Tony Bennett’s Wife Susan Benedetto Reveals His Last Words
Image
The late Tony Bennett’s wife Susan Benedetto has revealed his last words prior to passing away last month in an interview with Hoda Kotb on Today.

According to Benedetto, her husband’s last words were “that he loved me” — a sentiment Bennett continued to express even during his worst struggles with Alzheimer’s disease. “He would wake up every day and still say that,” she added. “He woke up happy every day. Even if he had had a bad day or night, he didn’t remember it. That was the only blessing. He woke up happy. And he’s just like, ‘Susan. You’re the best thing that ever happened to me.’ And he would say that to me all the time.”

Benedetto and Bennett’s eldest son, Danny, also revealed that Bennett still remembered how to play his songs right up until his death. In fact, he sang...

Kelly Clarkson's Las Vegas Residency Is a Cathartic Experience From Start to Finish
Image
Crying at Kelly Clarkson's Las Vegas residency was something I fully expected to happen. But what I didn't anticipate was the cathartic journey I would embark on. On Aug. 2, the three-time Grammy winner performed her third show of "Chemistry… An Intimate Night With Kelly Clarkson" at Planet Hollywood's Bakkt Theater. And similarly to her latest album, which her residency is named after, Clarkson took the audience through an array of emotions as she reflected on the highs and low of love while immersing the crowd in music that spanned her two-decades-long career.

Clarkson kicked off the night with one of her newer songs, "Favorite Kind of High," before diving into a medley of some of her greatest hits, including "Behind These Hazel Eyes," "My Life Would Suck Without You," "I Do Not Hook Up," "Catch My Breath," and "Because of You."

"There's something so special and cool about music.

Tony Bennett’s Son, Wife Share Singer’s Final Moments, Words Before Death
Image
Tony Bennett’s wife and son are remembering the life and legacy of the iconic singer as well as their final moments with him before his death.

Susan Benedetto and Danny Bennett made an appearance on the Today show Thursday, nearly two weeks after Bennett died at the age of 96, according to publicist Sylvia Weiner. Although his cause of death is unknown at this point, in February 2021, he revealed that he had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease five years prior.

But the disease didn’t slow the Grammy-winning singer down at all. He proceeded to go on tour and show up in the recording studio. Danny said when he would ask his father if he wanted to take a break, he would be like, “I don’t know what you’re talking about. You know, I wanna keep singing.”

He added that when they would “take him to the doctor…...

Tony Bennett’s Wife & Son Reveal His Final Words and Last Song He Sang to Them
Image
Legendary crooner Tony Bennett passed away on Friday, July 21, at the age of 96, and now his widow, Susan Benedetto, and one of his four sons, Danny Bennett, are opening up about the singer’s final days. Bennett was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2016, but Benedetto said that he still remembered his songs. “He could do that,” she told the Today show’s Hoda Kotb in an interview that aired Thursday, August 3. “It’s amazing,” Danny said, adding that “even just a week before he passed away,” his father was still singing his famous songs. “He sang ‘Because of You,'” Benedetto shared. “We were getting him up to exercise, and so it was easy to just latch onto the piano. And I said, ‘Ton, why don’t you get up and you can sing?’ You know, any excuse to just get him up. I said, ‘Why don’t you sing?...

Lady Gaga Calls Tony Bennett Her “Real True Friend” in Touching Tribute
Image
Tony Bennett is being remembered by his longtime collaborator Lady Gaga.

“I will miss my friend forever,” she said of Bennett, who died July 21. “I will miss singing with him, recording with him, talking with him, being on stage together. With Tony, I got to live my life in a time warp. Tony and I had this magical power. We transported ourselves to another era, modernized the music together, & gave it all new life as a singing duo. But it wasn’t an act. Our relationship was very real.”

In her Instagram post, Gaga went on to share how Bennett taught her about music, life and maintaining a positive attitude.

“He also showed me how to keep my spirits high and my head screwed on straight. ‘Straight ahead,’ he’d say,'” her post on Sunday continued. “He was an optimist, he believed in quality work And quality life. Plus,...

Emmy hug for ‘One Last Time: An Evening with Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga’?
Image
Tony Bennett has been part of the pop cultural landscape for over seven decades. The 96-year-old scored his first hit song, “Because of You,” in 1951, the year he made his first TV appearances on a long-forgotten variety series “Star of the Family.” He recorded his signature tune, “I Left My Heart in San Francisco’ in 1962. Other hits included “Rags to Riches,” which Martin Scorsese used brilliantly on the soundtrack of his 1990 masterpiece “Goodfellas” and the Oscar-winning “The Shadow of Your Smile” from 1965’s “The Sandpiper.”

Unlike the crooners Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin, movie success eluded Bennett. Just check out his film debut in the overstuff 1966 turkey “The Oscar.” His career waned. Rock was hot and Bennett wasn’t. He stopped recording in the late 1970s and was in lot of debt. He turned to drugs but a near death drowning experience in his bathtub changed his life and lifestyle.

The Junior Division comprises acts under the age of 18 with up to four members. ‘The Voice’ Recap: Searching for the Self
The Voice (2011)
As guest singing coaches on The Voice go, it’s hard to do better than Mariah Carey for sheer, astounding talent and helpful advice. The soulful diva spent the second night of Knockouts repeatedly stressing how important it was for her to hear someone do his or her own thing with a song and, in the end, it was those kinds of singers who would advance to the next round.

Strangely, one of those moments would come when a competitor made the gutsy decision to sing coach Kelly Clarkson’s “Because of You.

Adam Levine at an event for The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show (2011)
If we didn’t know I sucked at predictions before, we sure do now. As we headed into Night 2 of The Voice’s Season 15 Knockouts, five singers I’d expected not to make it through had competed… and every last one of them had made it through! Mind you, the coaches had been making some straaange calls Monday. Particularly bewildering was Adam Levine’s insistence on keeping around Tyke James’ lustrous mane — and, unfortunately, Tyke with it! And who could’ve guessed that Katrina Cain would fall apart so disastrously? (Well, I suppose technically, we all could’ve guessed after her Battle went so poorly.
