Forest Whitaker Will Return as Saw Gerrera in Rogue One Disney+ Prequel Series Andor
Image
Forest Whitaker returns as Saw Gerrera in the upcoming Rogue One: A Star Wars Story spinoff series Andor. Just one of many Star Wars projects in development at Disney+, Andor will primarily follow Diego Luna reprising his role as Cassian Andor, the character he played in Rogue One. As a prequel, the series is set in the years before the events of the movie, serving as an origin story for Cassian Andor while delving into the early days of the feud between the Rebellion and the Empire.

At this time, production is underway on Andor, though Disney is holding back on divulging more information. It wasn't entirely clear which other actors might be coming back from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, but it did seem likely others would be involved. It was previously reported that Genevieve O'Reilly, who played Mon Mothma in Revenge of the Sith and Rogue One,...

Film Review: 1970s Caper Film in Enjoyable ‘Finding Steve McQueen’
Chicago – The “caper” film, Aka the heist film, is one of the old reliable genres in the movies, and usually involves a gang of mismatched thieves. “Finding Steve McQueen” goes all the way back to the 1970s to spotlight a based-on-truth burglary that involves Tricky Dick himself, President Richard M. Nixon.

Rating: 3.5/5.0

The gang is led by the underrated character actor William Fichtner (probably best known as the gun-waving astronaut in ‘Armageddon”), who depends on a dim-but-reliable car enthusiast played by Travis Fimmel, whose story is the focus of the film. The title is a reference to the Fimmel character’s love for the King of Cool, movie star Steve McQueen, and many of the film’s incidences either alludes to or directly comments upon McQueen’s films. Director Mark Steven Johnson (“Ghost Rider”) also does some fancy timeline jumping, as the film begins in 1980, but tells the story of...

William Fichtner, Forest Whitaker, Travis Fimmel, and Rachael Taylor in Finding Steve McQueen (2019)
Film Review: ‘Finding Steve McQueen’
William Fichtner, Forest Whitaker, Travis Fimmel, and Rachael Taylor in Finding Steve McQueen (2019)
“Finding Steve McQueen” is a ramshackle indie heist drama that has a little bit (but not much) to do with Steve McQueen. The film’s central figure, a green-behind-the-ears thief named Harry Barber (Travis Fimmel), idolizes the squinty star of “Bullitt,” for all the reasons one might have back in 1972, when most of the movie is set. McQueen was then at the height of his popularity, but his star cachet, going back to films like “The Great Escape” and “The Cincinnati Kid,” predated the counterculture, and that was the mark of his mystique. In a New Hollywood overrun with shaggy idols like Warren Beatty and Elliott Gould, McQueen, with his baby-faced scowl, was the last neo-’50s maverick romantic stud, a guy too square to be hip and, for that reason, too hip to be square.

“Bullitt,” the movie that launched a thousand car chases, was the rubber-meets-the-road apex of the McQueen swagger,...

Steve McQueen in La Grande Évasion (1963)
‘Finding Steve McQueen’ Trailer: It’s Like ‘Baby Driver’, But With Richard Nixon
Steve McQueen in La Grande Évasion (1963)
The fast-paced, somewhat goofy Finding Steve McQueen trailer makes this heist comedy look like a weird hybrid of Baby Driver, The Old Man and the Gun and The Nice Guys. Except…it doesn’t look as good as any of those films. But any movie with William Fichtner can’t be all bad! Despite the title, this doesn’t have anything to do with […]

‘Finding Steve McQueen’ Trailer Takes You Into One of History’s Biggest Heists
Momentum Pictures has released the trailer for Finding Steve McQueen, a heist comedy from director Mark Steven Johnson that dives into of the most ridiculous, yet little-known robberies in United States history. Travis Fimmel in First Trailer for Crime Film 'Finding Steve McQueen'
"That's when it all started to go sideways." Momentum Pictures has debuted an official trailer for a crime comedy titled Finding Steve McQueen, a new film directed by Mark Steven Johnson. Not to be confused with the biopic film about actor Steve McQueen, titled Chasing Bullitt, this film is about some thieves from Ohio and it doesn't really involve the iconic actor. Set in 1972, a gang of close-knit thieves based in Youngstown, Ohio attempt to steal $30 million in illegal contributions and blackmail money from President Richard Nixon's secret fund. All based on a true story, of course. Travis Fimmel (from Warcraft) stars, along with Rachael Taylor, William Fichtner, Forest Whitaker, Lily Rabe, Jake Weary, Rhys Coiro, and Louis Lombardi. This really looks quite boring. Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Mark Steven Johnson's Finding Steve McQueen, from YouTube: When an unlikely gang of thieves from Youngstown, Ohio attempt to...
