Pawny is voiced by actor, comedian, and Oscar-nominated writer Kumail Nanjiani, who has appeared in an impressive number of critically acclaimed television shows and movies.

You may have first heard Nanjiani's distinctive voice as part of the 2011 video game podcast The Indoor Kids, which he cohosted at one point with his wife, Emily V. Gordon. He also made regular guest appearances on Community and Rick and Morty creator Dan Harmon's podcast Harmontown.

In 2011, we also saw Nanjiani cast as agoraphobic attorney Pindar Singh on the TNT series Franklin & Bash, where he would continue to play a supporting role until the show's third season in 2014. The 15th annual New York Comedy Festival has revealed the lineup of comedians for the weeklong event that runs Nov. 5-11.

Dan Harmon apologized Monday for a decades-old video that caused an online furor because it portrayed pedophilia.

“In 2009, I made a ‘pilot’ which strove to parody the series ‘Dexter’ and only succeeded in offending. I quickly realized the content was way too distasteful and took the video down immediately. Nobody should ever have to see what you saw and for that, I sincerely apologize,” he said in a statement obtained by TheWrap Monday night.

“Rick and Morty” and “Community” creator Dan Harmon left Twitter as an old sketch emerged in which he plays a therapist who sexually assaults babies.

Some conservatives, most notably right-wing provocateur Mike Cernovich, fueled online outrage over the 2009 sketch “Daryl,” a parody of Showtime’s “Dexter.” The video resurfaced recently as part of a coordinated online campaign against left-leaning figures on Twitter. Last week, James Gunn lost his job directing the next “Guardians of the Galaxy” film after Cernovich and others flagged his old Twitter jokes about pedophilia and rape.

The conservatives pointing out the old jokes say that liberals should be held to the same standards as conservatives who are ousted over offensive remarks. But critics of the effort say there’s a difference between old jokes that were deliberately designed to offend and public statements made in apparent seriousness.

“Rick and Morty” and “Community” creator Dan Harmon has several small screen projects in the works, so naturally, now is the perfect time to step into the world of music too. Harmon is executive producing a comedy rap album from New York-based comedian Rob Tanchum — and that’s no joke.

“Disturbed, Depressed, Inadequate” is a comedic concept rap album about Tanchum, a depressed loser from Earth, who is abducted by alien scientists (Harmon and his “Harmontown” podcast co-host Jeff Davis) who probe his unconscious mind and extract a concept album of self-loathing, id-driven rap songs.
