolted into action,” Cox explains on TV Insider’s Booked: The Rookie Aftershow. (Watch the full video above.) Since making his acting debut in a 1989 episode of the NBC cop drama "In the Heat of the Night," Walton Goggins has been a most welcome presence on screens big and small. He first popped as police detective Shane Vendrell in the electrifying FX series "The Shield," and won our hearts as the scarily charming criminal Boyd Crowder over six brilliant seasons of FX's "Justified." We also love him as Baby Billy Freeman on "The Righteous Gemstones," and were blown away by his portrayal of The Ghoul on "Fallout." Goggins has been in some bad movies over the years (e.g. "American Ultra" and "Cowboys & Aliens"), but he certainly wasn't bad in them. The man seems wholly incapable of giving a bum performance.
Given that Goggins has become a favorite of filmmaker Quentin Tarantino since appearing in "Django Unchained," is it too much to hope that, whenever the director...

The ever-talented, Colleen Zenk, recently spoke with TV Insider, to talk about her run as Jordan and the character’s exit.

Anyone who thought Lance Barber’s run as George Cooper, Sr. was going to be cut short on Young Sheldon, given how the character’s fate had been referenced on The Big Bang Theory, learned otherwise. Not only did Barber play the Cooper patriarch until the series end, he’s now set to reprise his role as Georgie’s dad in an upcoming episode of Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, the Young Sheldon spinoff. Producers from the show confirmed the news of Barber’s guest spot at a press conference this week on the set of Georgie & Mandy. The character will appear to his namesake son not via streaming DVD VHS but rather in a dream. The idea was inspired by the fact that series creator/executive producer Chuck Lorre has been visited by his own late father in a dream. TV Insider was on the scene and, following the Q&a panel,...

[Warning: This content contains Major spoilers for The Rookie Season 7 Episode 4 “Darkness Falling.”] The Rookie‘s training officers had their hands full this week with each of the newbies getting a chance to prove themselves following a multi-car pileup that triggers a manhunt none of them saw coming. Nolan (Nathan Fillion) assigned his trainee, Celina (Lisseth Chavez), to take the lead on coordinating the LAPD’s handling of the scene, while Lucy (Melissa O’Neil) began to notice that her rookie, Ridley (Patrick Keleher), always seems to have some personal drama to excuse his lackluster job performance. Bradford (Eric Winter), on the other hand, was accepting no excuses when Penn (Deric Augustine) failed to report that he spotted a handgun in the glove compartment of one of the wrecked cars. “They’re important mistakes,” Winter told TV Insider’s Booked: The Rookie Aftershow. “But even just a detail, he’s going to ride him and be on him...

[Warning: The following contains Major spoilers for Mayfair Witches Season 2 Episode 4, “Double Helix.”] The past — both recent and realllly far back — came back to haunt Rowan (Alexandra Daddario) on this week’s episode of Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches, and TV Insider was on set to see some of it come to life. In the hour, entitled “Double Helix,” we got flashbacks that filled in the blanks about why Rowan’s med-school romance with geneticist Lark (Ben Feldman) in San Francisco came to an end. Turns out, he was the one who sank it by taking a job in New York, without even telling her he was even applying for it months earlier! Obviously trusting this guy is risky, as proven by his secretive swiping of her teacup to test against the DNA sample she’d already given him. Needless to say, the results (exact matches!) left him shooketh. Skip Bolen/AMC Still, it was fun to...

Mel Gibson may not appear in front of the camera these days quite as often as he used to, but he was a major star throughout the '80s, '90s, and 2000s. Though he remains best known for the Lethal Weapon and Mad Max franchises, as well as 1995's Braveheart, Gibson has explored a variety of genres over the course of his near 50-year career, including the war movie genre.
Gibson doesn't have a great many war movies under his belt, but he did star in The Patriot (2000), which takes place during the American Revolutionary War, and he directed Hacksaw Ridge (2016), a World War II film. Braveheart could also be considered a war movie. Gibson's work in the genre has also extended to the Vietnam War, with one film that may have earned somewhat lukewarm reviews from critics, but is now earning the praise of an expert for its depiction of one key battle.

John Wayne still ranks among today’s most popular movie stars, even though he died in 1979 at the age of 72. In a legendary screen acting career that encompasses more than 140 feature film roles and spans 50 years, Wayne was listed by movie theater owners as being among Hollywood’s 10 most bankable stars for 25 years between 1949 and 1974, the longest run of any star in history, followed by Clint Eastwood at 21, and Tom Cruise at 20.
Wayne still holds great influence in pop culture, especially the Western genre, which he redefined so completely throughout his career that he essentially became the genre. While Wayne’s Western masterpieces hold timeless appeal, several of his initially underappreciated Western films have received increasing appreciation over the past 40 years. One of these is the 1972 Western film The Cowboys, in which Wayne plays Wil Andersen, an aging rancher who is forced to seek the help of a group of...
