Ernie Hudson has played many roles, but one stands out the most: the one of Winston Zeddemore in the Ghostbusters franchise. The actor played the character in all the films but didn't voice him in any of the two animated series.
Speaking to Brittany Frederick of Cbr to promote his new project, Angry Birds: Mystery Island, Hudson also addressed one of his most recognizable roles: Winston. The actor, who voices Marlon in the new animated series' Episode 4, "A-squawk-alypse Now," noted he would love to do more voice work in the future. That also applies to his Ghostbusters character, whom he played in all four films, but not the animated series, and he would like the chance in the future.

Quick Links What Was the Ghostbusters Cinematic Universe? Why a Ghostbusters Cinematic Universe is a Missed Opportunity Why the Time is Perfect for a Ghostbusters Cinematic Universe Ghostbusters was once rumored to have its own cinematic universe. Several creative choices and divisive reception ended the concept of a Ghostbusters cinematic universe. The idea of a larger Ghostbusters universe opens up fascinating possibilities and a way to explore loose plot threads.
Ghostbusters has expanded in ways few franchises ever had, but unfortunately, a shared cinematic universe seems to escape its proton streams. When discussing the movies, the Ghostbusters series always opened itself to a larger world and realms beyond. While theaters may seem oversaturated with superheroes and crossovers involving them, the Ghostbusters franchise could’ve made a shared universe that’d change the course of Sony’s cinematic history. However, as Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire slides into theaters - and the series continues on the big screen,...

The female-led “Ghostbusters” released this past summer was tainted with online criticism and sexist backlash ever since fans of the 1984 original film got word that the reboot starred four women. There were previous talks about a sequel, but after taking in less than expected at the box office no word on a second “Ghostbusters” has been confirmed.
In a new interview with Mr. Wavvy’s podcast, Ivan Reitman, director of the original film and producer on the remake, stated that there are many “Ghostbusters” projects in the works, though he didn’t specify what they would be.
“There’s going to be many other ‘Ghostbusters’ movies, they’re just in development right now,” Reitman stated.

Back during production of Paul Feig's "Ghostbusters" reboot, one of the more unexpected rumors that floated around was that Sony Pictures was simultaneously developing further plans for the "Ghostbusters" franchise which would include a male-centered installment ahead of a potential team-up film.
At the time the likes of Chris Pratt and Channing Tatum were rumored, claims that Pratt dismissed as "complete bulls--t". Still, the reports continued for a while and even went as far as suggesting the project was potentially a back-up plan in case Feig's reboot didn't work.
Then, all of a sudden, the rumors stopped and nothing has been heard about them since until today when original series director Ivan Reitman has spoken about those reports with The Globe and Mail. Reitman, who produced the new reboot, has confirmed that an additional film was floated as an idea but it never got very far:

In March 2015, it was reported Sony was working on another Ghostbusters film besides Paul Feig's new reboot. It was said to star Channing Tatum (with Chris Pratt later linked) and heavily suggested by pretty much everyone other than those involved that it would be "all-male." But Ivan Reitman is now saying the project was "never real." Feig's film, which is looking to take second place at the box office this weekend with a healthy $46 million, stars Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones, Melissa McCarthy, and Kristen Wiig. When it was first announced it was met with a great deal of backlash -- backlash which Sony chairman Tom Rothman said was "the greatest thing that ever happened." While producer Reitman considers that response to be from those for whom Ghostbusters was a seminal moment in their lives, somehow the Channing Tatum/Chris Pratt version was not considered something that would ruin childhoods.
