Superbad is one of the best coming-of-age movies. The main characters fall victim to their circumstances as they try to head to an epic party. It's a non-stop laugh-out-loud journey for the audience, with plenty of nostalgia and relatable character arcs. Superbad follows Evan and Seth, played by Michael Cera and Jonah Hill, as best friends on the cusp of big life changes. When this film emerged, it elevated coming-of-age stories, packing them with one-liners and awkward teen moments. While Superbad focused on humor, the more recent Ddi had a different plan. Ddi builds a one-of-a-kind story arc around one pre-teen's awkward journey of self-discovery.
In a handful of ways, Ddi is similar to Superbad but diverges slightly from the comedy and pulls the focus more toward the life of one angsty thirteen-year-old boy. Chris Wang, played by Izaac Wang, struggles to find his place in the world, where exactly...

After years of doubting the viability of cinema releases, "Barbie" and "Oppenheimer" have effectively put those fears to rest ... at least for a while. After one big blockbuster after another, August seems surprisingly light, with major players seemingly afraid to try and compete with the Barbenheimer craze. With the undeniable success of "Oppenheimer," Universal Pictures are seeking to continue its run with a film that is the polar opposite of the Cillian Murphy-led biopic: a talking dog movie.
The mere phrase "talking dog movie" is enough elicit groans. While talking-animal movies are prominent in animation, the live-action counterparts tend to be various levels of unbearable -- consider "Marmaduke," "Think Like A Dog," or the "Cats & Dogs" franchise. But "Strays" seeks to buck the trend of disastrous talking-dog movies, and it's got some surprising pedigree behind it. Josh Duhamel is in talks to star opposite Jennifer Lopez in the Lionsgate romantic adventure “Shotgun Wedding,” replacing Armie Hammer in the lead role.
Hammer dropped out of the project last Wednesday, with a representative for the production explaining, “Given the imminent start date, Armie has requested to step away from the film and we support him in his decision.”
Duhamel would star as Tom, opposite Lopez’s Darcy, in the film about a couple who gathers their families together for a destination wedding. Things start to go south, however, after the pair gets cold feet. But it really takes a turn for the worst when the entire wedding party is taken hostage.
The Lionsgate project was first announced last fall. Jason Moore will direct from a screenplay by Mark Hammer and Liz Meriwether. The film will be produced by Mandeville’s Todd Lieberman and David Hoberman, who previously produced “Wonder” for the studio,...

Josh Duhamel is early in talks to replace Armie Hammer in Lionsgate’s “Shotgun Wedding,” opposite Jennifer Lopez, according to an individual with knowledge of the project.
Hammer dropped out the movie amid a social media firestorm about what the actor calls “bulls– claims” about him.
“Given the imminent start date of ‘Shotgun Wedding,’ Armie has requested to step away from the film and we support him in his decision,” a production spokesperson said. The role will be recast.
Hammer’s decision to leave the project came after leaked messages purporting to detail the star’s sex life, including a supposed interested in cannibalism and rape fantasies, surfaced on an Instagram account under the name House of Effie. The actor has flatly disputed the legitimacy of the DMs.

Did HBO Max just provide a preview of what we can expect in the upcoming Oscar campaign awards season (if there is one)?
Last night I attended my first virtual world premiere. The occasion was created online for HBO Max’s upcoming series Love Life, starring Anna Kendrick in an anthology series that features a different protagonist each season revolving around weekly episodes with a new love interest each time. In what may be a harbinger of some of the pandemic-created changes we will see cross over to movie awards season, was this a successful attempt to create the feeling of a real Hollywood or New York premiere at a time when people are not allowed to party or walk physical red carpets, much less sit in a theater together, as would be the normal case for an event like this? HBO has always been a big proponent of holding theatrical-style premieres for their shows,...

"I would do anything to acquire this technology." Lionsgate has debuted an official trailer for a fun-for-the-whole-family comedy titled Think Like a Dog, being released direct-to-vod starting in June this summer. A 12-year-old tech prodigy's "hear your thoughts" science experiment goes awry and he forges a telepathic connection with his best friend, his dog named Henry. The duo join forces and use their unique perspectives on life to comically overcome complications of family and school. Starring Gabriel Bateman as the boy, Todd Stashwick as the dog's voice, with Josh Duhamel, Megan Fox, Janet Montgomery, Madison Horcher, and Kunal Nayyar. This looks charming, but also super cheesy and cliche - the same plot we've seen before in all these movies. Don't let evil corporate bad guy steal the tech, save your family, get the girl. Here's the first official trailer for Gil Junger's Think Like a Dog, direct from Lionsgate's...

“Jennifer’s Body” is celebrating its 10th anniversary this month, but the movie’s release wasn’t exactly the best of times for star Megan Fox. The movie was marketed heavily on the actress’ sex appeal, which had become something of an obsession in Hollywood following Fox’s breakout role in Michael Bay’s “Transformers.” In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Fox said that constantly being sexualized by Hollywood created a “fraught relationship” between her and both the press and the public.
“It wasn’t just that movie, it was everyday of my life, all the time, with every project I worked on and every producer I worked with,” Fox said. “It preceded a breaking point for me. I think I had a genuine psychological breakdown where I wanted just nothing to do.”
Fox continued, “I didn’t want to be seen, I didn’t want to have to take a photo,...
