a lot of fun to be had!

Although horror is definitely a hit and miss genre in Argentinian Cinema, La Muerte Cuenta su Historia has enough memorable quality to warrant it as a memorable experience! With an atmosphere that resembles that of Beetlejuice, fans of Tim Burton will appreciate the quality in the life and charm that the film possesses. Whether its Zombies coming together in order to stop a covenant of witches or a ghostly presence haunting the screen, the movie blends many sub genres of horror with a fine blend of comedic element that elevates the movie past a serious tone and up into a crazy, charming light hearted ride! With competent acting and a script to compliment it, the high end production will allow the viewer to become absorbed into the world that is being built, without noticeable distractions that unfortunately are a common occurrence in Argentine cinema (due to the lack of budget in many cases) Definitely recommended for fans of the Horror Comedy sub genre!

Sexism, Celtic Goddesses, and a Bunch of Laughs

Angel is a successful advertising director; he is also a sexist pig who doesn't even pretend to resist cheating on his wife with every young woman he sees. But there are a group of women, witches perhaps, who have powers to change that - after they kill him. Now Angel is dead, but still forced to live out his life as if he's not (only his young daughter sees that there's something very wrong with Daddy), except when the witches put him in a trance and summon him, zombie-like, to do their bidding, all in an effort to bring back some ancient Celtic Goddesses who will right the wrongs done to women over the centuries…. This was at times quite funny, as the super-macho Angel is so over-the-top that one can't help but laugh, although the film was marred by the fact that the subtitles were out of sync, so that one couldn't always be sure who was saying what. There's a bunch of gore in it too, which might put some people off, but overall it sends up the world of misogyny in a mostly light- hearted way. I did notice that when audience members laughed, it was almost always *female* audience members, though!
