Exclusive: Liberty Hobbs, an actor who has appeared in The Syndicate and Grey’s Anatomy, has set up a production outfit and is planning an adaptation of J. A. Baker’s thriller novel The Perfect Parents.
Hobbs, who divides her time between LA and the UK, has established Lil’ Birdy Productions and is in the early stages of developing The Perfect Parents for the screen.
Hobbs was a series regular in The Syndicate, the BBC lottery drama starring BAFTA-winner Timothy Spall and created by Kay Mellor, the late screenwriter.
Hobbs said she felt like Mellor had sent her The Perfect Parents. “It’s based in Yorkshire and Kay was a proud Yorkshire lass,” she said. “I just really connected to it.”
The actor added that she had long dreamed of creating her own projects and secured the rights to The Perfect Parents after conversations with Baker over their mutual love of Yorkshire.
