After years of friendship and appearing in films together, Bradley Cooper and Will Arnett are finally teaming up for a comedy. The movie is called Is This Thing On?, and it’s a collaboration that’s been in the works for a while.

The film was first announced in 2023, but production was delayed due to the Writer’s Guild of America strike. Now that things are back on track, filming has started in New York City.

Exclusive: Mexican star Omar Chaparro is set to lead and produce the English-language TV comedy/action series Coyotes M.C. from Moxie 88. The project is currently being pitched to streamers/buyers.

Chaparro portrays a business ethics professor whose life is upended when he is called to step in for his father, the infamous Latino criminal biker gang leader Los Coyotes Mc.

Moxie 88 co-founders Eugenio Villamar and Dan Carrillo Levy created Coyotes M.C. as a star vehicle for Chaparro’s first English-language TV series and currently holds the rights to the project.

Carrillo Levy and Villamar will act as executive producers, writers, and creators on the show. Chaparro and Jay Weisleder will serve as executive producers. Moxie 88’s VP of Development, Eugenia Esponda, will serve as a co-executive producer.

Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn made their mark together as the hosts of the reality competition TV series “Project Runway.” The Emmy-winning pair left that show to preside over another hunt for the next hot designer, “Making the Cut.” This globe-trotting series, which debuts in March on Amazon Prime Video, takes contestants to the design capitals of the world as they compete to stay in the competition.

Amazon Prime Video has also cornered the market on the remakes of Agatha Christie‘s classic mystery novels. The adaptation of her one-off novel, “The Pale Horse,” starts to stream on Amazon Prime mid month after debuting on the BBC at Christmas.

Amazon Prime Video is out with its list of everything new coming to the streaming service in March, and the highlights include new fashion-competition series “Making the Cut,” hosted by “Project Runway” alums Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn. That’s out March 27.

Other Amazon originals include “Agatha Christie’s The Pale Horse,” a mystery coming March 13, crime series “ZeroZeroZero” and crime film “Blow the Man Down,” coming March 6 and March 20 respectively.

Prime members will also be able to stream scary movies like “Night of the Living Dead,” “The Decent” and “Pet Sematary” next month.

Pinewood is pulling out of its studio in Wales, the company’s latest exit from ventures in various locations around the world as it rejiggers its international strategy.

Pinewood said Tuesday that, following discussions with the Welsh government, it had decided to end its agreement to operate, manage and market the studio in Cardiff, the Welsh capital, where productions such as hit show “Sherlock” have been shot. The agreement will expire March 31, 2020.

The announcement comes after the company said over the summer that it was pulling out of studios in Malaysia and Atlanta. It is concentrating instead on its expansion in and around London, where Disney signed a long-term deal last month to occupy most of historic Pinewood Studios and Netflix is setting up a production hub at Shepperton Studios.

Netflix has picked up “Mr. Iglesias,” the Gabriel Iglesias comedy, for a second season, the streamer announced on Thursday.

The multi-camera comedy stars the comedian as a good-natured public high school teacher who works at his alma mater and teaches gifted, misfit kids to not only save them from being “counseled out” by a bully bureaucrat assistant principal, but also to help them unlock their full potential.

Showrunner Kevin Hench will return for Season 2 and will serve as executive producer alongside Iglesias, Ron DeBlasio and Joe Meloche.

The Razzies have announced their nominations “honoring” the worst films of the year, and as usual they’re plucking the low-hanging fruit. “Gotti” and “Holmes & Watson” have the dubious honor of leading all films with six nods each, including Worst Picture; “The Happytime Murders,” “Robin Hood,” and “Winchester” are also up for the top prize, with Donald Trump somehow landing a nomination as well.

Raven Capital Management, which had offered a stalking-horse bid of $87.5 million for Open Road last month, will take control of the company after no other bidders emerged in the company’s bankruptcy proceeding.

The auction in Delaware bankruptcy court originally scheduled for November 7 has been canceled (read the court document here).

The winning bid officially ends the ownership of the company by Donald Tang, whose Tang Media Partners acquired Open Road in 2017 and merged it with Stuart Ford’s sales outfit Im Global. While it had rebranded as Global Road, the court filings refer only to Open Road. Originally a thriving independent film entity, Open Road fell on harder times and never achieved liftoff as Global Road.

Raven’s principal, James Masciello, already has some involvement in the film industry. The private equity firm provides financing for Sculptor Media and Masciello is among the producers of its thriller The Importance of Blood,...

Open Road, the latest independent film company to hit the rocks, has received a “stalking-horse” bid of $87.5 million in Delaware bankruptcy court from a buyer identified as “Or Acquisition Co.”

According to court documents, the bid is backed by New York-based private equity firm Raven Capital Management. The firm’s principal, James Masciello, already has some involvement in the film industry. Raven provides financing for Sculptor Media and Masciello is among the producers of its thriller, The Importance of Blood, which was announced over the summer.

A stalking horse effectively sets the bar so that other bidders can’t low-ball the asset. Under bankruptcy rules, representatives of the company to be acquired select the stalking-horse bidder.

A bankruptcy judge in Delaware will weigh in on the bid during a hearing on Thursday. Multiple bidders are expected to take part in the auction for Open Road, which is scheduled for November...

Global Road, a film studio that once hoped to bridge the divide between U.S. and China and fashion hit movies for a worldwide audience, has filed for bankruptcy. The struggling company has been selling unreleased movies in recent days and laying off dozens of people as it tried to meet its financial obligations. Creditors, led by Bank of America, seized control of Global Road last month.

The company filed for Chapter 11 protection in Delaware bankruptcy court, citing between $100 million and $500 million in liabilities. Its largest creditors include Viacom, NBCUniversal, TBS, Disney, and Bank Leumi. Global Road has released a series of flops including the Jodie Foster thriller “Hotel Artemis” and the family film “Show Dogs.”

Total box office in July reached new heights with $912m.

Just halfway through the summer holidays, a second Chinese blockbuster was born. Following the huge success of Dying To Survive, Hello Mr Billionaire raked in $127.3m from its three-day opening weekend in the period of Jul 23-29, not far from the former’s four-day debut on $190.1m.

Mainly thanks to these two strong titles, along with Skyscraper, Hidden Man and new opener Detective Dee: The Four Heavenly Kings, the total box office in July reached new heights with $912m, representing a new record for the month of July of all time.

All of the top five titles of all time in China are now local Chinese-language films.

Dying To Survive performed a hat trick as the weekly champion in the period of July 16-22, but lost the weekend to new opener Skyscraper.

The social comedy drama, starring Xu Zheng, hung onto the top spot overall in its third week, adding $61.7m for $412.6m after 18 days. It has moved one notch up to become the fifth highest grossing film of all time in China, surpassing Furious 8. With the weather poised to once again be hot and sunny and the football World Cup moving into the knockout stages, UK distributors face a challenge on two fronts this weekend.

New openers are relatively sparse, and Universal’s Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom could regain its weekend box office crown from Warner Bros’ heist comedy Ocean’s 8. The former dropped 55% last weekend with £3.2m, while the latter opened with a £2.3m Fri-Sun period (boosted by four days of previews to a total of £4.3m...

Summer is here and that means one thing... movies... lots of them! It is very easy when one puts together a list like this to try and go broad. This is all well and good but sometimes we end up going a mile long and an inch deep, only to make it difficult for certain moviegoers to find the films specific to them. And while it's easy to throw a list together we decided to go a different direction and target kids with this current offering of movies.

As much as we think of younger people when we think about summer, it's hard not to feel like, with all the movies coming out, kids can sometimes be forgotten. With young people having tablets, phones and other things with screens thrust at them from a very young age, it is easy to think that any form of content can be a virtual baby-sitter.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom stormed out of the gates this weekend with a £14.3m opening, including £3.7m in previews.

The film dominated the Friday-Sunday period with a hefty £10.6m, almost 10 times the figure of the film second in this week’s chart (Solo: A Star Wars Story), despite the good weather across the UK.

It posted a site average of £15,988.from 663 sites.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is the second highest Friday-Sunday opener of the year to date, behind Avengers: Infinity War on £23.1m (£29.4m with previews), and ahead of Marvel’s Black Panther...

In its second week of release, Solo: A Star Wars Story managed to take in $29.3 million to remain on top of the weekend box office. This gives the film an impressive two-week total of $148.9 million. And, as it did last week, Deadpool 2 finished in second place, though this time the margin wasn’t nearly as drastic as the Marvel sequel took in $23.3 million (just $6 million behind its Star Wars competition).

Debuting in the third spot of this week’s top ten is the survival tale Adrift, starring Shailene Woodley and Sam Claflin, which earned $11.5 million in its first weekend of release. Adrift thus nudges Avengers: Infinity War—which added $10.4 million to raise its six-week total to $642.9 million—to fourth place. Incidentally, we suspect the studio isn’t sweating the slight dip in this week’s ranking given the film’s overall performance.

While Disney's Solo: A Star Wars Story had no trouble coming away with a box office win over the Memorial Day holiday weekend, the movie made more headlines for how it failed to impress, underperforming with a three-day tally of $84.4 million and a four-day Memorial Day holiday weekend total of $103 million. The Star Wars spin-off had the extended holiday weekend all to itself in its debut, but this weekend it will face three newcomers, Stx Entertainment's Adrift, Paramount's comedy Action Point and Blumhouse Tilt's thriller Upgrade, neither of which will usurp Solo, or even Deadpool 2, most likely, for what could be a rather tame weekend. We're predicting Solo will come out on top with $39.7 million.

Dog is a man’s best – or so they say. Show Dogs is the latest canine outing from Beverly Hills Chihuahua and Scooby-Doo director Raja Gosnell that ought to have some pedigree to it by now. Added to which, we just can’t get enough of cute animals showing us humans up on film.

The plot is predictable: Max is a non-nonsense Rottweiler police dog (voiced by Ludacris) paired with a human cop partner called Frank (Will Arnett) to solve the mystery of a missing panda. This leads them to go undercover at a prestigious dog show in Las Vegas. They (naturally) don’t hit it off to begin with but warm to each other in the end. Oh and there are lots of other doggie personalities accompanying them along the way, including a papillon called Philippe (voiced by Stanley Tucci), a camp former show champion with a liking for human pampering and beds.

This is the Pure Movies review of Show Dogs, starring Alan Cumming, Natasha Lyonne, Will Arnett, Stanley Tucci, RuPaul, Shaquille O'Neal, Gabriel Iglesias and Ludacris, directed by Raja Gosnell. Dog is a man’s best friend – or so they say. Show Dogs is the latest canine outing from Beverly Hills Chihuahua and Scooby-Doo director Raja Gosnell that ought to have some pedigree to it by now. Added to which, we just can’t get enough of cute animals showing humans up on film.

With no direct competition in wide release at the box office, most expected Disney and LucasFilm's Solo: A Star Wars Story to destroy the competition, and while it did come away with an easy win, it was not as big a victory as most expected. The four-day Memorial Day holiday weekend estimates reveal that Solo took in $84.7 million over the three-day weekend, up slightly from yesterday's three-day estimates of $83.3 million, with a four-day estimate of $103 million. This is far below the Memorial Day weekend record of $139.8 million set by Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End that Solo was expected to break, especially after such a strong start.

Despite finishing atop the Memorial Day weekend box office, the latest entry to the “Star Wars” canon from Disney and Lucasfilm, Solo: A Star Wars Story, failed to break the $100 million plateau, managing just $83.3 million. Albeit, this was still around double what second-place finisher Deadpool 2 brought in with $42.7 million. All in all, it must be considered a disappointing opening given the lofty expectations for the film.

With its second-place finish, Deadpool 2 brought its two-week total up to $207.4 million. Third-place finisher Avengers: Infinity War took in $16.5 million to give it an astounding five-week total of $621.7 million. This moves the super-hero team-up epic to sixth place on the all-time domestic box-office chart, just ahead of its forbearer The Avengers (2012).

Studio Global Road Entertainment have announced they are re-cutting their family film Show Dogs - released today in its uncut form in the UK and Ireland - for the Us market after American parents and campaigners including the Us National Center on Sexual Exploitation claimed the film might inadvertently suggest to children they should suffer abuse in silence.

The concerns focus on two scenes in which police dog Max (voiced by Ludacris) has his genitals felt by his human partner (Will Arnett) in preparation for going undercover at a dog show. Although the scene is played for laughs, it has caused an outcry in the Us.

Global Road have now said they will be cutting the scenes “that some have deemed not appropriate for children”.

Should you require further evidence of western cultural decadence, consider the staggering hours moviemakers have logged filming dogs doing things dogs aren’t generally inclined to do: playing competitive sports, seeking Simon Cowell’s approval (Pudsey), rolling over for second billing behind long-eclipsed humanoid stars. Show Dogs hails from that good-cop-dog-cop line that once begat Turner and Hooch and K-9 – but its Usp is that the mutts now bark back with (minor) celebrity voices. Honestly, we’ve tried our best to avoid talking about Will Arnett’s latest film, “Show Dogs.” The movie looks god awful and the premise is stupidly bonkers. Overall, it just seems like the type of movie we can somehow erase from our memories and pretend it never existed. Well, regardless of our thoughts on the film, families paid their hard-earned money this past weekend on “Show Dogs,” and some left horrified – and surprisingly not by the quality of the film.

Us cinemas will show a version of the family comedy without scenes in which a dog is coached into tolerating genital inspection

The studio behind new family comedy Show Dogs has agreed to a last-minute edit in response to lobbying groups and bloggers concerned that the film might suggest to children that sexual molestation is something that should be silently endured.

On Thursday, Global Road Entertainment confirmed they would be cutting two scenes “that some have deemed not appropriate for children”. The scenes in question are thought to involve Max, a police rottweiler voiced by Ludacris, who has his genitals groped by cop Will Arnett as part of his training to go undercover at dog shows. Initially, Max is upset by the intrusion, but is instructed to “go to a zen place” – which involves dancing happily among stars with Arnett – in order to try to ignore what is happening.

Global Road Entertainment is cutting two scenes from the family comedy “Show Dogs” over concerns about a scene where a dog is comfortable with strangers touching his genitals.

“Responding to concerns raised by moviegoers and some specific organizations, Global Road Entertainment has decided to remove two scenes from the film ‘Show Dogs’ that some have deemed not appropriate for children,” the company said. “The company takes these matters very seriously and remains committed to providing quality entertainment for the intended audiences based on the film’s rating. We apologize to anybody who feels the original version of ‘Show Dogs’ sent an inappropriate message. The revised version of the film will be available for viewing nationwide starting this weekend.”

Five days after “Show Dogs” opened as family-friendly fare in more than 3,200 theaters, distributor Global Road Entertainment announced that it will cut footage that — to parents and advocates — suggests sexual abuse. The Aussie theater chain Cineplex Australia had recently dropped the film from its lineup.

Show Dogs, a new family comedy about a police hound who goes undercover to infiltrate a dog show, has come in for criticism over a scene which some feel sends a troubling message to impressionable audiences.

In a statement on Tuesday, the National Center on Sexual Exploitation (Ncose) says a scene in which Max (voiced by the actor-rapper Ludacris) is instructed to put his discomfort over genital groping to one side and instead “go to a zen place” sends “a troubling message that grooms children for sexual abuse”.
