Sheeshmahal

Loved it!

Sheesh Mahal, the 2024 Indie film, showcases the relentless passion and creative flair of director Camp Sasi and his partner Rohit. This duo has really made a name for themselves, building a dedicated fanbase that can't wait for their next project.

The story behind Sheesh Mahal is quite intriguing, stretching over ten years and touching on all facets of filmmaking and its business side. Production kicked off in December 2013 but wrapped up only in 2020, which might seem surprising. Sasi explains that it wasn't just financial issues that caused the delay. They faced scheduling conflicts because of the high demand for the skilled crew members, like cinematographer Gnana Shekar, music composer Vivek Sagar, and sound designer Sanal George. Plus, Sasi and Rohit were juggling multiple projects at the same time, which added to the timeline.

At its core, Sheesh Mahal is an anthology film about a group of people whose lives intersect at the Children's Film Festival in Hyderabad back in 2013. RK (Rahul Ramakrishna) is a filmmaker struggling to find his muse, Lavanya is a young girl on her first adventure away from home, and Feroze is a canteen owner trying to get by. The film also pays homage to the old city and the dreamers who roam its winding streets. Despite the changes over the years, the area still retains its vintage charm, almost like an old book that's been untouched for ages-rich and nostalgic. The authenticity of the locations is palpable, with the credits even acknowledging the Streets of Hyderabad in the Production Design. Watching it in 2024 feels like stepping into a time capsule, capturing a city that's always evolving.
