July Will Be a Sad Month for ‘Overlord’ Fans
Image
In typical Netflix fashion, the streaming giant is already gearing up for the removal of several favorites, including some high-profile movies, series, and a couple of Netflix Originals, ahead of next month. Among these works of art is the beloved isekai anime series, Overlord, as confirmed by What’s on Netflix. All four seasons of Overlord depart Netflix on July 1, about three weeks away, which may not be enough time for fans to revisit the 52-episode series.

While this may be saddening, several other options are available to stream Overlord. Crunchyroll currently streams all four seasons but may not be as easily accessible as Netflix. Hulu offers Overlord, too, but unfortunately, only Season 1 is available on the streamer. Meanwhile, for physical media collectors, retailers list each collection for around $30-40, depending on the format.

Overlord is based on Kugane Maruyama’s eponymous light novel series and was produced by Madhouse...

Horror Highlights: M3GAN 2.0, Black Phone 2, Five Nights At Freddy’S 2, Blumhouse Games
Image
Watch the New Trailer for M3GAN 2.0: "The murderous doll who captivated pop culture in 2023 is back. And this time she’s not alone.

The original creative team behind that phenomenon—led by horror titans James Wan for Atomic Monster, Jason Blum for Blumhouse and director Gerard Johnstone—reboot an all-new wild chapter in A.I. mayhem with M3GAN 2.0.

Two years after M3GAN, a marvel of artificial intelligence, went rogue and embarked on a murderous (and impeccably choreographed) rampage and was subsequently destroyed, M3GAN’s creator Gemma (Allison Williams) has become a high-profile author and advocate for government oversight of A.I. Meanwhile, Gemma’s niece Cady (Violet McGraw), now 14, has become a teenager, rebelling against Gemma’s overprotective rules.

Unbeknownst to them, the underlying tech for M3GAN has been stolen and misused by a powerful defense contractor to create a military-grade weapon known as Amelia, the ultimate killer infiltration spy.

Black Phone 2 Debuts Terrifying New Trailer As Ethan Hawke's The Grabber Returns From The Dead
Image
Universal has released the first official trailer for Scott Derrickson's Black Phone 2, which will pick up the story four years after the events of the 2021 blockbuster.

The Black Phone was a major box office success that arrived in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, and ultimately grossed $161.4 million globally on an estimated $16-18 million production budget, which made greenlighting a sequel a relatively easy decision. It was also a pretty well received original horror film, boasting a healthy 81% Certified Fresh certification on review aggregator RottenTomatoes.

Body Swaps and Bloodshed Arrive on Arrow This June
Image
Arrow has revealed its June slate, and it’s a characteristically eclectic mix of the brutal, the bizarre and the barely-seen. From grisly Korean thrillers and resurrected Japanese ghost tales to European horrors and cult cinema favourites, the curated streaming platform continues to expand its niche appeal with a line-up tailored to lovers of the extreme and unconventional.

Kicking off the month is Devils, a slick South Korean thriller featuring a body swap between a detective and the serial killer he has spent years chasing. It arrives alongside Body Parts, a five-part anthology soaked in ritualistic horror and dread, both streaming from 6 June. Together, they lead Arrow’s newly launched Killer K-Horror season, a collection that also includes the underseen zombie satire Zombie for Sale.

From 9 June, viewers can return to Takashi Miike’s gonzo Western Sukiyaki Western Django, the 2007 cult mash-up that blends Leone-styled shootouts with operatic samurai drama.

The ‘Until Dawn’ Movie Is Now Available On Digital at Home
Image
One month after the film arrived in theaters, David F. Sandberg’s big screen adaptation of the video game Until Dawn has been released on Digital at home by Sony this morning.

You can rent Until Dawn on Digital now for $19.99 or purchase the film for $24.99.

From director David F. Sandberg (Lights Out, Annabelle Creation, Shazam) and writer Gary Dauberman (It, The Nun), Until Dawn made just under $50 million at the box office.

Meagan Navarro wrote in her review for Bd, “This adaptation captures none of the intensity or scares [of the game]. It winds up the equivalent of touring a loud, busy haunted house attraction. It’s packed to the brim with kills and monsters, very loosely connected by its source material, yet with none of the characters or lore as connective tissue. It’s an adaptation that fails its source material in nearly every way, but it also fails as a straightforward horror film.

Sinners Hits Huge Global Box Office Milestone, Closes In On Being One Of The 10 Biggest Horror Movies Ever
Image
Sinners has passed yet another major box office milestone. The new horror movie, which was directed by Ryan Coogler, stars Michael B. Jordan as twins Smoke and Stack, whose new business venture in their hometown is under threat from a menacing evil force. The Sinners release has set numerous records since the movie debuted on April 18, including earning the best Easter opening weekend for an R-rated movie, having the second-smallest sophomore weekend drop for an R-rated movie (behind Heart Eyes), and becoming Ryan Coogler's highest-grossing non-Marvel Cinematic Universe movie.

Warner Bros. has now announced that Sinners grossed $4.4 million at the domestic box office and $1.2 million in international markets on Friday, May 16. This brings its cumulative global box office total to $303.5 million, passing the enormous $300 million milestone right at the beginning of its fifth weekend in theaters. Final Destination Bloodlines Surpasses Box Office Predictions With Stronger Start Than Sinners
Image
The newest movie in the Final Destinationhorror franchise that began a quarter of a century ago was already expected to be a sleeper hit at the 2025 box office. Now, per Deadline, Final Destination Bloodlines is tracking to do even better in its opening weekend than predictions anticipated.

So far, New Line’s Final Destination Bloodlines has taken in $5.5 million in previews, per Warner Bros. The figure puts it ahead of this year’s hit vampire horror flick, Sinners, from Warner Bros. and filmmaker Ryan Coogler, which took in$4.7 million from previews.

Bloodlines’ 5.5 million is $100,000 higher than previews for 2018’s Conjuring spinoff, The Nun, which made $53 million during its three-day opening weekend. The Nun also came from Warner Bros. Pictures.

The Opening Weekend Could Set a Franchise Record

Per Deadline, Bloodlines is set to earn between $35 and $40 million in its opening weekend. If that happens, it would be the biggest opening...

‘Sinners’ Dances on the Edge of Entering its Biggest Box Office List Yet
Image
Another day at the 2025 box office has passed, and Ryan Coogler's Sinners continues to make its impressive fanged-mark. Across the most recent domestic weekend, the critically acclaimed vampire horror thriller took home another $22.1 million from 3,502 nationwide theaters, making for a per-theater average of $6,311. Added to the movie's already impressive box office haul, Sinners has accumulated an eye-watering $283.4 million globally, split between $215.4 million domestically and $68 million in overseas markets.

Thanks to this total, taken from just four weeks so far, Sinners is teetering on the edge of perhaps its most impressive box office achievement yet, namely entering the 15 highest-grossing horror movies ever at the global box office. For a non-franchise project in a genre bursting at the seams with reboots and sequels, this is quite some feat, and one the film should achieve by the end of the coming weekend with just $12 million separating it and the currently 15th-placed movie,...

The Conjuring Universe Almost Had A Different Name — And It Could Have Changed Everything
Image
Before The Conjuring, James Wan Had Another Title In Mind—Here’s What It Was (Photo Credit – Instagram)

James Wan, the mastermind behind The Conjuring, had a very different name in mind when he envisioned the first Conjuring film. The filmmaker initially named it The Warren Files and even revealed it in one of his interviews. He saw the story as part of a much larger world, one that revolved around the strange and terrifying cases of Ed and Lorraine Warren. However, that broader vision never quite made it into the film’s title, but the spirit of it clings to every entry in what has now become a full-fledged horror franchise.

Building the Conjuring Universe, One Case at a Time

By the time The Conjuring 2 rolled around, it was clear this wasn’t just a series of loosely connected horror stories. It was a world, one bound by the Warrens’ investigations.

'The Conjuring' and 'The Nun's Farmiga Sisters Could Not Have Their Characters Meet on Screen for Legal Reasons
Image
As The Conjuring franchise comes to an end with the upcoming sequel,The Conjuring: Last Rites, horror fans still have many questions about the arc that will serve as the conclusion of the Warrens' demon-busting journey. However, if you thought that Vera and Taissa Farmiga's characters would finally appear together on-screen, we got bad news. Vera's Lorraine Warren and Taissa's Sister Irene are not set to meet on Last Rites, and there's a very good reason for this.

Director Michael Chaves spoke to Entertainment Weekly about the sisters in real life having their character arcs converge in the upcoming movie, and while it was thought to be a possibility at some point, it is just not happening. Apparently, it is due to some legal issues related to the "true" stories that back The Conjuring's plots:

"I was really craving more of a connection, to be totally honest, between The Nun and the Warrens.

Image
The Conjuring Universe has provided horror fans with more than a decade's worth of scares, and while there have been many spin-offs, the heart of the franchise has always remained Ed and Lorraine Warren. Now, after three successful movies, their chapter is coming to an end with The Conjuring: Last Rites, and fans are taking to social media to react to the new trailer, and share what the franchise has meant to them.

Set to hit theaters on September 5, 2025, The Conjuring: Last Rights sees Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson portray the famed paranormal investigators one last time. For their final act, they tackle the haunting of the Smurl family that the real-life Warrens became a part of in 1986. For user @Sweeneystveit on X, they're not ready for the saga to be over:

"With the Conjuring era coming to an end, I will miss the anticipation of a new movie coming to the franchise,...

The world just saw Lewis Pullman crush it as Robert Reynolds, aka Sentry, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s recent installment, Thunderbolts* (The New Avengers). Lewis is no stranger to the spotlight, being the son of acting legend Bill Pullman. However, he has made his own path with his performances in indie gems and blockbuster hits.

He started his career with short films, Westerns, and horrors, and one thing that can be said about his filmography is that the actor has got range. Lewis has brought a sort of quiet charisma and intensity to most of his roles, and if you have liked the way he portrayed Bob/Sentry/Void in Thunderbolts*, here are 10 of his movies that also deserve your attention.

‘Salem’s Lot (2024)

The Warrens Take on Their Last Haunting Case in ‘The Conjuring: Last Rites’ Trailer
Image
The Warrens are back for their last case.

Warner Bros. released the first official trailer for The Conjuring: Last Rites on Thursday, which marks the fourth and final Conjuring movie. However, it’s not necessarily the last in the franchise.

This Conjuring film, like the others, is inspired by the real-life case files of paranormal investigators and couple, Ed (Patrick Wilson) and Lorraine Warren (Vera Farmiga). This time, it follows the 1986 Smurl case, a family who was tormented by a demon for more than a decade.

“Every case is different. Every family is different. Once we start, there is no going back. Anything can happen. And most likely, anything will,” Ed says in the trailer.

Lorraine hints at this one being the most dangerous as she says “something’s different” to Ed. At the end of the trailer, a demon says to Lorraine: “We’ve been waiting so patiently so patiently for you,...

The Conjuring's Final Film Debuts First Teaser Featuring The Warren's Final Haunting
Image
The Conjuring Universe kicked off in 2013 with the first film in the franchise. Created by horror master James Wan, two sequels to the main story were released along with two spin-offs based on Annabelle and The Nun.

The main story, based on real-life paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren, will end with the upcoming The Conjuring: Last Rites. The fourth film in the flagship saga, directed by Michael Chaves, will see Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga reprise their roles as Ed and Lorraine. Ahead of the film's theatrical release in September, Warner Bros. has officially released the first teaser.

The Conjuring: Last Rites marks the ninth entry in the horror franchise. The over-two-minute teaser for the upcoming horror shows Wilson and Farmiga's Ed and Lorraine Warren embarking on a final case. The teaser also features several nods to previous installments, as well as the main characters from the spinoffs. Chavez...

‘The Conjuring: Last Rites’ Trailer: Ed and Lorraine Warren Fight Terrifying Demons One Last Time
Image
The Warrens are back for one last fright.

The official trailer for “The Conjuring: Last Rites” shows paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren (Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga) back in action as they tackle another frightening case. This time, Wilson and Farmiga are joined by Ben Hardy (“Bohemian Rhapsody”) and Mia Tomlinson (“The Beast Must Die”), who are new to the franchise.

While the first two “Conjuring” movies were helmed by James Wan, both “The Devil Made Me Do It” and “Last Rites” feature Michael Chaves in the director’s chair. He has also directed other films in the “Conjuring” universe, including “The Curse of La Llorona” and “The Nun II.” The screenplay for “Last Rites” was written by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, who shares a story credit with Wan.

“The Conjuring” movies are loosely based on real-life cases that the Warrens investigated in their career, with the sequel taking on the Enfield Poltergeist in London.

Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga Take on Evil One Last Time in First ‘The Conjuring: Last Rites’ Trailer
Image
Something dangerously wicked this way comes in the first official trailer for The Conjuring: Last Rites. It’s been four years since we last dove into the demonic with Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga’s Ed and Lorraine Warren, respectively, and soon the pair will return for one final foray into the paranormal. Directed by franchise vet, Michael Chaves, the film promises to give fans a jump-scare-filled finale that will perfectly round out Wilson and Farmiga’s time as the real-life paranormal investigators. With the man who started it all, James Wan(The Conjuring), producing alongside co-DC Studios head, Peter Safran, our final samba with the sinister is bound to be a hit.

Kicking it back to the classics, the final movie in this chapter of The Conjuring franchise will focus on the alleged haunting of Janet and Jack Smurl, a couple from West Pittston, Pennsylvania who claimed they...

The Conjuring: Last Rites Trailer - The Warrens' Last Case Introduces A Terrifying New Evil
Image
The trailer for The Conjuring: Last Rites has arrived. The new movie is the fourth installment in the flagship horror movie franchise, which has also launched the spinoff franchises Annabelle and The Nun. The upcoming Conjuring: Last Rites, which is set to be the final installment following demonologists Ed (Patrick Wilson) and Lorraine Warren (Vera Farmiga), was directed by Michael Chaves, who previously helmed 2021's The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, 2023's The Nun II, and the 2019 movie The Curse of La Llorona, which takes place in the same universe.

Warner Bros.has now unveiled the official trailer for The Conjuring: Last Rites. The trailer opens with Ed Warren giving a tour of their room of cursed artifacts, which includes the painting of the nun demon Valak, as well as the glass case containing the possessed doll Annabelle. After reflecting on their past work, which Ed estimates includes roughly 1,000 cases,...

James Wan provides a hopeful and surprising update on The Crooked Man solo film
Image
The fourth (and supposedly final) film in The Conjuring series started with the 2013 movie is supposedly coming to an end with The Conjuring: Last Rites, due in theaters this September. But while the mainline movies centering around demonologist couple Ed (Patrick Wilson) and Lorraine (Vera Farmiga) Warren might be coming to an end, that doesn't mean the overarching The Conjuring Universe is finished.

In fact, I'd imagine the billion dollar-grossing franchise still has a lot of life left in it, with New Line Cinema head Richard Brenner even calling Last Rites simply the end of "Phase One." James Wan, who directed the first two movies, recently provided an update on at least one potential future film, a spinoff centering on the Crooked Man introduced in The Conjuring 2.

Chatting with Entertainment Weekly as part of the outlet's in-depth Last Rites profile, Wan mentioned his hopes that a movie about The...

Conjuring : Les Dossiers Warren (2013)
The Crooked Man: James Wan would still love to make the Conjuring Universe film
Conjuring : Les Dossiers Warren (2013)
The first The Conjuring film got a spin-off, Annabelle, that was so success it spawned a franchise of its own. So it made sense when it was announced that The Conjuring 2 was going to get two spin-offs. One was The Nun, which did well enough to get a sequel. The other was The Crooked Man. But eight years have passed since The Crooked Man was first announced, and there was no sign that it was ever close to production. Two years ago, producer James Wan confirmed that the project had been scrapped for reasons beyond his control… but in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, Wan admitted that he would still love to make the film.

Years ago, Wan told Entertainment Weekly that “What we want to do, with the Conjuring Universe, is we want each of our little offshoots to have a very different flavor, right? So, for example,...

The Conjuring 4 Almost Pulled An Avengers: Endgame With Its Horror Villains
Image
The Conjuring Universe is one of the most unique horror franchises to ever exist. While most horror properties take the form of numerous sequels, remakes, reboots, and requels, the "Conjuring" series is the first to adopt the model made famous by the Marvel Cinematic Universe: a "main" franchise supported by several smaller ones in its orbit. Thus, we have the three "Conjuring" films, the three "Annabelle" pictures, the two "Nun" movies, and (depending on who you're talking to) the outlier, "The Curse of La Llorona." Ironically, the "Conjuring" property also adopted the growing pains that the MCU experienced in its early days, for while there was a general set path for each — in Marvel's case, it was decades of comic book lore, and for the "Conjuring," it was the real-life exploits of demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren — there wasn't exactly a rigid plan, either.

Thus, while the three main "Conjuring...

James Wan Hasn’t Given Up Hope On a ‘Crooked Man’ Solo Movie
James Wan
It’s been almost 10 years since the release of James Wan’s The Conjuring 2, which introduced the character of The Crooked Man, portrayed by Javier Botet. A solo spinoff movie for the character was first announced back in 2017, but it of course ended up being The Nun who became the film’s spinoff star. So what’s the status of that Crooked Man movie here in 2025?

Chatting with Entertainment Weekly ahead of the release of The Conjuring: Last Rites later this year, franchise creator/producer James Wan revealed that while there are still no current plans for The Crooked Man to get his own movie, Wan himself is still keeping the hope alive.

Wan tells the outlet, “I still have a movie in my head that I would hopefully love to get off the ground one day, but we’ll see. I get fans that reach out to me every now and then,...

James Wan Wants To Bring One Conjuring Spin-Off Back From The Dead
Image
This fall will see the release of "The Conjuring: Last Rites," which will be the final go around for Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson as Ed and Lorraine Warren. But this is still a universe full of demons and supernatural forces that need dealing with, with or without the Warrens. Hence, if franchise overseer James Wan has his way, one particularly nightmarish monster may yet get his day in the sun as the subject of a spin-off movie.

In a preview piece from the folks at Entertainment Weekly, Wan, who directed the original blockbuster smash "The Conjuring" that started the property as we know it, explained that he still has a desire to make the "Crooked Man" movie that was planned several years back but never materialized. The creature in question first appeared in 2016's "The Conjuring 2," and while other supernatural beings such as "Annabelle" and "The Nun" have received multiple films,...

‘The Conjuring: Last Rites’ – First Images from Final Patrick Wilson & Vera Farmiga Movie
Image
While The Conjuring: Last Rites won’t necessarily mark the end of the franchise – rather, it’s said to be the ending of the universe’s “phase one” – this year’s upcoming sequel will (allegedly) mark the final Conjuring movie to star Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga as Ed and Lorraine Warren. And Entertainment Weekly brings us the first images today.

Director Michael Chaves tells EW, “Even as we were developing it, we were throwing a bunch of ideas out: ‘How shamelessly big can we make it?’ ‘How epic can we make it?’ ‘Is this the culmination of all the demons coming to face them?'” But ultimately, he notes, “I felt strongly that the biggest, most emotional story we could tell was the most personal story.”

Patrick Wilson teases in the same interview with Entertainment Weekly, “The third film was kind of a detour. It was more a murder mystery,...

Top 10 Movie Franchises With the Most Loyal Fan Bases
Image
Movies are a one-and-done kind of deal. To be fair, they used to be like that. You watch, you enjoy, you absorb, and you move on, or so we thought. Somewhere down the line, however, we decided to go big on franchises, really big. In better days, this newfound freedom allowed for a larger canvas – an expanded universe – and a fresh take on how one could tell and structure stories.

Quite some time, and then some, has already been spent trying to crack a formula that keeps pulling audiences back, irrespective of how many sequels, spinoffs, and reboots are produced. While the casuals have long languished, others are just terribly fatigued, but fans of certain franchises remain as devoted as ever.

We’re ranking ten franchises with the most loyal fan bases, not just based on box office numbers but also their cultural footprint. No trilogies or Blue Blanc Rogue-type cinema is allowed.

“We Are Still Keeping That Darkness to It”: Live-Action ‘Gargoyles’ Showrunner Teases the Upcoming Reboot
Image
The long-awaited Gargoyleslive-action reboot is slowly but surely emerging from the stone. Showrunner Gary Dauberman gave an exciting update on the new series to ComicBook.com, which should please devotees of the cult-classic animated series. Says Dauberman, "I will say that if you are a fan of the show, you will be very happy with how I’m not trying to reinvent the wheel with that one."

Dauberman does not intend to stray too far from the original series, which originally aired in syndication from 1994 to 1997. Says Dauberman, "I feel like we have the animated series already. The cartoon is so good. It’s so good. That’s what we fell in love with. I think it lends itself to a really cool live-action version." He intends to hew to the tone of the series, which was at times extremely dark for a kid-aimed action cartoon: "We are still keeping that darkness to it.

‘Until Dawn’ Scares Up $8 Million in Domestic Box Office Debut
Image
The word-of-mouth for Until Dawn hasn’t been great, with Sony’s video game adaptation currently “rotten” on Rotten Tomatoes with a 53% Tomatometer score. The film’s audience score is a bit higher at 69%, but most fans and critics seem to agree that the film misses the mark and doesn’t satisfyingly translate the video game into a terrifying big screen experience.

That’s probably why Until Dawn didn’t make much of a splash at the box office over the weekend, scaring up just $8 million in 3,055 theaters here in the United States. The film debuted in the #5 spot on the domestic box office charts, with most horror fans choosing Ryan Coogler’s vampire film Sinners in its second weekend over Until Dawn in its opening weekend.

Sinners, for the sake of comparison, made an additional $45 million at the domestic box office in its second weekend, just a few million...

'Sinners' Is Now One of the 10 Biggest Vampire Movies of All Time
Image
After another landmark weekend at the box office, director Ryan Coogler's Sinners is quickly becoming a cultural event, if it hasn't already. The movie passed the $150 million mark globally this weekend, as it registered one of the softest drops in history. In fact, Coogler's film is out-pacing Jordan Peele's similarly resonant Get Out, which defied horror movie trends and earned an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay some years ago. This weekend's stellar performance helped Sinners become not only one of the biggest horror movies in history, but among the highest-grossing vampire films ever made.

With $122 million domestically and another $39 million from overseas markets, Sinners' cumulative global haul stands at $161 million. This puts it ahead of Stephen Sommers' Van Helsing on the list of the highest-grossing vampire films ever made. At the same time, Sinners also overtook last year's Nosferatu. The movie had previously out-grossed The Lost Boys, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter,...

What The Until Dawn Filmmakers Would Like To See In The Future Of This Franchise
Image
This post contains spoilers for the "Until Dawn" movie.

"Until Dawn," the return to the horror genre for "Lights Out" and "Annabelle: Creation" director David F. Sandberg (whose talents have been wasted in the superhero space for the past few years), doesn't play coy about wanting a sequel.

In the movie's climax, the story's mysterious villain, Dr. Hill (played by Peter Stormare), violently explodes into guts and viscera after drinking a cup of coffee that was poisoned by our protagonist, Clover (Ella Rubin). The day has been saved, trauma has been confronted, closure has been achieved, and our heroes drive off into the metaphorical sunset. But the film ends with someone whistling the same tune Dr. Hill had whistled several times throughout, implying that he somehow survived his explosive death.

/Film's Bill Bria recently spoke with Sandberg about his work on the movie and he asked if the filmmaker thinks a sequel is possible,...

‘Urban Legend’ Reboot in the Works from Gary Dauberman, Neal Moritz (Exclusive)
Image
Screen Gems’ 1990s slasher movie Urban Legend is getting a modern era reboot.

The Sony genre division is in early development on a new version of the 1998 feature, hiring Shanrah Wakefield to pen the script. Gary Dauberman, whose video game adaptation Until Dawn opens Friday, will produce via his Coin Operated banner. Neal Moritz, who was one of the producers of the original, is in negotiations to produce as well.

The original Legend, directed by Jamie Blanks and written by Sylvio Horta, was a horror movie set in a New England university that featured a killer whose kills were inspired by popular urban legends of the period, such as death by Pop Rocks and soft drinks or being pursued in a car by a gang for flashing it a reminder to turn on their headlights.

The movie featured a strong cast of rising names of the late ’90s, including Jared Leto,...

Bonnie Aarons Reprised Nightmarish ‘Mulholland Drive’ Role on John Mulaney’s Netflix Show!
Annabelle Creation Premier
Horror fans have become well acquainted with Bonnie Aarons in recent years thanks to her role as Valak the demonic nun in Conjuring Universe spinoffs The Nun and The Nun II, but what you might not realize is that Aarons was invading your nightmares long before that.

Remember the nightmarish “Bum” from David Lynch’s Mulholland Drive? Many consider the character’s brief jump-scare appearance to be one cinema’s most genuinely terrifying moments; back in 2015, Indiewire named the shocking appearance of the filthy vagrant one of the 40 Scariest Movie Moments of all Time, coming in at a respectable #10.

Yes, it was Bonnie Aarons who played the Bum before becoming the Nun!

Elsewhere in the film world, Aarons made her feature debut in 1994’s Exit to Eden as “The Prostitute,” subsequently appearing in films such as Dear God, Shallow Hal, Wristcutters: A Love Story, I Know Who Killed Me, Hell Ride,...

Vera Farmiga Joins Walden Media’s ‘Billion Dollar Spy’ Opposite Russell Crowe & Harry Lawtey
Image
Exclusive: Oscar-nominated actress Vera Farmiga is boarding Walden Media’s Cold War thriller Billion Dollar Spy opposite Russell Crowe and Harry Lawtey. Cameras are about to roll.

Adapted from the acclaimed book by Pulitzer Prize-winning author David E. Hoffman, Billion Dollar Spy follows Adolf Tolkachev (Crowe), who in real life risked everything to pass thousands of pages of top-secret Soviet intelligence to the U.S. Despite repeated rejections by a wary CIA, Tolkachev persisted, embodying the courage to stand against a regime that betrayed its own people.

Finally finding an ally in CIA agent Tom Lenihan (Lawtey), Tolkachev was able to shift the balance of power, proving that true patriotism lies not in blind allegiance, but in the willingness to challenge a government when it strays from its ideals.

Farmiga will play Natasha, Tolkachev’s wife.

BAFTA winner Amma Asante is directing. Oscar-winning writer Stephen Gaghan wrote the most recent draft,...
