This is the first movie that critic Brad Jones walked out on. He ranked it #1 in his list of the worst movies of 2016.
This is the first documentary to win a Razzie Award for Worst Picture.
The film is considered a documentary, even though most of the footage is staged.
This is Dinesh D'Souza's third film. He would later thank Donald Trump, the President who pardoned him, in his next film Death of a Nation (2018).
Bruce Schooley is the eighth person to win a Worst Director Razzie for their directorial debut. Previous winners are: Robert Greenwald for Xanadu (1980), Prince for Under the Cherry Moon (1986), William Shatner for Star Trek V : L'Ultime Frontière (1989), Jennifer Lynch for Boxing Helena (1993), Steven Seagal for Terrain miné (1994), Tom Green for Va te faire foutre Freddy! (2001), and Elizabeth Banks for My Movie Project (2013).
