Everything is wrong. The casting, the score, the production design.
Everything.
So very disappointed.
If you want a biography that takes you from A to Z in a superficial manner then Tina and Bobby fits the bill.
If you want something in depth and insightful then this is not it. This is just a starring vehicle for actress Michelle Keegan who plays Bobby Moore's glamorous wife. The actor who plays Moore comes across as a bit of a wet fish, nothing like the steely defender who kept the Brazilian attack at bay in 1970 or marshalled an England team to world cup victory.
The first episode concentrates on the newly married Tina and Bobby and his brush with testicular cancer. The second episode was the 1966 and 1970 World Cups as well as the notorious bracelet theft incident. The drama had to mix footage of the England v West Germany final from the ITV archives, the coloured film footage and the BBC scenes with Kenneth Wolstenholme's line of 'they think it's all over.' The final episode dealt with Bobby's financial troubles and problems in his marriage when Tina discovered his affair.
This was a poorly produced biography, somewhere there is a better tale of Bobby Moore that remains to be written and shown.

Both actors who portrayed of Tina and Bobby were so bad that it was just painful to watch. Michelle Keegan has a great management behind her and obviously she pulls in the audience due to her celebrity hype, but she is not in the class of someone who can hold a lead in a drama. It really showed in this drama. Her cockney accent often fell off back to her northern accent. At times it was so bad you didn't know what she was saying.
I wouldn't waste your time watching this, as you will truly be wasting your time. Even established actors that were in the drama didn't save the show.
If Michelle Keegan is to develop into a serious actor, then she need to take herself out of being a female lead and go back to basics of learning from those who can. Don't get me wrong, she is not a bad actress but is just not good enough yet.

This is commercial TV and ITV in particular at its worst, it truly is a dreadful program, but I guess they will broadcast anything to keep their ad revenues flowing. This must me one of the worst scripts ever to have been written for TV, there is absolutely nothing of any note to grab your attention. The acting from everyone is equally appalling, especially from the so-called lead actors. I read that Mark Wright was raving about his wife Michelle Keegan's portrayal of Tina Moore and was quoted as saying "She's Special". Lol, what was he going to say! Someone should stop blowing smoke up these so-called celebs you know what and tell them the truth. Have some balls and tell Michelle Keegan that cosmetics, i.e. teeth, eyebrows, a face plastered with make-up and what some deem an attractive body, do not an actress make! Incidentally, who thought is was a good idea to make a girl with black eyebrows a blond. As for Lorne MacFadyen as Bobby Moore, just embarrassing. What a terrible performance. With more and more fantastic series being brought to us by IMDb, Netflix, Amazon, Sky Atlantic, etc, I am pretty sure we can look forward to a lot more dreadful series as this on ITV.
Bobby Moore was a great player, no Beckenbaeur or Maldini but being English and a World Cup winning captain he'll always be hailed as the greatest in the English media. The latest in biopics and documentaries of a story that has been done to death, a World Cup win 5 decades ago but this one focuses on Tina more than Bobby. Michelle Keegan plays Tina Moore like a second rate Sheridan Smith and the actor playing Bobby would send an insomniac to sleep with his dull persona. The football scenes are poorly done, not once are you convinced that any actor is genuinely watching their country watch a game of football or indeed see them win a World Cup. Found myself feeling a bit embarrassed for the actors and actresses in this is so poorly done. Watch the film 'Bobby' if you really feel the need to have more (excuse the pun) of 66 rammed down your throat but give this a miss.
