Film News Roundup: Alan Tudyk Voicing Iago the Parrot in Disney’s ‘Aladdin’
Alan Tudyk
In today’s film news roundup, Alan Tudyk is supplying to voice of Iago in “Aladdin,” Atonement Pictures launches and Michael Keaton is narrating “Wings 3D.”

Voice Cast

Alan Tudyk has signed on to voice Iago, the scarlet macaw parrot sidekick to the villain Jafar in Disney’s live-action “Aladdin,” which opens May 24.

Tudyk has voiced characters in six different Disney animated movies, starting with “Wreck-It Ralph” in 2012, followed by “Frozen” as the Duke of Weselton, “Big Hero 6,” “Zootopia” as Duke Weaselton and “Ralph Breaks the Internet” as Knowsmore. He also appeared in Disney’s “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,” in which he played the droid K-2So.

Gilbert Gottfried voiced Iago — named after the villain of William Shakespeare’s “Othello” — as a wisecracking and easily frustrated character, saying at one point, “Look at this! I’m so ticked off that I’m molting!”

Disney unveiled the first...

'A Question of Faith': Film Review
C. Thomas Howell, Kim Fields, Richard T. Jones, Renée O'Connor, Gregory Alan Williams, Jaci Velasquez, T.C. Stallings, Kruz Valero, and Caleb T. Thomas in A Question of Faith (2017)
After the faith-based Christian film God’s Not Dead became a sleeper hit in 2014 by grossing more than $60 million, distributor Pure Flix was quick to get onboard the sequel God’s Not Dead 2, although it ultimately topped out at under $21 million in 2016. The company’s current release A Question of Faith represents a more traditional ensemble-cast drama that leans heavily on manipulative narrative techniques to emphasize its message, which will most likely be ignored by mainstream audiences while drawing support from the usual Christian constituencies.

If heavy-handedness were recognized as a desirable narrative technique, then A Question of...

Colin Firth, Julianne Moore, Mark Strong, Channing Tatum, and Taron Egerton in Kingsman : Le Cercle d'or (2017)
It Returns to Top the Box Office with $17.3M
Colin Firth, Julianne Moore, Mark Strong, Channing Tatum, and Taron Egerton in Kingsman : Le Cercle d'or (2017)
The blockbuster Stephen King adaptation It returned to take the top spot this weekend, after being knocked off by Kingsman: The Golden Circle last weekend, winning with an estimated $17.3 million, followed closely behind by newcomer American Made in second with $17.01 million and last weekend's winner Kingsman: The Golden Circle with $17 million. With all newcomers expected to underperform at the box office this weekend, it was believed to be quite the close race, which turned out to be true, with the top three spots separated by just $300,000. Since these movies are so close together in today's estimates, it's possible, if not likely, that the top three movies may switch spots when the actual numbers are released tomorrow.

Box Office Mojo reports that the It remake dropped 90 theaters in its fourth frame at the box office, bringing its theater count down to 3,917, but it still earned a respectable $4,419 per-screen average, bringing its domestic total to $291.1 million,...

Weekend #1 Up for Grabs after Record September at the Box Office Comes to an End
Tom Cruise, Sarah Wright, and Alejandro Edda in Barry Seal: American Traffic (2017)
As a record September comes to an end, it's a race for number one with three films separated by a mere $310k. Based on estimates, it's a return to #1 for WB and New Line's It, but hot on its heels is Universal's American Made along with Fox's Kingsman: The Golden Circle. Otherwise, Sony's Flatliners debuted on life support, Novus's Til Death Do Us Part found its way into the top ten and Pure Flix's A Question of Faith finished on the outside looking in. With just over $300k separating number one and number three on this weekend's box office chart, first place currently belongs to WB and New Line's It, which is back on top after last weekend saw the killer clown finish in the runner up position. With an estimated $17.3 million, the record-breaking horror has now topped $291 million domestically and will spend Sunday enjoying its third weekend out of...

Pure Flix has acquired distribution rights to Silver Lining Entertainment’s A Question Of Faith, which is set to bow in theaters September 29. Directed by Kevan Otto, the faith-based drama revolves around three families from different cultures who live in the same community; they are complete strangers living vastly separate lives until a texting-and-driving accident thrusts them onto converging paths where they discover God's love, forgiveness, grace and mercy.
