Ren Redzepi's culinary philosophy of foraging, fermentation, and experimentation influences chefs like Carmy in The Bear's Season 3. Omnivore deep dives into the history and impact of essential ingredients like chili, tuna, salt, banana, and more with stunning cinematography. Real-world issues faced by fine dining restaurants like The Bear are explored in Omnivore, shedding light on the challenges of quality ingredients.
Ren Redzepi has long been known in the fine dining world as one whose obsession with food and ingredients has dominated his successes, and now the chef is sharing that obsession in Omnivore. Much of Redzepi's reputation is built on Danish three Michelin-starred restaurant, Noma, which popularized the New Nordic Cuisine culinary movement. His culinary philosophy primarily focuses on foraging, fermentation, and a lot of experimentation.

The reason we love The Apprentice is because we secretly (or not so secretly) think they’re mostly idiots and we could do better. We’d probably all win Who Wants To Be A Millionaire and Jeopardy in our heads. Certainly the Made In Chelsea gang would embrace us, and we could do with a flirty Gordon Ramsey to come and sort out our business, or someone to do up the house or the garden or the car, and storage hunters looks fun… But not that many of us could actually be arsed to apply.
So imagine a fantasy world where you can appear in a non-fiction show without any of the faff, totally by your rules in any capacity you like. Want to be on The Traitors? You can be Claudia Winkleman if you like! Want to travel the world with Travel Man – pick your destination and your traveling companion as you wish.

Tony Bourdain died six years ago, ending the near-decade I spent as his assistant. I have yet to disable my “Anthony Bourdain” Google Alert, which is how I became aware of Omnivore, the Apple TV+ deep-dive food series executive produced by René Redzepi, chef of the world-renowned Noma restaurant in Copenhagen, and writer Matt Goulding, who published three books under Bourdain’s imprint. Tony was also an investor-partner in Roads & Kingdoms, the travel website Goulding started with journalist Nathan Thornburgh.
Being associated with an icon like Bourdain opens lots of doors.

CNN, which briefly enjoyed its own bespoke streaming home, is moving into a bigger broadband neighborhood.
Warner Bros. Discovery, which shut down the nascent CNN+ streaming hub in April just weeks after it debuted, will launch a CNN Originals section on the subscription-video hub Discovery+, creating a new venue for CNN series and documentary films, as well as original programs from sister cable network Hln, which focuses largely on true-crime content. The CNN programming will be made available starting August 19.
“True crime, food and travel programming are among the most-watched genres for Discovery+ viewers, so these titles from CNN will fit right in with our best-in-class collection of unscripted content,” said Jb Perrette, president and CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery’s streaming operations, in a statement. “We’re excited to offer our subscribers access to a comprehensive offering of CNN Original Series available to stream with their existing subscription.”

You would think that the worlds of horror and professional wrestling would meet and make magical beautiful music together, wouldn’t you? Both are brash, bright, crazy and incredibly fun when they’re good. Sadly… both are bloody awful if done poorly. I’ve seen a few movies that have attempted to blend horror and wrestling and I’m yet to see one that has done it particularly well. So… is Parts Unknown, directed and written by Richard Chandler (Witch Hunt), a wrestling horror flick that manages to blend the two mediums into an entertaining film?
It’s a simple premise, as you’d expect, with a violent family of wrestlers (not sports entertainers) who look for another way to satisfy their lust for blood.

For this week’s horror and sci-fi home media releases, we have some Stephen King on tap, as well as a ton of indie horror and a classic genre romance as well. If you missed it previously, you can now catch up with the second season of Castle Rock, which is coming out on both Blu-ray & DVD, and if you’re a big softie like this writer, you’ll definitely want to pick up the new Blu for Ghost, which Paramount is releasing in honor of the film’s 30th anniversary.
If you have aspiring young horror fans in your midst, Scoob! hits a variety of formats this week, and for those of you in the mood for a classic suspense film, Torment should more than hold you over for a while.

CNN in March gave a handful of advertisers and ad-agency personnel a sneak peek of its ambitious six-part documentary series on late night, just days before New York City was shut down by the coronavirus pandemic. The project hasn’t been seen in public since. Weeks may lapse before it surfaces again.
Johnny Carson, David Letterman and Stephen Colbert no doubt make for compelling television, but so too at this moment does news about the nation’s health, a swirl of protests and President Trump’s shambolic tenure in the White House. Since March, CNN has had too much of all that to feature some other parts of its content pipeline.

"Now it's time to make one last sacrifice." Wild Eye Releasing has debuted an official Us trailer for an indie horror titled Parts Unknown, the latest from rural genre filmmaker Richard Chandler. After putting their bodies on the line for countless years, a family of professional wrestlers seek a brand new way to satisfy an impeccable bloodlust - by going on a spree of murder and carnage to satisfy their deal made with a demonic entity from another dimension. William DeCoff, Alexandra Cipolla, and Sarah Michelle star in this extremely low budget, extremely awful-looking, excessively violent horror film. I have to say it - this looks absolutely terrible in every possible way, not only pointless and unnecessary, but just brutal and wrong and shamefully un-amusing. But I guess they didn't make this for me. At least the trailer is totally free to watch. Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Richard Chandler's Parts Unknown,...

The Television Academy has unveiled a slew of rules changes for the 2020 Emmy Awards including adjustments for ‘hanging episodes’, alterations to kids voting and extra assessments for self-published series.
The Board of Governors has approved more than a dozen changes to the rules.
Hanging episodes, those episodes currently outside the current year’s eligibility, will now be eligible if they are broadcast or posted on a member-accessible platform, including the network’s streaming platform or the Television Academy’s own platform in their final form by May 31, 2020. In recent years, series including Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale, won even though the majority of episodes aired in 2018.
However, this does not apply to the limited series category, where all episodes of the show must be broadcast, streamed or aired on the Television Academy’s own platform by May 31, 2020 to qualify. If the limited series has episodes that air after this date,...

“Bohemian Rhapsody” and “The Favourite” have been named the best-edited feature films of 2018 at the American Cinema Editors’ Ace Eddie Awards, which took place on Friday night at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
“Bohemian Rhapsody” won in the Best Edited Feature Film (Dramatic) category, while “The Favourite” topped the Best Edited Feature Film (Comedy) category.
Since the Ace Eddie for feature film was split into separate drama and comedy or musical categories 19 years ago, the winner in the drama category has gone on to win the Academy Award for film editing 13 times, and the Best Picture Oscar seven times. The winner in the comedy or musical category has only won the Oscar in those categories once, when “Chicago” did it in 2003.

Two films about Brits of very different eras took the marquee trophies at the Ace Eddie Awards tonight as Bohemian Rhapsody and The Favourite took home the respective marquee prizes for Best Edited Feature Dramatic and Comedy.

In accepting his stauette for The Favourite, editor Yorgos Mavropsaridis told the crowd of 1,000-plus he was impressed to get the award because he is from such a “small country like Greece.”

There’s something resonant about the final season of Anthony Bourdain’s Parts Unknown — it’s more sustaining than depressing. It’s been a real emotional journey watching these last episodes, week after week. It’s understandable that Bourdain fans might have worried the new season of the CNN travel show would be too painful to take, since we know how the story ended. Bourdain was in the middle of filming it when he shocked everyone with his death by suicide, still only 61. The new episodes were finished after his death,...

There’s so much joy contained in the Season 12 premiere of “Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown” that it can be jarring, given the tragic circumstances of its unveiling. With host Anthony Bourdain’s suicide ensuring that these remaining installments will be the show’s last, this premiere comes with a heartbreaking edge that goes well beyond final-season blues.
However, the season premiere pays tribute to its lost host in the best way possible — by continuing to present the sort of storytelling Bourdain clearly valued so dearly, dedicated to revealing the incredible richness of the world we live in, and how much delight there can be found in exposing others to it. It’s that last element that is the key to the dynamic of “Kenya,” the show’s premiere episode, in which Bourdain takes fellow CNN employee W. Kamau Bell, the host of Emmy-winning series “United Shades of America,” to the titular nation.
However, the season premiere pays tribute to its lost host in the best way possible — by continuing to present the sort of storytelling Bourdain clearly valued so dearly, dedicated to revealing the incredible richness of the world we live in, and how much delight there can be found in exposing others to it. CNN dropped the trailer for the final season of Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown and it's incredibly bittersweet. The 12th season will feature six episodes of Bourdain's travels before his suicide earlier this year. The trailer gives a look at the last episode produced with Bourdain's narration and complete involvement. In it, Bourdain travels through Kenya with comedian and fellow CNN personality W. Kamau Bell, and the two explore the wonders of the country.
"He wasn't making TV for TV's sake, he wasn't doing a job - this was his life's work," Bell said during the trailer, reflecting on the time he spent with Bourdain. "That he brings my name into that, I feel a tremendous responsibility to learn the lessons that I learned when I was with him, to deepen the work that I'm doing, and to prove him right to want me to be on an episode of Parts Unknown.

The last voiceover Anthony Bourdain did for “Parts Unknown” was a fitting one.
As a packed, emotional house discovered at the Tribeca screening of the show’s upcoming Kenya episode — the twelfth and final season premiere featuring “United Shades of America” host W. Kamau Bell — Bourdain wanted to emphasize a point that has sometimes gotten lost in his work. “I do my best,” he said of his exploratory travel around the world. “I look, I listen. But in the end, I know it’s my story. Not Kamau’s, not Kenya’s. Those stories have yet to be heard.”
The coda, which airs after the credits on the episode, is one that not even his producers quite understood when Bourdain wrote it. “We didn’t have any idea what the f— he was talking about,” said director Morgan Fallon, with a small laugh. But after Bourdain died, they revisited the...

The September 22 world premiere of “Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown” at this year’s Tribeca TV fest wasn’t a memorial. While the series won the Emmy for Outstanding Informational Series or Special just a few weeks ago, it did so under the burden of Bourdain’s recent suicide. However, the Season 12 opener, “Kenya,” was a joyful episode that focused on Bourdain and “United Shades of America” host W. Kamau Bell.
In the episode, the pair explored the country’s capital of Nairobi as well as the savannah and more rural communities, with memorable sequences in which Bell’s dining options included cow’s blood beverage and a goat’s eyeball.
At the Q&A following the premiere, director Morgan Fallon told Bell that his rookie status was an advantage: “What’s nice from, a scumbag producer point of view, is that we knew that you were going to eat anything...

Pro-Trump CNN political commentator Jason Miller announced Saturday that he has “decided to step away” from the network after a recent accusation in a legal filing that he slipped abortion pills to a former lover without her knowledge.
“I have decided to step away from my role as a Political Commentator at CNN to focus on clearing my name and fighting the false and defamatory accusations made against me,” he said in a statement on his Twitter account.
“To be clear, none of this is is in any way true,” he said of the accusations which surfaced this week after a Sept. 14 legal filing in a custody dispute with his ex-lover A.J. Delgado over their child. “That doesn’t matter however in the current court of public opinion, where fraudulent statements and a lack of factual support rule the day as long as it fits into a tweet.”

The Emmy Awards and a couple of early broadcast premieres signal the fall season is about the start in earnest. A couple of cable premieres and a new series from outside the big three streaming services are also of note.
Below is The Hollywood Reporter's rundown of some of the coming week's highlights. It would be next to impossible to watch everything, but THR can point the way to some worthy options....

Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay is gearing up to go into uncharted territory with his upcoming Nat Geo travel series — or parts that are unknown, as some critics have been quick to point out.
Ramsay’s new show, “Uncharted” — which was announced earlier this month — sounds strikingly similar to the late Anthony Bourdain’s CNN docuseries “Parts Unknown.” And Ramsay has felt the swift backlash from fans who cried “too soon!” at what they believe to be a ripoff of Bourdain’s — who died in June — Emmy-nominated program.
But that doesn’t mean he agrees with it or thinks “Uncharted” is a copycat production of his “great mate”s program.

The untimely death of Anthony Bourdain earlier this year left a hole in the hearts of millions across the world who’d had their horizons broadened by the chef, TV host, and world citizen. A few months after his suicide, Bourdain’s former network CNN — which aired “Parts Unknown,” a kind of spiritual successor to his earlier “No Reservations” — has announced that it’s working on what’s being billed as “the definitive Bourdain feature documentary.”
“As well as we knew Tony,” CNN’s Amy Entelis tells Vanity Fair, “because he did reveal himself in the series, there was still a hunger to know more about him, and to honor his work and celebrate him. The documentary format became one of the more obvious ways to go.”
“We just want to make it perfect,” she added. “We want to make it exquisite for Tony. We want to do him justice.
