Could Elsbeth be welcoming another The Good Wife alum back into the fold? Mike Colter certainly isn’t ruling it out. The actor, known for playing crime boss Lemond Bishop in The Good Wife and The Good Fight, spoke on a panel hosted by Collider’s Maggie Lovitt at Indiana Comic Con, where he shared his thoughts on a potential return to Robert and Michelle King’s legal universe. Colter revealed that he’s already been on the set of Elsbeth, CBS’ procedural spin-off starring Carrie Preston, and has close ties to several members of the cast. More importantly, he sees a path for his appearance on the show, but it depends on the right circumstances. Colter also noted that Michael Emerson, his co-star on Evil, was a recurring star on the series. He told audiences:...

Pictured: Carrie Preston as Elsbeth Tascioni Photo: Michael Parmelee/CBS ©2025 CBS Broadcasting, Inc. All Rights Reserved. Carrie Preston has now been living with the character of Elsbeth Tascioni for almost 15 years. After making her debut near the end of The Good Wife’s first season, she returned for guest appearances in all but one of the show’s seven seasons, then came back for five episodes of spinoff The Good Fight before getting a show of her own. For the uninitiated, let’s just say that Tascioni is a uniquely quirky character, from her mannerisms to her speech patterns to her wardrobe. Though unusual, her fashion choices undeniably suit Preston. She even spoke about whether the character’s look has influenced her real-life style. Some astute fans of Elsbeth, CBS' quirky police procedural comedy / drama that stars Carrie Preston as the title character, think a famous director may have had an uncredited cameo. In the episode, which is titled Scenes From an Italian Restaurant, unconventional attorney Elsbeth Tascioni is trying to solve an old Mafia murder. She watches a fictional film about the show, City on a Knife Edge, and listens to director Francis Martino's commentary. And it appears none other than David Fincher was playing the voice of Martino.
Elsbeth is a spinoff of two popular CBS shows, The Good Wife (2009 to 2016), and The Good Fight (2017 to 2022), which featured Preston as Tascioni. The first season premiered on CBS on Feb. 29, 2024 and was quickly renewed for a second season by Apr. 2024. While the character is an unorthodox attorney, she uses her singular point-of-view to help solve cases. Preston won a Primetime Emmy in 2013 for...

CBS has made a big decision on Elsbeth. Will the quirky investigator be back solving crimes for season 3?
Elsbeth was one of the bigger TV surprises of 2024. On paper it sounded like a weird idea: Carrie Preston reprising her Emmy-winning role from The Good Wife and The Good Fight as eccentric attorney Elsbeth Tascioni. Rather than have it be a legal dramedy, the series is instead a crime procedural of Elsbeth working with the NYPD to solve murders.
While ordered in May 2023, the series was put off due to the Hollywood strikes of that year. It premiered (appropriately) on Leap Day 2024 and was a quick success. The series did connect with viewers, mostly thanks to Preston’s delightful performance. It earned a second season renewal which premiered in fall 2024.

Blue Bloods fans have reason to celebrate on this fine Tuesday afternoon.
After months of rumblings, a spinoff of the Tom Selleck-fronted procedural is a go.
CBS confirmed the news that the franchise would expand, and the first details are interesting, to say the least.
(Courtesy of CBS)
The series is titled Boston Blue, which, as you’ve probably gathered, means we’ll be leaving New York behind.
Boston Blue focuses on Donnie Wahlberg‘s Danny Reagan, who takes a position with Boston Pd.
(CBS/Michael Parmalee)
“Once in Boston, he is paired with detective Lena Peters, the eldest daughter of a prominent law enforcement family,” the logline teases.
Beyond that, all we know is that Boston Blue has nabbed a straight-to-series order and will premiere sometime in the 2025-2026 TV season.

Emerson is always great in a villainous role, but it’s even better watching him play the Big Bad opposite his wife, Carrie Preston, who anchors The Good Fight spinoff as the eccentric Elsbeth Tascioni. Elsbeth’s strong sense of justice has led her to this bitter rivalry with Crawford, whom viewers already know is guilty of murder and is ready to go to extreme lengths to stop Elsbeth from discovering the truth. He already tried to ruin her career by leaking the Van Ness divorce scandal to the press in the December midseason finale, but that battle’s been won as of the February 6 episode on CBS. Only a show like Elsbeth could create an episode based around one of the most exhausting forms of new-age medicine and infuse it with the titular character’s patented campy charm.
Seriously, any time I hear the term “Western medicine,” I immediately cringe over the lecture I’m about to endure.
Besides, western drugs brought us Vicks, a miracle of modern medicine.
(Michael Parmelee/CBS)
For once, Elsbeth met someone with less respect for boundaries than she has. It takes a talented actor to come off as creepy, exhausting, and delusionally sincere without it feeling too over the top
Then again, we expected nothing less than the best from a television vet like Eric McCormack.
Eric McCormack Was Maybe a Little Convincing in His Role as the Most Exhausting Man on the East Coast
Good for McCormack for not just sitting at home counting his royalty checks from his years on Will & Grace.

Striking that balance was no easy feat, but the show’s creators — Robert and Michelle King — and Carrie Preston, who brought Elsbeth to life, made it look effortless. Now, with the spinoff series Elsbeth running for two seasons, the Kings and Preston reflect on the story behind the character’s creation and what made her such a beloved figure. The upcoming Hulu thriller Paradise is about to get a network streaming debut! Find out when and where!
Usually, streaming shows and network shows are pretty separate and rarely mix even if the same company owns the channels. That’s what makes it notable when a streaming show will have a big premiere on networks as well.
That’s the case with Paradise as Variety reports that the new thriller, which will debut on Hulu on Tuesday, Jan. 28, will also get a network release as well. The first three episodes of the series will first premiere on Hulu on that day.
Then, on Wednesday, Jan. 29, the series premiere will broadcast on ABC at 10/9c. Following that, on Saturday, Feb. 1, the premiere will air on FX at 10/9c. After that, new episodes will drop only on Hulu.

Carrie Preston is used to dealing with all sorts of nonsense in Elsbeth, the off-shoot of The Good Wife and The Good Fight, but she is going to have to face a whole new level of trouble when it comes to the February 6 episode of the hit CBS series. Preston will be joined in the episode by two big names in guest roles. Alan Ruck, who made his big breakthrough in Ferris Bueller's Day Off, appears as a Wall Street bigwig who is unceremoniously murdered, and the suspect? His identical twin brother, who will be played by Alan Ruck. Fine casting, if you ask us.

FBI: International Season 4, Episode 8, "You'll Never See It Coming" is a continuation of the story from the Season 4 premiere. It's also a big step down from that episode. Ever since her debut on a 2010 episode of The Good Wife, Elsbeth Tascioni (Carrie Preston) has sung the praises of her son, Teddy, to anyone willing to listen, as well as everyone else in her vicinity. Now, fourteen years and two spin-offs later, Teddy finally made his in-the-flesh debut at the tail end of the December 5 episode of Elsbeth on CBS, played by Ben Levi Ross.
While a relatively new face for TV enthusiasts, Broadway fans might be more familiar with the young actor. He served as an understudy for the title character in Dear Evan Hansen on Broadway before taking on the role during its first tour across the United States. Other theater credits include Ragtime at the New York City Center, and Gatsby: An American Myth at the American Repertory Theatre. He made his feature film debut in 2021's Tick, Tick... Boom!, and Elsbeth marks his first regular television gig.

Carrie Preston first appeared as Elsbeth Tascioni when the hit CBS series, The Good Wife, debuted in 2010. She reprised her role in the Paramount+ spin-off, The Good Fight, and now the Emmy-winning star is back in a new city with a new job. The latest spin-off, Elsbeth, premiered in February 2024 and is currently airing its second season.
Formerly a Chicago-based lawyer, Elsbeth sees its title character take a gig as a consulting detective for the NYPD, solving crimes every week with her unique blend of insight, quick thinking, and even quicker wit. The show wears its Columbo influence on its sleeve, with most episodes revealing the identity of the murderer at the beginning of the hour. Thus, the excitement comes not from deducing the identity of the killer, but unraveling their motives. Elsbeth discovers the truth with her trademark brand of heart, humor, and sense of justice.

Against larger Hollywood trends towards embracing cultural identity, Jewish characters on TV are still depicted as hiding or playing down their Jewishness, according to a new study from USC Annenberg Norman Lear Center’s Media Impact Project.
The study, undertaken with the support of the Jewish Institute for Television and Cinema Hollywood Bureau, also confirmed that “Jewface” really does exist, noting that only about half of Jewish characters are played by confirmed Jewish actors. It also pointed out that Jewish actresses are 21 percent less likely to be cast as Jewish characters than their male counterparts are.
The study is the first of its kind to focus on Jewish representation since 1999 and predates the Oct. 7 Hamas attack on Israel and ensuing war in Gaza, which has led to an explosive 60 percent increase in antisemitic hate crimes. Still, incidents of antisemitism rose in the period covered by the study, which analyzed 108 Jewish...

[Warning: The following contains Major spoilers for Elsbeth Season 2 Episode 6, “Gold, Frankincense, and Murder.”] Carrie Preston‘s Elsbeth Tascioni got a very special gift at the end of Elsbeth‘s first Christmas episode on December 5 on CBS. After solving the murder mystery of the week — which featured Christopher Fitzgerald (the original Boq in Wicked on Broadway) and SNL‘s Vanessa Bayer as a lethally unhappy couple at the head of a Christmas commercialism empire — Kaya (Carra Patterson) helped arrange a surprise so Elsbeth wouldn’t be alone on Christmas. Kaya and Captain Wagner (Wendell Pierce) brought a surprise guest to Elsbeth’s for the holidays: her son, Teddy Tascioni! Teddy has been only been mentioned, never seen throughout The Good Wife, The Good Fight, and this Preston-led spinoff, but that changed when Ben Levi Ross made his series debut in the final moments of the episode. Teddy spends every other Christmas with his dad, and this...

There may be a massive surplus of films and TV shows that tell the story of Jesus, but The Chosen has made history by being the first multi-season series about the prominent Christian figure. Since the first time Carrie Preston stepped into the shoes of quirky attorney Elsbeth Tascioni in The Good Wife and its spin-off The Good Fight — a role she won an Emmy for in 2016 — she has brought a smile to viewers’ faces with her character’s unusual approach to problem-solving. Rtl Group revenues dipped 5.5% to €1.34B ($1.42B) in the third quarter, as lower turnover at Too Hot to Handle maker Fremantle dragged the figures down.
Fremantle’s Q3 numbers were not revealed in the unaudited financial statement released this morning, and low advertising revenue was also cited as a reason for the fall. However, across the nine months to September 2024, Fremantle has seen its revenue fall 7.1% to €1.43B, with Rtl saying “the growth of the content market was lower than expected.”
Production and distribution giant Fremantle has also spent big on Asacha Media Group and Beach House Pictures this year, and Rtl CEO Thomas Rabe forecasted a “strong content line-up in the fourth quarter” will “significantly increase” full-year adjusted earnings. Fremantle is set to deliver shows such as Netflix’s Battle Camp, Prime Video’s Costiera, BBC series The Listeners and doc Vietnam: The War That Changed America in the fourth quarter.

CBS' spinoff series Elsbeth returned in late 2024 for its triumphant sophomore season, but will the quirky police procedural score a season 3 renewal? Premiering at mid-season during the 2023-2024 TV schedule, Elsbeth follows the titular character, (an unusual but skilled attorney) who is sent by the US Department of Justice to oversee the NYPD and investigate the department for corruption. However, the astute observer can't help but use her brilliant perspective to help the police crack cases and steer the detectives in the right direction. Multilayered and humorous, Elsbeth is as character-driven as it is a conventional police procedural.

These days, it feels like almost every new series has to kick off a franchise or inspire a host of spin-offs in order to justify its existence. Prime Video's The Boys spawned Gen V, as well as an animated anthology, Taylor Sheridan's Yellowstone has grown the Dutton dynasty through two prequel shows to date, and we probably wouldn't have Elsbeth on CBS without The Good Wife or The Good Fight. When the Russo Brothers' Citadel initially premiered in 2023, it was confirmed as an "international event series," with spin-off shows planned in settings ranging from the Italian Alps to Mexico. Citadel: Diana, which dropped last month, further develops the Spyverse, with the bulk of the story featuring Matilda De Angelis' titular heroine set between Seasons 1 and 2 of the flagship show.

Brian Bonsall started acting on Family Ties when he was 5 years old, playing the role of Andy Keaton through the show's final three seasons.
He said of his time on Family Ties: "Good memories for sure. They were a second family to me, growing up doing that ... Michael J. Fox used to come pick me up in his Ferrari, taught me to dive into a pool. It was so comfortable hanging out."
The break helped him appear in more 1990s shows, including Father Hood and Blank Check, until he retired in 1995. He later shifted his career and pursued his passion for music with several bands.
Bonsall found himself in trouble when he was arrested in Boulder, Colo.

Carrie Preston as Elsbeth Tascioni Photo: Michael Parmelee/CBS ©2024 CBS Broadcasting, Inc. All Rights Reserved. From The Good Wife to The Good Fight and now to her own spin-off, Elsbeth, fans have grown accustomed to the character Elsbeth Tascioni’s endearing eccentricities. For example, you always seem to see her with three bags. While that might seem like a minor detail, possibly born of some Ocd tendencies, Carrie Preston — who’s played Elsbeth for more than 14 years – spoke about how she thinks there’s much more significance behind the distinctive character trait. And, she added, there’s even more significance to the occasional scenes in Elsbeth in which you see her without her bags. Elsbeth has several core actors in its season 2 cast. The cozy mystery stars Carrie Preston as the title character, an eccentric attorney first seen in The Good Wife but who has now moved to New York City. Elsbeth season 2 again has the title character consulting with the NYPD about officer behavior while also solving murder mysteries in a Columbo-like manner, as the audience already knows the identity of each week's killer.
There are many stars from The Good Wife and The Good Fight who could visit Elsbeth. However, for the most part, the series is not engaging in this type of casting for season 2. Instead, Elsbeth has a small core cast, consisting only of the title character and the police officers she works with. Villains and suspects are played by a rotating guest star cast, and some guest stars might be more well-known than others.
