    Interesting for odd reasons

First, congratulations to every company that manages to get a low budget script filmed. This one I think is worth having been made, if only for some of the outstanding acting and intriguing writing. Oblique, might be a better adjective to use, since I'm pretty sure the writer, director, and actors know why everything happens. I'm not sure I do, and that's not a bad thing. I have questions, which would raise discussion had I been with others while watching the film. That's a good thing. It seemed to me Det. Kelley was part of the situation. Yet, he could just step away, but Det. Rawlings can't? Surely there's a much larger motivation in play for Dr. Brinkman, other than a follow up published study. Those aren't all. I loved the set-up then thwart twists. Pull that rug out from under our heroes' feet. As for being on solid ground, give the DP, or director if that's the case, a high-five for some of the really interesting camera angles, and the actors for finding their spots when those angles were tight. I especially liked one characters face (I knew who it was immediately) being framed in the wood trim of the front door. Great synergy between visual and character. Sets and design are minimal, and work. There are a couple of stellar character portrayals, others good, one that jumps out for the wrong reasons. It isn't awful. It just pops out because everyone else is on a more believable level. I'd recommend this film, if only for the ambiguity of it. It has holes, isn't neatly tied up with a bow. At least, not for me. Some, I'm sure, believe they "get it". But with an inventive script and room to question, "What about...?" A great catalyst to start a conversation. Starting at the beginning, why is a bag of cash dropped and found by a woman being watched the inciting event? It was intriguing enough for me to keep with it. I'm glad I did. I really appreciated the performances and slyly crafted script.

    Will Keep You Guessing.

This is an interesting little movie.

It stars the great Judy Norton as "Tara", a talented, somewhat OCD painter. Her brushes must be exactly right, her hat must be exactly in the right spot, etc.

Tara finds a sack of cash and calls the police to turn it in. Then things start to get weird: her brushes get moved, her hat gets moved. Her things getting moved and then things that go bump in the night, not something someone with OCD needs to experience. Making the experience more difficult for her is that her mother had mental illness, and she thinks that she may be "cracking up" like her mother did.

Tara's ally is one of the police officers, with whom she has an affair.

I can't say too much more without giving spoilers.

Judy Norton gives one of the finest & engaging performances of her career. This one will keep you guessing right until the end. Pay attention throught the film, and you WILL "get it".

    Judy JudyJudy

I admire Judy for growing up not getting hooked on drugs or other bad things that plague child actors. I loved the Waltons up until the 5th season. But this movie is so bad I am wondering if it was a student film. It is suffering from low budget, bad acting, pacing, poor script...on and on. It's hard to believe this was green lighted. Skip this.

    Who was being manipulated?

The viewer! The viewer of this poorly ended flick was being manipulated. I didn't mind the story until the credits rolled.. What the hell happened? Run out of film or battery and decided to leave it as is with no conclusion. It would have garnered more stars depending on the ending - if there was an ending.

I came to look at the reviwes and hoped to find a spoiler on what the ending was and I found nada. I understand letting the end be interpreted by viewer,, but this is not that kind of movie.

So is this a spoiler? How could I spoil the ending if there was NONE. I had it selected as a spoiler but I can't spoil what didn't exist so I deselected it.

This film is not worth the time. If you think that my review is someone who doesn't like "thinking" movies or needs to be spoonfed - well, have at it and if you do, please write a review with a spoiler explaining the ending.. I can handle non-linea flicks, artsy flicks, etc ... this ended was a WTF.. Pretty much a TV movie with a few "F" words tossed in and no ending.
