Kate Beckinsale To Lead Action Thriller 'Lioness' From 'One Shot' Director
Image
Underworld star Kate Beckinsale and Mortal Kombat’sLewis Tan will join forces for a new “under-the-radar" action thriller from director James Nunn, the filmmaker behind the Scott Adkins action outings One Shot and One More Shot. Yes, it is pretty much everything you could hope for as an action movie fan. You're welcome. Titled Lioness, production is now underway in the United Kingdom, and the first details have now been revealed.

According to a report by Deadline, Capstone will finance the action movie, which will follow “an ex-black ops team who reunite to pull off a desperate heist to save the life of their leader’s (Beckinsale) eight-year-old daughter.” Which, frankly, sounds like the kind of pitch perfect, no-nonsense plot that action dreams are often made of.

Alongside Kate Beckinsale and Lewis Tan, the rest of the cast includes Rasmus Hardiker, Alice Krige, Bailey Patrick, Tom Bennett, Matt Willis, and Roxy Striar.

Kevin Smith And Jason Mewes Are Swinging Through The First State This Weekend And You Should Too
Image
Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes are on the road once again. The two best friends have worked in movies and television shows for decades. Smith and Mewes, better known as their fictional stoner selves, Jay and Silent Bob, are the total opposite in real life.

For one thing, writer/director Kevin Smith, who portrays Silent Bob, is silent. When Smith is not behind the camera, he usually hosts one of his many podcasts or hits the road, telling stories and giving inspirational talks on filmmaking and following your dreams.

Jason Mewes, who has portrayed Jay the loudmouth Jay, is an accomplished actor, director, and father. His directorial debut movie Madness in the Method was good. I’m looking forward to seeing him behind the camera the next time. And if he ever needs any advice, he can ask one of his best friends.

Kevin Smith has always been an inspirational person to me.

Dean Cain Comes Under Fire for Controversial Captain America Comments
Image
Dean Cain has come under fire on Twitter following recent comments he made about the "wokeness" of Captain America in an interview earlier this week. The actor, whose recent credits include titles like Madness in the Method, Break Every Chain, and Obamagate: The Movie, is best known for his role as Clark Kent on the TV series Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman. He may have experience in playing a superhero, but he's not too thrilled with some of the comic book industry's latest stories.

On Fox and Friends this week, Dean Cain was asked about Marvel's comic book series The United States of Captain America. Specifically, a line in the first issue mentions that the American dream for some "isn't real" and just didn't sit very well with the Superman actor, who feels that anti-patriotism has become the new trend in the nation. Per THR, here's what...

[Note: With the film hitting digital outlets next week, here’s a reposting of our review on Madness in the Methos, from the films UK debut at Frightfest last year]

Playing an alternative version of his persona, and tired of Hollywood’s perception of him, Mewes embarks on a quest to reinvent himself as a serious actor. Upon advice from his best friend Kevin Smith, he tracks down a secret book outlining all the mysteries of the Method Acting process with disastrous consequences.

Whilst Madness in the Method may feature Jason Mewes playing an alternate version of his own persona, it doesn’t stop Mewes’ film from being something of a retrospective on his real-life career And life; perfectly blending truth and fiction, life and movie, in a way that makes this film akin to the likes of JFK, American Animals and...

Jason Mewes Talks Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, Jay's Future and More [Exclusive]
Kevin Smith
Jay and Silent Bob are back on the big screen together after a decade and some change away. The iconic duo, played by filmmaker Kevin Smith and his trusty "hetero life mate" Jason Mewes, were last seen leading their own flick in 2001's Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. Now, Smith is returning to his ViewAskewniverse with Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, a star-studded sequel that will bring back a ton of fan favorites, while introducing quite a few new faces to the universe.

This is the first time Kevin Smith has visited his own cinematic universe since Clerks II in 2006, and his first movie since suffering his near-fatal heart attack last year. Jason Mewes is once again carrying this movie on his shoulders as Jay, just as he did in its 2001 predecessor. Not only that, but the two will be heading out on a tour starting later this month...

First Trailer for 'Madness in the Method' Film Directed by Jason Mewes
"Once you read the book, you can't unread it!" Cinedigm has unveiled the first official trailer for the film Madness in the Method, an autobiographical feature film starring and directed by Jason Mewes (aka Jay Mewes) - the actor best known as "Jay" from Kevin Smith's filmography. This stars Jason as himself, Jay, and is about his attempt at trying method acting in order to gain more respect for himself in Hollywood outside of his "Jay" role he's most known for. He discovers a secret method acting book, but slowly descends into madness. Kevin Smith also co-stars, and the full cast includes Gina Carano, Jaime Camil, Vinnie Jones, Danny Trejo, Mickey Gooch Jr., Brian O'Halloran, Teri Hatcher, as well as a brief cameo by Stan Lee (his very last!). The looks kooky and potentially fun, an amusing mockery of that Hollywood life. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for...

‘Madness In The Method’ Trailer: Danny Trejo, Vinnie Jones & Stan Lee Appear In Jason Mewes’ Meta Directorial Debut
After watching his good pal Kevin Smith turn a $20,000 black and white indie film into a 25-year Hollywood career, you had to imagine that sooner or later actor Jason Mewes would try his hand at directing. And now, with the upcoming film “Madness in the Method,” he does just that.

And despite the film’s fairly serious meta-narrative, following Jason Mewes as he attempts to shed his stoner buddy persona for a more serious acting career, the new trailer for “Madness in the Method” clearly shows that the filmmaker is ultimately interested in having a good time.

Madness in the Method Trailer: Stan Lee Joins Jason Mewes & Kevin Smith in Hollywood
Stan Lee at an event for Hulk (2003)
Following the passing of legendary comic book creator Stan Lee, his run of cameo appearances in various movies is also coming to an end. However, he will be giving us one final live-action cameo in a posthumous performance in the upcoming crime-comedy movie Madness in the Method. After the lack of a Lee cameo in Spider-Man: Far From Home, it's nice to know there's still one more portrayal from the legend on the way, even if seeing it is a bit bittersweet.

Madness in the Method is the directorial debut for Jason Mewes, better known as Jay from the Jay and Silent Bob movies. Mewes also stars in the movie along with Kevin Smith, with both playing fictionalized versions of themselves. After Smith tells Mewes that the only way to survive Hollywood is to toughen up, Mewes takes the message a little too closely to heart. Determined to escape from under Smith's shadow,...

Madness in the Method Trailer: Jason Mewes Stars as Himself, Joined by Kevin Smith
Joseph Baxter Jul 12, 2019

Jason Mewes stars as himself in feature directorial debut Madness in the Method, depicting his struggle to be taken seriously in Hollywood.

Madness in the Method brandishes a title that, in reversing a famous idiom, reveals the 180 turn of its star and director, Jason Mewes, who’s using the film as a statement to prove to audiences that he’s more than just a snoochie-boochie-smoking loiterer of convenience stores and malls.

Indeed, the film shows Mewes expanding his (perceived as limited) performance boundaries by – ironically enough – playing, well, himself in the meta-minded character study, putting aside his oft-fielded character in Kevin Smith’s View Askewverse as Jay. However, that’s not to say that he’ll be without his repertory onscreen companion, since Smith will very much be a part of the film, joined by an intriguing array of supporting cast members, most notably the immortal Stan Lee...

Is There a Stan Lee Cameo in ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’?
Stan Lee at an event for Hulk (2003)
There’s one person who has been in more Marvel Cinematic Universe movies than anyone else — late Stan Lee, the comic book legend who co-created Spider-Man, Fantastic Four, the X-Men and the Incredible Hulk. For decades he’s bee a staple in Marvel movies, making cameo appearances in just about all of them, both inside the McU and outside it.

Lee hasn’t popped up in every single Marvel movie — he skipped, for example, both “Punisher” movies and “Elektra,” to name a couple — but for the most part you could expect to see him when you head to the theater to check out the newest Marvel flick. He was such a staple of these things that pretty much everyone recognized him when he came on screen.

But Lee died late last year, meaning his run of cameos would eventually have to come to an end. Then he appeared in both...

Jay and Silent Bob Star Calls Reboot Movie Amazing and Awesome
Kevin Smith
Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back star Jason Mewes has read Kevin Smith's script for Jay and Silent Bob Reboot and says that it's "amazing." According to Smith, the new movie is expected to begin filming this fall and is expected to contain many cameos from Smith's past body of work including Clerks, Mallrats, and Chasing Amy. Jay and Silent Bob haven't been seen on the big screen together since 2006's Clerks II and fans have been asking about their return ever since, but the timing was never right.

In 2001's standalone Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, the titular characters learned that Hollywood was planning to make a big budget motion picture about their comic book alter egos, Bluntman and Chronic. The movie revolves around them taking an epic road trip to prevent the movie from happening with a whole bunch of crazy cameos from Will Ferrell, Carrie Fisher,...

The unmade films of Kevin Smith
Rob Leane Feb 13, 2017

Superman Lives, The Green Hornet and sadly now Clerks III: here’s a rundown of the Kevin Smith films we’ll probably never see...

Kevin Smith has always had to fight to get his films off the ground: he started his filmmaking career by maxing out multiple credit cards to self-finance Clerks, and more recently, legend has it, it was only Johnny Depp’s decision to come on board as a wacky supporting character that allowed Smith to secure financing for his walrus-centric horror flick Tusk.

Smith has, across his career, been offered several barmy jobs (he rejected a chance to pen Beetlejuice Goes Hawaiian back in the 90s) and he’s also signed up for a lot of projects that never got past the script phase.

The latter camp of could’ve-beens is what we’re talking about today, following that news that Clerks III...

Kevin Smith interview: Yoga Hosers, Arrow, Mallrats
Rob Leane Feb 14, 2017

Kevin Smith tells us how he wound up making Yoga Hosers, a movie about miniature Nazis made of sausage...

Among geeky film fans, Kevin Smith needs no introduction. He’s brought us such treats as Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy and Dogma, and recently he’s had a massive resurgence as a giant in the nerdy podcast world.

So far, two movies have come out of Smith’s podcasting: first was Tusk, branching out from a SModcast episode about a Gumtree advert seeking someone willing to dress up as a walrus in exchange for lodgings. Justin Long starred in that one, with Smith’s daughter Harley Quinn Smith featuring in the supporting cast alongside her best friend Lily Rose Depp and her famous father Johnny Depp.

And now we have Yoga Hosers, a spinoff from Tusk in which Smith Jnr and Depp Jnr’s Canadian convenience store clerks...

Jason Mewes at an event for The Amazing Spider-Man (2012)
'Clerks' Star Jason Mewes on His Directorial Debut With 'Madness in the Method' (Q&A)
Jason Mewes at an event for The Amazing Spider-Man (2012)
Jason Mewes occupies a unique place in the pantheon of American independent cinema. As Jay, the gabby stoner half of Jay and Silent Bob, Mewes is part of one of the most enduring twosomes in film.

Watch: First Trailer for Indie Kevin Smith Biopic Film 'Shooting Clerks'
Well this is something - an indie film about making an indie film. Shooting Clerks is a fictional feature biopic made by Christopher Downie retelling the story of Kevin Smith making his breakout debut film Clerks in 1994. The film stars Mark Frost as Kevin Smith, Chris Bain as Jason Mewes (who has appeared in other films made by Downie about Mewes), Kit Alexander as Brian O'Halloran, and Tom Sullivan as Jeff Anderson. The cast list also includes a cameo by the real Kevin Smith as Larkin Eve. As expected, this is super low budget and almost like a fan-made retelling of the original story, but it also has enough support to get a release. They'll be showing the film on a small screening tour including a showing in NYC, heading to a few other places like Orlando and New Jersey. Give this a look below if you're curious how it turned out.
