The Being Maria trailer reveals a new biopic dramatizing the filming of Marlon Brando's most controversial movie. Written and directed by Jessica Palud, the upcoming French film follows actress Maria Schneider's experiences filming the 1972 erotic drama Last Tango in Paris, her subsequent rise to fame, and the impact the controversial production had on her life and career. Being Maria stars Anamaria Vartolomei in the titular role and Matt Dillion as Brando alongside Céleste Brunnquell, Giuseppe Maggio, Yvan Attal, Marie Gillain, and Jonathan Couzinié.
Now, Kino Lorber has released the first official trailer for Being Maria, finding Schneider as a promising young actress who receives a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to star in a film from an acclaimed Italian director, Bernardo Bertolucci (Giuseppe Maggio), and starring a beloved American actor, Brando. They get along great initially, but everything changes when the two men secretly plan an unscripted sexual assault scene without her consent.

Missing You is the newest Harlan Coben Netflix show available to stream. The series, which is based on Coben's 2014 novel of the same name, premiered on Jan. 1, 2025, and it's one of the most popular shows of the year so far. I know that's not saying much about a week into the year, but it's still good news for Coben, Netflix, and the fans who love all of the Harlan Coben Netflix shows!
Missing You has only five episodes, so we know that fans need more good shows like Missing You to watch after finishing the limited series. Instead of recommending all nine Harlan Coben Netflix shows to watch after Missing You, which you should do if you like the show, we shared a list of six non-Harlan Coben Netflix shows to watch if you're a fan of Missing You. In The Last of Us season 1, episode 6, "Kin", Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) finally find peace and sanctuary in the American West, but with that quietude comes time for Joel to consider if he's growing too close to his ward. The sixth episode of The Last of Us takes place three months after the tragic events in Kansas City, which includes two of the most impactful deaths in the series. The show looks different now, as Joel and Ellie emerge from the fire and chaos of the Eastern US, into the snowy tranquility of the West.
"Kin" is where The Last of Us makes a switch. This is the first episode where Joel and Ellie have a chance to gather themselves, after a journey that's taken them from tragic horror to tragic horror, barely escaping with their lives. Now, as they reach their goal, it's not external conflicts that get in their way,...

Quick Links Marlon Brando's Early Career and Last Gig The Marlon Brando Film Would Never Be Released
Critics and film historians alike widely consider Marlon Brando to be one of the greatest American actors of the 20th century. His filmography proves that with A Streetcar Named Desire, On the Waterfront, Julius Caesar, Apocalypse Now, and The Godfather, among numerous others. But if you said cheap, animated Spider-Man ripoff featuring Brando voicing an old lady that was never even released, you'd be absolutely right.
Yes, Marlon Brando's last movie role on this Earth was in the animated Big Bug Man. Set for a release in the mid-2000s, the movie was shelved and has never seen the light of day.

Plot: Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy) and his symbiote pal Venom are on the run following the events of the last film being pursued by adversaries that are both human and not.
Review: Let’s face it – the Venom series has never exactly been a critical darling. Done on a relatively modest scale for Sony’s Spider-Verse and shackled by a PG-13 rating, this Tom Hardy-led franchise has, surprisingly enough, printed money for its home studio. While they’ve never risen above modest, turn-your-brain-off B-movie fare, they’ve been much better than other live-action Spider-verse offerings like Madame Web and Morbius. With this billed as The Last Dance for the character at Sony, does this short-lived franchise end on a high?
Here’s the thing – if you dug the other Venom movies, you’ll probably get a kick out of this one. It’s unapologetically a low-stakes superhero movie, reminiscent...

Prime Video might not always have an abundance of new shows dropping onto the platform each month, but the series it does choose to bring on board are most definitely worth watching. Unlike Netflix, the streaming service doesnt release the episodes of its shows in one fell swoop. Instead, they typically receive a weekly drop following their premiere, which means audiences wont be able to binge any of the latest series over the coming weeks. However, that shouldnt deter potential viewers.
While there may not be a plethora of shows slated to arrive on the streaming platform next month, the series that will be available are sure to entertain just about any viewer. From a superhero satire to a retelling of British history, Prime Video promises to deliver quality content during the month of June. Everyone remembers their first time. That is the first time they saw Marlon Brando.
For the late Mike Nichols, seeing Brando on Broadway in 1947 in his seminal turn as Stanley Kowalski in Tennessee Williams‘ “A Streetcar Named Desire,” was the catalyst that lead to his career in the arts which saw him become a rare Egot winner. The teenage Nichols and his then girlfriend’s mother were given tickets for the second night of the Elia Kazan-directed production. “There had never been anything like it, I know that by now,” Nichols recalled in a 2010 L.A. Times interview. It was, to this day, the only thing onstage that I had ever seen that was 100% real and 100% poetic. Lucy and I weren’t exactly theater buffs, but we couldn’t get up at the intermission. We were just so stunned. Your heart was pounding. It was a major experience.”

Acting streaks are rare; even the best actors have disappointments in their careers. A fantastic streak can completely change an actor's career, like Matthew McConaughey's stellar 2013-2014 run. A strong streak can make an actor legendary, like Marlon Brando's amazing string of critically acclaimed movies.
Even the greatest actors sometimes star in a few bad movies, so it's rare for an actor to put together a long winning streak. Making two brilliant movies back-to-back is hard enough, and stringing together multiple hits requires a bit of luck. Sometimes it's as much about selecting the right projects as it is about delivering great performances. For example, Brad Pitt had the beginnings of a great streak after Fight Club and Snatch but his next movie, The Mexican, was a complete disappointment. This doesn't diminish his talents as an actor. It just shows how rare great acting streaks are.

William Baldwin and Sharon Stone’s heated feud goes back to the 1990s before her startling claim of being pressured to sleep with the former to improve their on-screen chemistry in the 1993 erotic thriller movie, Sliver came to the surface. However, the former hasn’t kept quiet on this matter as he clapped back at those claims, adding that he too has a fair amount of dirt on her.

Amidst the acclaim that The Godfather received from all fronts, there was one influential critic of the movie — Frank Sinatra. The beef between Sinatra and the film began even before the start of filming. The singer and actor believed that one character in Mario Puzo’s novel, that of Johnny Fontaine, was modeled after him. On one occasion, Sinatra had a heated confrontation about this with Puzo where he threatened the author.
Marlon Brando as Vito Corleone in The Godfather
However, his threats on another occasion did not seem to bother singer Al Martino, who played the brief role of Johnny Fontaine in the film. In the end, all the efforts of Frank Sinatra to ruin The Godfather became futile as the movie became the biggest hit in Hollywood upon release.

Jordan Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions is producing the psychological horror Goat, with Marlon Wayans in the lead.
This isn’t an unveiling of Jordan Peele’s next directorial outing for Universal, but here’s a story about an intriguing new project that will be produced under the filmmaker’s Monkeypaw banner.
Goat is set to star Marlon Wayans (who you can see pictured in the TV show Marlon) while Justin Tipping will direct. Tipping co-wrote and directed Kicks, another film (like last year’s Air) focused on the mythical status attached to basketball shoes.
In their upcoming project, the focus will be on a mythical athlete rather than their shoes, as ‘the film centres on an up-and-coming young athlete who is invited to train with a team’s retiring star, who will be played by Wayans.’
It hasn’t been announced yet who will play the rookie, but according to Deadline,...

If your education was only gleaned from the American public school system, Martin Luther King Jr., Malcolm X, and Rosa Parks may be the only Black historical figures you know. The limited overview of the Civil Rights movement and slavery is at stake when schools, government, and other authoritative bodies whitewash dark annals of the country’s foundation in today’s direction of banning the passage of the past to future generations. Yet Academy Award winner Roger Ross Williams inhibits America’s violent chapters, taboo portions, and past Presidents from being forgotten in his newest film, Stamped From the Beginning.
His adaptation of scholar Ibram X. Kendi’s book of the same name observes how America imbued concept of race from the 1500s to the present. He deploys a vast archive of past media (including snippets of Omar Little and Officer Alonso Harris reinforcing the criminalization of Black people) that degraded Black people,...

It’s last call for a number of films and TV shows leaving Netflix in June. Director Frank Darabont’s underrated Stephen King adaptation “The Mist” exits on June 21, while the end of the month brings the exits of “Jerry Maguire,” “Puss in Boots,” “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days,” a pair of “Resident Evil” movies and Brad Pitt’s pretty-ok zombie actioner “World War Z.”
Also departing on June 30 is the first two seasons of “Chappelle’s Show.”
All-in-all, however, it’s not a robust list so rest easy knowing an exodus isn’t coming to Netflix. This month at least.

Updated with new title of documentary Catching Fire: The Story of Anita Pallenberg: Were it not for a chance encounter with the Rolling Stones in 1965, we might remember Anita Pallenberg as an exceptional actress and stunning model. Instead, her life was to be defined largely in relation to her ties with the “greatest rock n’ roll band in the world.”
In the documentary Catching Fire: The Story of Anita Pallenberg, which premiered earlier this week at the Cannes Film Festival (under the abbreviated title Anita), the radiant and compelling Pallenberg finally gets her due as a creative force in her own right, a woman of alluring beauty, intelligence, dysfunction, addiction, and yes, an important figure in the world of the Stones at their apex.

If Everything Everywhere All at Once‘s Michelle Yeoh wins the best actress Oscar on March 12, she will become the first Asian to do so. But she’s not the first to be nominated: Merle Oberon preceded Yeoh 87 years ago — though no one knew it at the time.
The star of 1935’s The Dark Angel, for which she was nominated, kept her Indian heritage hidden her entire life. Born in Bombay to a Sri Lankan-Maori mother and white father, Oberon grew up in poverty in Calcutta. When she was 17, she moved to England to pursue acting; fearing backlash from a racist entertainment industry, she claimed she was born in Tasmania and that her birth certificate was lost in a fire.
She broke out playing Anne Boleyn in director Alexander Korda’s The Private Life of Henry VIII in 1933, which led to her being cast in Sidney Franklin’s World War I drama The Dark Angel,...

“Morning Joe” host Joe Scarborough is concerned that Kevin McCarthy’s release of Jan. 6 security footage to Tucker Carlson will lead to another riot, as the panel discussed Tuesday the Fox News host’s rewriting and downplaying of the insurrection on the Capitol.
“There you go again promoting violence and praising those committing violence against cops,” Scarborough said. “This is once again the abandonment of the blue. Once again the abandonment of police officers.”
He continued: “You can’t say ‘the Republican Party.’ This is a segment of the Republican Party, in the House especially, that are trying to grant absolution by lying about those people, those rioters that beat the hell out of police officers.”
Also Read:

Comedian Wanda Sykes remembers Will Smith’s Oscars slap of Chris Rock well, and she thinks even Troy Kotsur, the deaf actor who won Best Supporting Actor for “Coda” last year, heard it.
But did she really need to go there with it?
The actress, who hosted last year’s ceremony, appeared on the 100th episode of the Sherri Shepherd Show Friday to discuss her comedy career, retirement and more. Shepherd asked her about Rock’s live comedy special coming out Saturday on Netflix.
“We love Chris Rock. You have a close relationship with Chris, but are you happy that this special is coming out?” Shepherd asked Sykes. “The Oscars are coming next weekend, so do you think that it’s really important that his special is coming out right before the Oscars? Because you hosted last year.”

NBC has given a pilot order to St. Denis Medical, a half-hour mockumentary-style workplace comedy from the Superstore and American Auto duo of Justin Spitzer and Eric Ledgin. The pilot is produced by Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, where both Spitzer and Ledgin have overall deals.

Emma (Emily Hampshire) and Josh’s (Jonas Chernick) first kiss was at a summer camp as teenagers and, minus a few break-ups here and there, they’ve been together ever since. They’re best friends, awesome parents, and, because of their two daughters being their focus for every waking second of every single day, mutually apathetic to the concept of sex. So, now that it’s the girls’ time to start going to that same camp, Emma and Josh have no clue what to do with their independence. And maybe they should read into the fact that suggesting sex (with the door open and as loud as they want) came after “go to a matinee.” They should read even harder upon discovering they’ve all but forgotten how to do it.

Marlon Brando was a powerhouse film actor — of that there is no denying. He was also quite admirable for his social activism and standing by his political beliefs, famously sending Indigenous activist and actor Sacheen Littlefeather to refuse his Best Actor Oscar win for "The Godfather" in 1973, citing the poor representation of Native Americans in film and TV.
On the flip side, Brando was known for being at best disruptive, at worst flat-out unprofessional in his conduct on-set later in his career. But you already knew that, correct? Brando's antics are the stuff of legend in their own right. So instead of laying into him yet again, let's talk about the time an actor made Brando's life a slog while shooting a movie

Marlon Wayans’ new comedy inspired by his life and career is on the move. Starz has taken in for development Book of Marlon, with Wayans set to star, co-write and executive produce. The project, which was previously in development at HBO Max, hails from Sherman’s Showcase and South Side creators Diallo Riddle and Bashir Salahuddin, Wayans’ longtime producing partner Rick Alvarez (Marlon), Michael Rotenberg and Warner Bros. Book of Marlon was originally set up at HBO Max in 2020. There was chatter that the project at some point had been unofficially greenlighted to pilot but it never went to production. I hear the comedy was eventually put on hold and ultimately into turnaround in early 2022 when the producers took it out and found a new home for it at Starz.

How did things ever get so far, for there to be so many awards?
Francis Ford Coppola posed the question as to why awards season is getting bigger — and grander — by the year during the 50th anniversary celebration of “The Godfather.”
“There are too many awards shows now. I liked it when it was just the Oscars,” Coppola told Variety.
Yet even the Academy Awards have become too much: “I don’t like it so much as a big razzle-dazzle production,” Coppola added. “I like it more intimate, when they had a gentle quality that I think was nice.”
And the 2022 Oscars has strayed even further, by cutting nine categories including original score, makeup and hairstyling, documentary short, film editing, production design, animated short, live action short, and sound from the telecast. Instead, theses crafts and shorts categories will be presented during a pre-show segment and then edited into the...

ABC is developing a single-camera comedy inspired by the life of Alanis Morissette.
Titled “Relatable,” the project hails from co-creators Elizabeth Beckwith and Christopher Moynihan, with Beckwith writing the pilot. Moynihan will serve as showrunner, with both also executive producing. Morissette will executive produce and also pen original music for the show.
Willie Mercer and Ron West will serve as executive producers for Thruline, and Jonathan Daniel will serve as executive producer for Crush Music. 20th Television will produce.
Morissette is perhaps best known for her 1995 album “Jagged Little Pill,” which has sold over 30 million copies and inspired the Broadway musical of the same name. Since then, she has released nine more albums and contributed music to numerous productions while also appearing onscreen in several projects. In August 2021 she kicked off her world tour celebrating 25 years of “Jagged Little Pill.”
Beckwith is currently a supervising producer on the hit ABC comedy “The Goldbergs.
