What I Learned

SPOILER: This is a fairly predictable thriller worth a look. The ending was somewhat what I figured it would be, but the villain was not quite the character I predicted. Things one learns after watching...1. Do NOT play online violent video games. 2. Do NOT use online dating services. 3. Do NOT allow strange women to stay at your place while you go to work. 4. Do NOT assume a smokin' hot chick is obsessed with you, even if you are a dweeb. 5. Do NOT ignore phone calls from your lawyer.

Social media hell

An American thriller; A story about a young advertising agency worker and cad who dates women for sexual gratification using a gamified dating app. This dark, tawdry tale bears some similarity to the film 'Play Misty For Me' in how it unfolds: a one-night stand with one person's reaction avoidance and the other person's reaction obsessional tendency before a truce; then the antagonist won't stop. The main theme was not to portray the excesses of masculinity in the digital meat market nor the idea that there will always be one crazy person out there. It is the idea that people are a good judge of their own mistakes but often a poor judge of the mistakes of others. The film succeeds in showing the dark side of modern dating and the dangers of online engagement and avoids the common trope of the villain being set up to be knocked down. All in all, it is surprisingly effective as a thriller despite the narrow scope. My verdict: Not sideswipe.

Pretty Good, can't understand really bad reviews

Not a fantastic film, but well acted, not great production value, not a new premise, but pretty entertaining with a good twist, that I did see coming. Never the less a good watch.

Give it a shot

I was really pleasantly surprised by this film. If you like thrillers then you should give this a chance. There is a very nice surprise as well that you don't expect. Nice work to the film makers.

ok..I guess

It started out promising, but sort of flopped in the end. Some of the ideas are a little far fetched and simply would not occur in real life

Swim Fan?

Tired of the tired old remakes with an updated (tinder) twist. This was literally Swim Fan. The female even looks like the psycho from Swim Fan.

Not a bad way to spend your time

If you like thrillers that are not overly long and drawn out it's a decent movie. It has enough going on to keep your attention, good twist to the ending, the acting is fine.

Like "Fatal Attraction" with a whole new twisted ending!

No Oscar winner acting, but not bad. A few holes in the plot, but the buildup to the end made it all worthwhile. I was totally shocked by the ending. Good Fatal attraction type story with a twist in why people shouldn't play with peoples lives and emotions and the cost of unbridled revenge.

Fatal attraction for the social media generation

Fairly fast paced although predictable thriller. This is an easy watch and highlights some of the pitfalls of online dating.

Saved by the bell!

Bad Match is your typical psycho/stalker theme, but the ending separated it from other movies of its genre. Both lead actors played their characters very well, and whilst it was mostly predictable, the twist made it worth watching. Dont start this one with huge expectations and its more enjoyable.

Fatal Attraction for the iPhone generation

Harris, a successful bachelor, uses dating apps to meet women for his own satisfaction, but when he meets Riley things rapidly get out of control. Is she crazy? Watch and find out! This is not in the same league as Fatal Attraction but is a reasonably good time passer. Acting is sufficiently good, the pace never gets too slow, there are a few quite brutal moments and the film does throw in some effective black humour. It is also predictable but overall I quite enjoyed it.

Only in a movie would a dating app be super effective for a guy

I saw this film on Netflix one night and it passed the time and had some interesting moments, but it was a bit predictable and just was too unbelievable in some areas to be a good film. It also looks very cheap in its production values, at times not feeling like a movie at all, but almost like a home movie. Of course, a lot of movies that get made that don't get the theatrical treatment look this way because they do not have a budget. I am sure the makers of this film thought they had a clever script and a cool twist, but neither really is the case. Still, I give them credit for their effort.

The story has this loser guy who plays video games, works his job and hooks up with girls using a dating app. Very attractive girls that he has no trouble picking up and hooking up with. Well, he swipes on a girl named Riley and soon learns that some girls want more than a one night stand. After thinking he has gotten her out of his life, his life begins to fall apart!

The movie is an unrealistic view of dating apps from the male perspective as guys do not have the success this guy does if they look like him. Men always outnumber the women by 10 to 1 minimum on this sites, so even with the guy's strategy of swiping right on all women, I still find it highly unlikely he'd be able to pick up a girl with the frequency this film was showing him have in this movie. Also, they telegraph what is going to happen at the end a bit too much in this one, suffice to say, pick up the phone when your lawyer calls and do what he says.

So, not a horrible movie by any stretch of the imagination, just needed more to it. The ending needed to be hidden a bit better, as it is most people who view it are going to figure it out. The ending scenes with the dude and Riley are pretty interesting and it has its moments where it shines, but come on, no guy would ever have this kind of success on a dating site. The film would have been more realistic if it had a female in the lead and she had a stalker come after her.

Review for Bad Match

Director:David Chirchirillo Release Date: Nov 3, 2017. MPAA Rating: Not rated. Running time: 83 MIN. In "Bad Match," Lili Simmons plays Riley in the same vein, as a spurned object of desire who will lie, manipulate, and shoot over the edge of acceptable behavior, but only to shove her humanity in Harris' face. She fakes a suicide attempt (a loathsome thing to do — but Harris' indifferent response is even worse), and by the time she begins to mess with his Twitter account,we're in a brave new world of payback. Jack Cutmore-Scott, in a strong performance, makes Harris a supremely confident dude coming apart at the seams. When the police knock at his door, and we know in our bones what they're looking for, the film turns into a cautionary pulp pressure cooker: Live by the digital gaze, die by the digital gaze.Shades of "Fatal Attraction" — but more than that, shades of every cheap thriller that ever introduced a psychological situation only to turn it into something action-y and boring. "Bad Match" often feels like it could become that kind of "ride," but it never does. It's something a shade or two more interesting: a scuzzy bro nightmare.

Production: An Orion Pictures, Gravitas Ventures release of a BoulderLight Pictures, MM2 Entertainment release. Producers: J.D. Lifshitz, Raphael Margules. Executive producer: Jo Henriquez. Director, screenplay: David Chirchirillo. Camera (color, widescreen): Ed Wu. Editor: Michael Block.

With: Jack Cutmore-Scott, Lili Simmons, Brandon Scott, Chase Williamson, Christine Donlon, Noureen DeWulf, Kahyun Kim.

Every guy can relate to this

Cute little flick. Well cast. Very relatable in this day and age. Way more realistic than the man v women left wing crap on netflix. Women are psychotic by nature. If you're a dude and you have a set You'll like it. Keep boilin those bunnies you hateful nutters

Almost a waste

There is a twist here (not gonna spoil anything), that is almost wasted in this movie. And it's because you have a main character who is really despicable. Even if you find him funny at first, you will see things he's doing that will make it hard for you to root for him. And that is what one is supposed to do, right? Well you'll see (or not), if you decide to watch this.

And while this all may sound negative and things are quite obvious and predictable, there is still quite a lot to like about this. Tough job for the actors and the director to pull something like this off. If you don't mind it and want to watch something that will not give you much, this has quite a few funny scenes ... and a very convinient neglect of ... well it had to be like that otherwise that one thing would not have worked ... which kind of cheapens it ...

Pleasant Surprise

I am not sure how I found this movie, but it happened before this came on Netflix. And I enjoyed every minute of it, though it slowed down towards the very end.

Bad Match is a movie about a guy who uses a Tinder-like dating app to meet women, almost every day of the week it seems. He sleeps with them, and then leaves them, and he seems very content in his happy lifestyle. He has a good job in an advertising company, spends time with his best friends at the local bar, and plays video games with a young kid on the internet. And he gets laid. Life couldn't get any better.

However, some girl comes in and sabotages everything. Gets him fired, threatens him, and gets him arrested. I won't spoil the ending, and the ending doesn't really even matter that much. It's just a fun movie to watch!

I thought it was entertaining, and I think most people could relate to his lifestyle, if not try to imitate it.

I don't know what more to say. The story is great, perfect movie for late twenties, early thirties crowd. Highly recommended gem.

7 Stars.
