The Being Maria trailer reveals a new biopic dramatizing the filming of Marlon Brando's most controversial movie. Written and directed by Jessica Palud, the upcoming French film follows actress Maria Schneider's experiences filming the 1972 erotic drama Last Tango in Paris, her subsequent rise to fame, and the impact the controversial production had on her life and career. Being Maria stars Anamaria Vartolomei in the titular role and Matt Dillion as Brando alongside Céleste Brunnquell, Giuseppe Maggio, Yvan Attal, Marie Gillain, and Jonathan Couzinié.

Now, Kino Lorber has released the first official trailer for Being Maria, finding Schneider as a promising young actress who receives a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to star in a film from an acclaimed Italian director, Bernardo Bertolucci (Giuseppe Maggio), and starring a beloved American actor, Brando. They get along great initially, but everything changes when the two men secretly plan an unscripted sexual assault scene without her consent.

Marlon Wayans is set to guest star on “Poppa’s House,” joining his brother Damon Wayans and nephew Damon Wayans Jr. on the CBS sitcom.

Damon Wayans stars as legendary talk radio host and happily divorced “Poppa” who has his point of view challenged at work when a new female co-host Ivy (Essence Atkins) is hired, and at home where he finds himself still parenting his adult son Junior (Damon Wayans Jr.), a brilliant dreamer who is trying to pursue his passion while being a responsible father and husband. The main cast also includes Tetona Jackson as Poppa’s wife Nina.

Marlon Wayans is set to portray Poppa’s brother Melvin, who is described as a “bit of a ne’er do well who comes to visit the family with a new business idea.” Poppa is quick to warn everyone not to trust him, while Ivy and Junior want to believe he’s changed.

CBS’ Poppa’s House is about to become even more of a Wayans family affair.

Marlon Wayans has signed on for a guest role on the first-year comedy, joining his brother Damon Wayans and nephew Damon Wayans Jr. His episode is scheduled to air in February.

In the installment, Marlon will play Melvin, Poppa’s (Wayans Sr.) ne’er-do-well brother who comes to visit the family and pitch a new business idea. Poppa warns everyone not to trust Melvin, but Ivy (Essence Atkins) and Junior (Wayans Jr.) want to believe he’s changed.

The episode will also be a reunion for Marlon Wayans and Atkins, who starred together on NBC’s Marlon for two seasons in 2017-18.

Essence Atkins said the opportunity to star in CBS’ new sitcom “Poppa’s House” alongside Damon Wayans Sr. completed her nearly 30-year-long career working with the iconic Wayans family.

“It was Damon. This isn’t an unveiling of Jordan Peele’s next directorial outing for Universal, but here’s a story about an intriguing new project that will be produced under the filmmaker’s Monkeypaw banner.

NBC has given a pilot order to St. Denis Medical, a half-hour mockumentary-style workplace comedy from the Superstore and American Auto duo of Justin Spitzer and Eric Ledgin. The pilot is produced by Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, where both Spitzer and Ledgin have overall deals.

Written by Spitzer and Ledgin, St. Denis Medical is a mockumentary about an underfunded, understaffed Oregon hospital where the dedicated doctors and nurses try their best to treat patients while maintaining their own sanity.

Ledgin will also executive produce, as will Spitzer under his Universal TV-based production banner Spitzer Holding Company. Simon Heuer, Head of TV Development at Spitzer Holding Company, will also executive produce.

Marlon Wayans and the minds behind South Side and Sherman’s Showcase are teaming up at Starz.

The premium cable outlet is developing a comedy series called Book of Marlon, inspired by Wayans’ life and career. Wayans and his producing partner Rick Alvarez will write the pilot episode with Diallo Riddle and Bashir Salahuddin, co-creators of HBO Max’s South Side (with Sultan Salahuddin) and IFC/AMC’s Sherman’s Showcase. (Riddle also co-starred in Wayans’ 2016-17 NBC comedy Marlon.)

Wayans will star in, co-write and executive-produce Book of Marlon, a half-hour project inspired by the comedian’s life and career. He’ll play a fictionalized version of himself, “exploring his professional life as a comedian and actor, as well as his personal life as he attempts to reconcile being a good person and loving father with being Marlon,” the official synopsis reads. The premium cabler has put the show into development after it was previously set up at HBO Max. It was originally set up at HBO Max in 2020 as part of an overall deal Wayans had signed there.

Chicago – One the brightest comedies set in Chicago is “South Side,” created by Bashir Salahuddin and Diallo Riddle. The pair moved the show from Comedy Central to HBO Max, and Season Two dropped for streaming on November 11th, 2021, with the same free-wheeling and hilarious misadventures of Simon and Kareme.

The duo (portrayed by Bashir’s brother Sultan Salahuddin and Kareme Young) are stuck in a dead end job with a rental company in the Englewood neighborhood of Chicago, and are constantly coming up with entrepreneurial “opportunities” to get their piece of the American dream. ABC is developing a single-camera comedy inspired by the life of Alanis Morissette.

Titled “Relatable,” the project hails from co-creators Elizabeth Beckwith and Christopher Moynihan, with Beckwith writing the pilot. Moynihan will serve as showrunner, with both also executive producing. Morissette will executive produce and also pen original music for the show.

Willie Mercer and Ron West will serve as executive producers for Thruline, and Jonathan Daniel will serve as executive producer for Crush Music. 20th Television will produce.

Morissette is perhaps best known for her 1995 album “Jagged Little Pill,” which has sold over 30 million copies and inspired the Broadway musical of the same name. Since then, she has released nine more albums and contributed music to numerous productions while also appearing onscreen in several projects. In August 2021 she kicked off her world tour celebrating 25 years of “Jagged Little Pill.”

Beckwith is currently a supervising producer on the hit ABC comedy “The Goldbergs.

Alanis Morissette, the singer/songwriter behind the multi-million-selling album Jagged Little Pill, is to be the inspiration for a new ABC sitcom.

Relatable, which will parody the family life of a ’90s rock legend, comes from The Goldbergs supervising producer Elizabeth Beckwith and Marlon co-creator Christopher Moynihan with “Ironic” singer Morissette exec producing and penning original music.

The project is in development at ABC with 20th Television as the studio, producing in association with Thruline Entertainment, which produces series such as Hulu’s The Great and Psych, and Crush Music, the management company that reps Morissette as well as artists including Courtney Love, Miley Cyrus, Green Day and Weezer.

Writer, director and showrunner Kenny Smith has signed an overall deal with Universal Television to develop and produce projects across various platforms.

Smith recently joined Kenan Thompson’s NBC and Utv sitcom “Kenan” as co-showrunner after completing an overall deal with ABC earlier this year. At ABC, he took over Kenya Barris’ role as co-showrunner of “Black-ish” and developed multiple projects such as “None of the Above,” a comedy produced for Freeform.

“Kenny is one of the most hilarious, collaborative and talented storytellers we know, and we’re thrilled to officially welcome him back to the Utv family,” said Jim Donnelly, Utv’s executive vice president of comedy development. “He elevates every project that he is a part of, and we feel lucky to be teaming up with him during such an exciting time in our business.
