Elvis Costello said that he had no idea why the scenes with the celebrity impersonators of King Charles III and Princess Diana were included, saying that they were the director's idea. The video depicts Diana as utterly bored and showing no interest in Charles, who does everything from dressing up as a swashbuckler like the ones in the movie Diana is watching, to diving through a flaming hoop. Essentially, the video was saying that their marriage was already doomed, only two years into it.
