Samuel L. Jackson is making another Western. The actor is set to star in Man of War, which will be directed by Tim Story.

According to Deadline, Sheldon Turner penned the screenplay for Man of War, which is set up at Paramount. Jennifer Klein and Turner are producing through their company 100% Productions. Story is also attached as a producer, with The Story Company’s Vicky Story set to executive produce. In Man of War, per the logline, "Jackson plays a newly retired and long-revered general who returns to his hometown in rural Georgia after the death of his wife to find it in the throes of corruption, gentrification and racism. Using battle-honed strategy and combat skills, he’ll wage all-out war against the town and the billionaire exploiting it."

Now that the spooky season is over, it's time to start looking ahead to the most wonderful time of the year, also known as the holiday season. One of the biggest television traditions coming up soon is Freeforms annual 25 Days of Christmas. Its line up usually consists of seasonal classics like Home Alone and The Santa Clause, with 2024 being no different. However, in recent years, Freeforms parent company Disney has been using events like this to debut some of their Disney+ original films and TV shows on the traditional cable network. This year that includes the 2023 Disney+ original film Dashing Through the Snow.

December and the holidays are one month closer. Now, Freeform has released the schedule for its traditional “25 Days of Christmas” programming. Last year, Freeform was #1 for holiday viewership for the 11th year out of 12 years reaching almost 37 million viewers!

Good tidings Freeform brings, as the network celebrates the adored seasonal tradition of 25 Days of Christmas. The programming event returns to spread holiday cheer starting on Sunday, December 1.

A delightful collection of Christmas favorites is being offered to make spirits bright, including Home Alone, The Santa Clause trilogy, and Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000). Select airings of perennial favorite Home Alone will incorporate “pop-up” facts about the classic holiday movie.

It’s November 1, and Freeform is already ready to start spreading holiday cheer.

The network released its 25 Days of Christmas schedule Friday, revealing all the programming coming up in December. There’s something for everyone, with things kicking off at 7 a.m. and extending through at least midnight every day from December 1 to 25.

The lineup includes classics like the Home Alone films, Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas, the Santa Clause movies, Miracle on 34th Street and multiple versions of The Grinch.

There’s also some non-holiday films sprinkled in, including Moana and Toy Story.

And, as always, Freeform has a few network premieres planned, including one for Mariah Carey’s All I Want for Christmas Is You on December 1, after which it’ll repeatedly air through Christmas Day. Dashing Through the Snow and Santa’s Little Helper are also getting a Freeform debut on December 8.

Freeform’s 25 days of Christmas is back for another year just in time for the holidays.

Kicking off on Dec. 1, the lineup will include classics like the “Home Alone” movies, “Miracle on 34th Street” (1994), “Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas,” “The Santa Clause” franchise, both versions of “Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas,” “Frosty the Snowman” and “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.”

The logline is being kept under wraps. Lawrence Lamont is directing with the screenplay written by Syreeta Singleton. Producing is Hoorae’s Issa Rae and Sara Diya Rastogi, ColorCreative’s Deniese Davis and Macro Film Studios’ Charles D. King, James Lopez and Poppy Hanks. Singleton is co-producing. Big Boss’ Palmer and Sharon Palmer are executive producing. Macro Film Studios is also co-financing.

Lil Rel Howery has joined the star-studded voice cast of Animal Friends, Legendary Entertainment’s R-rated CG/live-action hybrid feature.

Peter Atencio, who last directed the 2023 action comedy The Machine, is helming the project whose call sheet includes Ryan Reynolds, Jason Momoa, Aubrey Plaza, Daniel Levy and Addison Rae.

Plot details are being kept under wraps but the project, written by Kevin Burrows and Matt Mider, is being described as a road trip adventure. Howery will voice one of the animated characters.

Producing alongside Legendary are Reynolds’ Maximum Effort and producer Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios. Visual effects and animation are being handled by visual entertainment services company Dneg.

Exclusive: Scottie Thompson (Hellfire), David Koechner (Anchorman), Gillian White (Trouble Man!) and Isaiah Washington (Grey’s Anatomy) are currently starring in Christmas action-comedy Dashing Through The Snow.

From writer-director Prince Bagdasarian, the movie is also starring are Hunter Ives (Abstraction), James Di Giacomo (The Kill Room) and social media influencer, Nick Antonyan.

Set in a cabin on Christmas Eve, the film will see US Marshall Jo (Thompson) protecting a pregnant fugitive (White) from a bounty hunter (Ives) and a hitman Santa (Koechner), accompanied by his henchmen of elves.

In 24, which ran for nine seasons, Rajskub played the fan-favorite character of Chloe O’Brian, the intelligence analyst who is protagonist Jack Bauer’s (Kiefer Sutherland) most trusted colleague. While you can always rely on Hallmark and other channels to provide a frankly overwhelming number of new Christmas movies each year, the streaming services have all been slower to crank out their own Yuletide romcoms and North Pole-centric misadventures. ABC announces the Hollywood lineup for ‘New Year’s Rockin Eve 2024’

Bebe Rexha, Green Day, Janelle Monáe, and Ellie Goulding will perform on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2024. The Hollywood lineup also includes Aqua, Doechii, Loud Luxury, Two Friends, Ludacris, Nile Rodgers & Chic, Paul Russell, Reneé Rapp, Coco Jones, and Thirty Seconds to Mars.

Emmy winner Jeannie Mai has been tapped to host the Hollywood portion of the broadcast, with Ryan Seacrest returning to host from New York for his 19th year. Rita Ora will join Seacrest live from Times Square. The broadcast kicks off on Sunday, December 31st at 8pm Et.

The whole issue of believing is key to the movie, since Howery plays Santa Claus — or, perhaps, a petty criminal who’s pretending to be Santa Claus. The character calls himself Nick, and he’s dressed as a variation on the old-school Victorian Santa: half-frame glasses, a coat festooned with gold buttons and paramilitary shoulder flaps, a vest of gold finery, along with a few token bits of street cool.

Howery’s line readings sound improvised, and that’s a good thing. He’s the ebullient, fast-talking spark plug of a formula comedy with a cheap engine, though one that putters along harmlessly enough. Not so long ago, there were maybe three or four Christmas movies per holiday season.

Multiple linear channels and streamers are getting into the holiday spirit this month and next by dropping original Christmas movies, as well as old favorites and one-off holiday specials. As usual, Hallmark has wall-to-wall flicks planned until the end of the month, but Great American Family, Lifetime and BET have their own original slates as well to help ring in the new year.

And if the classics are all that you are looking for, there are still airings of It’s a Wonderful Life, Elf, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Home Alone, The Santa Cause, The Wizard of Oz and Miracle on 34th Street scheduled for the boomers and Gen Xers.
