Just Within Reach

I found this to be so hard to follow and then I realized I didn't care. Now I must check on this directors other work.

Yhis is awful. somebody paid somebody for these ratings.. Do not waste money..

This is such a well-cast and well-acted film. Estella Warren as the ultimate Femme Fatale and Lenny Von Dohlen as the Ssociopath-Antagonist absolutely shine. Pride Grinn as the comic relief lingerie designer who shows more than a personal fascination with female attire and Erin O'brien playing the consummate LA Woman make a perfect pair. Alex Cubis' delivers pure naturalism and heart. With so much adversity challenging this production at every level (a ten day shooting schedule, among other hazards!) the high visual quality cinematographer Pedja Radenkovic achieves in his necessarily minimalist style is beyond exceptional. Anna Bamberger's feature directorial (and writer/producer) debut is astounding.

Just Within Reach is visually stunning and superbly cast and acted. And because "Context is everything" it classifies as a remarkable cinema achievement; filmed on a limited budget in 10 days at a single location, prep'd extraordinarily quickly, as well as being the first feature effort of Anna Bamberger who also produced, and who reveals herself as a prodigy auteur. I'd have liked to have some narration to fill in the blank spots, but even without narration the story is compelling and relevant and haunting.
