Distracted by it's own self righteous political agenda

Why are you fighting? This isn't your world! This isn't your fight!

Sorry, can't go along with all these negative critics. The DC Animated flicks (nearly) always deliver quality. The Ray is no exception. First of all it's a classic Superhero-Origin-Story about a hero trying to find his place in life and searching for his destiny. But the creators are brave enough to choose a young, mild-mannered gay protagonist, who struggles - besides from handling his new powers - with the values and ideals of his parents. But the movie offers further messages and becomes a reflection of the current social and political developments: A gay superhero fights Nazis on a prallel-earth (this parable can't be illustrated any more clearly and strongly). Besides its' unconventional starting point the movie provides a Terminator-style setting when the resistance fights the New Reichsmen, led by Overgirl, on the dystopian Earth-X. I strongly recommend this flick to every fan of the DC Animated Universe and to every fan of good comics. Conclusion: A bold (and important) addition to the DC Animated Series, which proves the importance of comics as serious entertainment. More please...

Frustrating

My family and I were very excited to watch The Ray. I agree the movie started off great and then came the obvious forced political agenda drama and ruined a good portion of the movie. Very dissapointing for all of us.

Great with worthy theme

Unlike another review on this I highly disagree with the idea that its "forced" and "shoved down your throat" LGBTQ+ themes, these were hardly a central point. Were they mentioned yes, was it out of context no, everytime this subject was brought up it was to provide context to the story. Its a world were the Nazi won WW2 and the alt right controls the world which for anyone who knows history meant that people who are in the LGBTQ+ community would be at risk. However moving on from the political side into the ray itself, fantastic storyline with an array of talented cast members from those who are used to playing live action like Russell tovey (the ray) and Melissa benoist (overgirl) to experienced voice actors like scott whyte (blitzkrieg/Barry Allen/ the flash) and Matthew mercer (Black arrow/ the arrow/ Oliver Queen). They all came together to create a well crafted film.

Wrong focus

The focus isn't the crisis, the focus is on his lifestyle choices and relies heavily on talking points.

If you aren't into alternate lifestyle choices, this show is boring and misdirected.

If you want a superhero story, it's barely there.

I want to enjoy these stories, but this one didn't cut it for me. It was focused on all the wrong things.

When a powerful person threatens a politician to get his way, that's terrorism. They try to excuse it, but it's weak. He did it. Is this how we're supposed to think of these things? That when we don't get our way we should resort to terrorism? Sad, because it really sends the wrong message.

They couldn't use logical arguments or have a rational discussion.

This one was not for me.

For the 1% who want the agenda, this one's for you.

Woke and silly rewrite of comic

I was hoping for greatness, could have been great. Good art. Diverse sets. Awesome crossover heroes with Red Tornado, the transporter kid from Flash TV, a Black Falcon type dude, others. The alphabet soup killed it, cost it 5 stars: both distracting and silly. Just pass. Too bad.

Don't listen to the negative critics

This show is amazing. It has great comedy, action and an amazing storyline. I love the origin of The Ray and I hope to see Russell more in the Arrowverse
