    Childhood Sea Adventure

The game "Disney's The Little Mermaid" for consoles in 1991 is a warm memory from childhood, when I had a chance to plunge with interest, literally and figuratively, into adventures with the famous mermaid Ariel. The plot of the game follows the events of the original cartoon, but with the addition of new details: Ariel goes to fight the treacherous Ursula to save the inhabitants of the underwater world. The game allows you to immerse yourself in a familiar fairy tale, where good, albeit with difficulty, always wins over evil.

The combat system in the game is simple, but extremely exciting. By controlling Ariel, the player can stun enemies with his tail, which looks original and corresponds to her image. After that, stunned enemies can be used as weapons to hit other opponents. This mechanic is not only unusual, but also moderately fun, even something like tactics is added to the gameplay. There are also various useful items scattered on the levels that help you cope with the passage. Every encounter with an enemy or boss requires not only reaction, but also proper calculation.

The graphics of the game, given the year of release, are impressive in their brightness and detail. Each level presents a unique underwater landscape - from coral reefs to deep caves. The visual style perfectly conveys the atmosphere of the cartoon, and Ariel's movements look smooth and elegant. As, in fact, a sea princess should be. Even years later, it is impossible not to note how the developers approached the creation of enemies and environments in detail.

As a child, "Disney's The Little Mermaid" was a real adventure. I remember the game well and vividly. The desire to defeat Ursula and bring peace back to the underwater kingdom made me return to the game over and over again. This masterpiece passed three times, probably. The game was catchy with its atmosphere and thoughtful levels.

    9 out of 10.

    The best on the platform?

I was thinking about how PlayStation is the first console to be actually good today, so by the evening i came to a thought to see if Famicom / Nes even had any games worth playing. So i googled "easy nes games" and this is one of the recommended titles.

Well, i wouldn't say this is an easy game, but this is definitely a not-scammy game. It's as short as most of the releases for the platform, the controls are not very responsive and there are many aggressive enemies. You always run at 3/5 health with no way to fill it (because all of the health pickups are in the secrets). There are attack and range upgrades but those are hidden behind puzzles with a possibility to chose an empty chest.

But this game has infinite continues instead of demanding more coins. And while you have lives there is a checkpoint before the bosses. Which are easy to be fair.

Sportsmen who want to 146% the game and get the perfect score can do just that, and everyone else can beat this game in a day. I wish i had it in my childhood. It's not "good" good with such controls, but so far it's probably the best game on the platform. And there are power-point cutscenes too.

In the original book "The Little Mermaid" by Hans Christian Anderson. Ariel doesn't get to marry Eric, in fact Eric married another woman, Ariel was given a dagger to kill Eric with to turn back into a mermaid. Unable to kill Eric, she instead commits suicide and jumps off the ship and drowns in the water turning into sea foam. She never even got to defeat the sea witch.

Narrator: Ariel, princess of the sea, fell in love with Eric at first sight. She asked Ursula to make her human so she could meet him. He fell in love with her too and planned to marry her.

Narrator: Then one day, Sebastian, Flounder and Scuttle came to see Ariel in a big hurry. They explained that Ursula had cast a spell over the fish of the sea so they would have to do what she wanted. If she wasn't stopped, she would probably take over the whole sea.

Narrator: Ariel decided to go to Ursula's castle to try and release the fish from Ursula's spell. She explained to Eric that she was a mermaid and a princess of the sea and that she must try to save her friends. Eric tried to convince her not to go but she turned back into a mermaid, dove into the sea and began to swim towards Ursula's castle.
