Bittersweet romance

It starts out as a very cute romance movie (although the girl is overdoing the awkward, shy act a little bit) but the premise of the boy only having one year left to live is a setup for such a blatant tear-jerker, so better strap in for a ride on the roller coaster of emotions. A few scenes almost seem out of order and confused me. For example we learn about the boy's condition very early in the movie from a scene where the girl's parents are talking about it, when by that time they haven't even met him and the issue hasn't even come up yet. They could have introduced that a little better. But it's an enjoyable film, definitely more uplifting than gloomy, the acting is great and there are some likeable side characters.
