Nicholas Galitzine (Purple Hearts) has been tapped to star alongside Academy Award winner Anne Hathaway in Prime Video’s film The Idea of You, based on Robinne Lee’s bestselling contemporary love story of the same name, which goes into production in October.

The film from Emmy-nominated director Michael Showalter (The Big Sick) centers on Sophie (Hathaway), a 40-year-old divorced mother. Sophie’s husband Dan left her for a younger woman, and now he has canceled his Coachella trip with their 15-year-old daughter. Sophie then picks up the pieces, braving the crowds and desert heat in Dan’s place. While at the music festival, she meets 24-year-old Hayes Campbell (Galitzine), the lead singer of the hottest boy band on the planet, August Moon.

Adrien Brody and Vera Farmiga are starring in the independent mystery thriller “The Salamander Lives Twice” with production scheduled to begin in the spring.

Brody will portray a man with an impenetrable briefcase and no memory who is found on the shoreline of a remote island by a woman and her daughter — played by Farmiga — who are the last remaining members of a once prosperous family dynasty.

Ant Timpson is directing “The Salamander Lives Twice” from a Toby Harvard script, with a story by Timpson and Harvard. The film is produced by Emma Slade for Firefly Films, Katie Holly for Blinder Films and is executive produced by Timpson and XYZ Films, which is handling worldwide sales. “The Salamander Lives Twice” will be introduced by XYZ to buyers, with CAA Media Finance co-repping domestic rights, at the online American Film Market, which opens Monday.

Adrien Brody and Vera Farmiga will star in Ant Timpson’s mystery thriller The Salamander Lives Twice, which XYZ Films has boarded for worldwide sales at AFM 2020 Online and jointly represents the US with CAA Media Finance.

Production is scheduled for spring 2021 with Emma Slade of Firefly Films producing alongside Katie Holly for Blinder Films. Timpson and XYZ Films serve as executive producers.

Toby Harvard wrote the screenplay from a story by Timpson and Harvard about an injured man (Brody) with an impenetrable briefcase and no memory who washes up on a remote island.

The Nine Network screened just two first-release Australian dramas – Seachange and Bad Mothers – last year and had to rely on New Zealand imports to fulfill the local drama quota.

Kiwi series The Brokenwood Mysteries, Straight Forward, Westside, The Bad Seed and Dear Murderer and feature film The Changeover aired on 9Gem, accounting for 50 per cent of the network’s local drama obligations.

Conversely, Nz dramas accounted for only 5 per cent of Network 10’s local drama hours and and 10 per cent of the Seven Network’s, according to the Australian Communications and Media Authority’s 2019 Compliance with Australian Content Standard and Children’s Television Standard report issued last week.

The report prompted Screen Producers Australia to renew its attack on Australian broadcasters’ continued reliance on “cheap, second-run New Zealand programs” to acquit their local Australian content obligations.

A confetti-like assemblage of different horror and fantasy components blended together, “The Changeover” borrows a little bit of everything to carve out a unique path for itself, even if it ultimately leads nowhere. Here’s the trailer for an interesting upcoming New Zealand horror film called The Changeover. The story centers on a young teen girl who finds herself facing off with an ancient evil spirt to save her younger brother.

This is more on the low-budget end of spectrum, but it still looks like it tells an interesting story that I’d enjoy. I’m curious to see how this story plays out. Here’s the synopsis:

Mimi Steinbauer’s Radiant Films International has come on board to handle international rights on the dramatic thriller Stripped. Pic reps the feature directorial debut of veteran camera operator Patrick O’Brien. Matthew O’Brien wrote the script in which Daredevil‘s Charlie Cox and Pitch Perfect‘s Brittany Snow star. Radiant will introduce the project to buyers at the upcoming American Film Market.

Stripped is produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Erik Howsam of di Bonaventura Pictures and O’Brien in partnership with Vancouver-based Lighthouse Pictures.

Screen 2015 Star Of Tomorrow Nicholas Galitzine, who will be seen in tonight’s (Sept 11) world premiere of Toronto International Film Festival’s Contemporary World Cinema selection Handsome Devil [pictured], has joined The Changeover, which Radiant Films International is selling.

Previously announced Timothy Spall, Melanie Lynskey, Lucy Lawless and Erana James also star in the supernatural thriller, which is scheduled to begin shooting on September 19.

Co-directors Stuart McKenzie and Miranda Harcourt will shoot entirely in New Zealand, in and around the Christchurch Central Business District. McKenzie adapted the screenplay from New Zealand author Margaret Mahy’s Ya novel The Changeover: A Supernatural Romance.

The story centres on a 16-year-old girl who discovers her true identity and the supernatural powers within her after an ancient spirit attacks her infant brother.

Butler wrote the screenplay and Rebecca O’Flanagan and Robert Walpole produced for Treasure Entertainment. Claire McCaughley and Sarah Gunn served as co-producers.
