This post contains spoilers for this week’s episode of Severance, “The After Hours,” which is now streaming on Apple TV+.
For the last two weeks, Severance has set aside events on the severed floor to provide backstory on Gemma, and then on Harmony, with mixed results. The Gemma episode was frequently dazzling, but also a bit muddled in what it was and wasn’t managing to convey, while Harmony’s hometown visit felt like too long a detour from other stories, and more compelling characters.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer is fondly remembered as a great fantasy show that features one of the most iconic protagonists of all time. The show follows Buffy Summers as she struggles to balance life as an ordinary high school student with life as the Slayer, the chosen one to free the world from evil forces. On her journey, Buffy comes across valuable allies and all sorts of villains -- from demigods to ancient vampires.
Though Buffy the Vampire Slayer has its share of compelling sidekicks and interesting big bads, the show introduces plenty of annoying characters over the course of seven seasons. Characters like Willow and Spike stand out for their nuanced personalities and fascinating character arcs. On the other hand, some Buffy characters suffer from being one-dimensional and downright spiteful.

Making its world premiere in Berlin’s Panorama section, Lesbian Space Princess marks a groundbreaking moment for Australian independent animation. Directed by Emma Hough Hobbs and Leela Varghese, the film is the first of its kind produced in South Australia and presents a bold, adult animated sci‑fi comedy that challenges conventional narratives.
The film follows Princess Saira, an introverted royal from the vibrant planet Clitopolis, who embarks on a high-stakes mission to rescue her ex-girlfriend, Kiki, after the latter is abducted by a group ominously dubbed the Straight White Maliens. With a mix of upbeat musical numbers, striking candy-colored visuals, and clever humor, Lesbian Space Princess offers an “inter-gay-lactic” journey of self-discovery and empowerment.
Hough Hobbs and Varghese, who have been partners for four years, shared that the project emerged from a moment of creative tension. “I stormed off and had a shower,” Hough Hobbs recalled in an interview,...

Best known to daytime fans for his portrayal as Father Lonigan on “Passions,” actor Bruce French has died. He was 79 years old.
French died Friday, February 7 in Los Angeles of complications from Alzheimer’s, his wife of 34 years, Eileen Barnett (“Days of our Lives”), told The Hollywood Reporter. French was first diagnosed with Alzheimer’s around four years ago, Barnett shared with the outlet.
On “Passions,” French made a memorable impression on the show playing a priest who had lost his sight after a church he had been in burned down while he was looking to save a statue of an angel. His primary role in Harmony was advising citizens on the problems they sought solutions to, particularly those told to him by the young adult characters.
French appeared in several hundred episodes of the drama series from its debut on NBC in July 1999 and into its run on DirecTV’s 101 Network.

RhonniRose Mantilla is a pro when it comes to the stage. Theater is a big love of hers, and she’s performed in productions of some of the biggest musicals, including Grease, The Wiz, and A Chorus Line. Earlier this year, she made her Broadway debut, and now she’s making her daytime television debut in Beyond the Gates. We get to witness her big break, so seeing what she’ll do with her role as Dani Dupree’s youngest daughter, Chelsea Hamilton, is exciting.
The Early Days
RhonniRose Mantilla hails from the gateway to the West, St. Louis, Missouri. While she was in high school at Parkway North, she once told them what she was most proud of. She said, “My talents like my abilities to dance and sing.” And when she added acting to her skillset, she turned into a triple threat.

When is a Tubi Original film secretly a Lifetime film? The answer is director Kevin Arbouet’s Toxic Harmony, which has all of the familiar beats of a low-stake thriller but only some of the enjoyable aspects.
Set in the LA music industry, Briana Cole and Patricia Cuffie-Jones’ screenplay begins with a standard cold open in which an unnamed woman (Reesa Ishiyama) is attacked and murdered in her apartment.
This will eventually be revealed to be Omni, but just like the second character introduced – Darla (Lauren Darlene) – she’s little more than a plot point. The film’s main focus is on aspiring singer Constance (Ashley Love-Mills), who has the raw talent and ambition but none of the connections to find her big break.
Constance’s manager/boyfriend Lucas (Donovan Carter) has good intentions, but he lacks the finesse to get her an audience with execs like Tyree (Barton Fitzpatrick...

The characters in the Honkai: Star Rail 2.7 banners have been leaked, giving players insight into what they can expect from the gacha system during the upcoming patch, including the possible 5-star Light Cones that will appear. Version 2.7 is the next major patch for HoYoverses turn-based RPG as the game draws closer to the end of Version 2.6, the update that took players back to the planet of Penacony and introduced Rappa in Honkai: Star Rail. The developments of Version 2.6 are not too relevant, but they set the terrain for some of the new content in Version 2.7.
Other than teasing the two new characters, Sunday and Fugue, HoYoverse has not revealed more details about the patch. The leaks about Version 2.7s character banners have been mostly scarce up until now and, with the Version 2.7 livestream arriving soon, it should not take too long for players to have official confirmation on who they...

Squee! Days of Our Lives spoilers for the week of 10-14-24 promise that JJ Deveraux will be back to help unravel Fake Abigail’s scheme.

Midnight screenings rarely come more fitting than “Baby Invasion,” Harmony Korine’s latest experimental, unconventional and video game-like assault on the senses, which had its world premiere on Saturday night in Venice to an 8.5-minute standing ovation.
The film served up a provocative array of unique visuals: We saw our heavily armed, baby-faced criminals torturing people, dancing to Burial’s thumping techno score, chopping up huge piles of coke and throwing up the middle finger while sitting on the toilet.
Whatever it is we witnessed, the crowd seemed to lap it up. Once the hour and 20 minute movie wrapped, cheers erupted from the audience as Korine danced to the beat that soundtracked the credits. And it didn’t stop there: fans erupted into a chant of “Harmony! Harmony! Harmony!” as the director waved his arms as if to say, “More! More! More!”

Update, with League statement: Actors’ Equity Association, the labor union representing more than 51,000 professional actors and stage managers in live theatre, will cease issuing contracts for work on productions in development as negotiations with the Broadway League have stalled.
“We never wanted it to come to this,” said Equity Negotiating Team Chair Stephen Bogardus in a statement, “but the wage package put across the table by The Broadway League was just plain unacceptable. Our members cannot afford to work on this contract at the proposed compensation levels over the next five years.”
The union has been in negotiations with the League – the trade organization representing theater owners and producers – since January; the current contract expired February 11. The negotiations and the ceasing of development contracts does not impact current Broadway productions or shows opening later this season.

New leaks suggest Sunday's possible release will happen in an upcoming version of Honkai: Star Rail and it is mainly positive news. Sunday may arrive before the game's next destination, as hinted by leaks, which makes sense since he is from Penacony. Rumors of Sunday being an Imaginary character following the Path of Harmony could disappoint players, however.
New leaked details about Sundays release and his possible element and Path in Honkai: Star Rail have emerged, hinting at both good and disappointing news for players. Sunday is an important Npc in the story of Penacony, as he is the head of the Oak Family, which leads the rest of the families that run the Planet of Festivities. Sunday is also Robin's older brother, and he has a close connection to his celebrity sister. While the release of Robin in Honkai: Star Rail has already occurred, Sundays has not, but new...

Two new castings have been announced for the upcoming indie horror flick The Necklace. They are actresses Christina Moore and Brynne Kurland. More on this film and these castings below.
The Necklace is an Esx Entertainment produced horror movie from Chilean director and writer Juan Pablo Arias Munoz. Chloë Sevigny didn’t cry when she lost the Oscar to Angelina Jolie in 2000, but she does still have a few choice words about the Academy’s decision to have Jolie compete in the Best Supporting Actress category at the time.
Sevigny was nominated for indie true story “Boys Don’t Cry,” while Jolie won for novel adaptation “Girl, Interrupted.” According to Sevigny, though, Jolie had more of a lead role.
“I went [to the 2000 Oscars] with my boyfriend at the time, Harmony Korine, and I lost. Angelina Jolie won for ‘Girl, Interrupted,’ which was not a supporting part, I would say. Not that I’m bitter!” Sevigny told Variety. “But it was a very competitive category that year. Catherine Keener, Samantha Morton, Toni Collette and me — it was just great actresses.”
Sevigny reflected on the unanticipated success of “Boys Don’t Cry,” which landed Hillary Swank her first Academy Award too.

In order to unlock his full potential as a Physical Dps, you will need to farm the correct materials for Boothill in Honkai: Star Rail, allowing you to fully Ascend the character and level up his Traces. Boothill, like Robin, is a new 5-star Physical character in the game introduced with Version 2.2. Contrary to her, however, Boothill follows the Path of the Hunt and operates as a single-target Dps, as opposed to Robins specialty as a support character following the Path of the Harmony. Robin and Boothill in Honkai: Star Rail 2.2 arrive alongside a load of new content.
This includes the end of the main Penacony questline, as well as a new weekly boss encounter, a new Trailblazer form, and much more. Boothill is a Galaxy Ranger who lives up to his reputation as a cowboy and initiates duels against single opponents in battle. During duels, they deal increased damage to one another,...

The Drama League Awards unveiled their slate of winners at an in-person ceremony on Friday, May 17. The event was hosted by Frank Dilella at the Ziegfeld Ballroom, where attendees toasted the best of Broadway and Off-Bradway.
The biggest winner of the day was Sarah Paulson, who claimed the coveted Distinguished Performance Award for her fiery role in “Appropriate.” That play, by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins, also took home the League’s trophy for Best Revival of a Play.

Freestyle Digital Media, the digital film distribution division of Byron Allen’s Allen Media Group, has acquired North American VOD rights to the drama-thriller “The Ghost Trap” and the social drama “Global Harmony,” the company announced during the Cannes Film Market. Allen Media also recently unveiled plans for a third installment in its successful “47 Meters Down” shark franchise.
“The Ghost Trap” (pictured) is the story of a young lobsterman who is forced to choose between right and wrong when his girlfriend suffers a traumatic head injury when she is swept off his boat by a rogue wave and rival lobstering family sabotages his gear, sparking a deadly trap war.
The film stars Zak Steiner (“Euphoria”), Greer Grammer (“Deadly Illusions”), Sarah Catherine Hook and Steven Ogg (“Westworld”). James Khanlarian makes his feature directorial debut, directing from K. Stephens’ script, which is based on the book she authored by the same name,...

Spoilers for the Mistborn series and The Stormlight Archive Book 4
Kelsier is speculated to be a potential villain in Mistborn Era 3, but he should not become a straightforward bad guy. Keeping Kelsier's original character arc and values intact would add depth and complexity to his role in the series. Even if Kelsier makes mistakes, offering him a chance at redemption could make for a compelling and nuanced storyline.
A popular villain theory for Mistborn Era 3 has its appeals, but it risks hurting the saga's overarching narrative and the upcoming continuation. The first Mistborn series, Era 1, consists of three novels in a quintessentially medieval fantasy setting, while Era 2 jumps ahead 300 years on the Scadrial timeline with technological advancements and cultural changes. The next Mistborn book will continue this trend, picking up events decades later in a technological era resembling the real world's 1980s, with early computers and developing nerd culture.

Two of the more anticipated star turns on Broadway this season — Steve Carell making his debut in the Lincoln Center Theater revival of Uncle Vanya and The Sopranos alum Michael Imperioli returning to the New York stage in Circle in the Square’s An Enemy of the People — got no love from Tony Award nominators today, and the West End hit Patriots, written by The Crown‘s Peter Morgan, barely registered on the roster, with only one nom for lead actor Michael Stuhlbarg.
Even more empty-handed than Patriots was The Wiz, the cheery, if rote, revival of the beloved Black retelling of The Wizard of Oz. Despite a star turn by Wayne Brady, it’s possible that Tony nominators saw the Broadway revival for the uninspired road show it is.
Other shows with zero nominations included I Need That starring Danny DeVito, the Barry Manilow-Bruce Sussman musical Harmony,...

Farming the right materials for Robins character Ascension in Honkai: Star Rail is a necessary step when optimizing her as a support unit for your various team comps. Robin is a 5-star support unit added with Version 2.2 and, within the story, she is a well-known pop star from the planet of Penacony. She is Sundays sister and a member of the Oak Family in the Planet of Festivities. Robin is one of the new characters in Honkai: Star Rail 2.2, along with the Dps Boothill. In combat, she uses Physical Dmg and follows the Path of the Harmony.

With 36 productions eligible for this year’s Tony Awards, there were plenty of names missing when nominations were announced by Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Renée Elise Goldsberry on Tuesday morning. Among the most surprising 2024 Tony nominations snubs was “Patriots.” Peter Morgan‘s history play about Russia earned three Olivier Award nominations last year, including Best New Play, Actor (Tom Hollander) and Featured Actor (Will Keen). In New York, it only scored one for Michael Stuhlbarg, who took over the role played by Hollander in the UK; Keen, who reprises his role as Vladimir Putin, did not score a nomination in a category stuffed with “Stereophonic” performers.
The revival of “The Who’s Tommy” also significantly underperformed. Gold Derby users predicted it would land three nominations for Best Musical Revival, Best Actor for Ali Louis Bourzgui and Best Choreographer for Lorin Latarro, but it only earned one bid in the top revival category.

Close races and sharp elbows are likely when the 2024 Tony Award nominations are announced Tuesday morning. Some of the nominations are no-brainers: The much-praised and hugely popular Merrily We Roll Along is a sure bet for all concerned, but what about more polarizing fare? Cabaret, Here Lies Love, Water for Elephants, I’m looking at you.

“This crazy whirlwind of a season has finally come to an end,” declares Sam Eckmann as we kick off our final Tony Awards nominations predictions slugfest of 2024. We begin our conversation with the musical categories and the ever-challenging race for Best Musical. Sam and I both feel “pretty secure” about the top three shows – “Suffs,” “Illinoise” and “Hell’s Kitchen” – and we surprisingly concur on the final two slots, predicting “Here Lies Love” and “The Outsiders.” There are so many potential nominees in contention, though, that we cite our alternate picks as I opt for “Days of Wine and Roses” as my number six, and Sam goes with “The Notebook.” Watch our full Tony Awards video slugfest above.

The 2023-2024 Broadway season has been positively packed with an abundance of talent as dozens of new productions danced across New York City stages. The nominating committee for the Tony Awards usually does a great job in selecting the best of the best, thanks to a fair system that requires committee members to see all eligible productions. But given the sheer volume of shows this season, David Buchanan and I thought it best to remind these voters of contenders most in need of recognition.

Nominations for the 2024 Outer Critics Circle Awards were announced on Tuesday, April 23. The stars of the hit Broadway revival of “Merrily We Roll Along,” Jonathan Groff, Lindsay Mendez and Daniel Radcliffe, read off the nominees live from the Museum of Broadway.
Off-Broadway productions ultimately out-paced Broadway with this critics group. The new David Yazbek musical “Dead Outlaw” led the pack with nine nominations. It was followed by “The Connector,” another Off-Broadway musical, and “Stereophonic,” a lauded Broadway play, with seven nominations each.

The Tony Awards Administration Committee met for the third time during the 2023-2024 Broadway season on April 19, to discuss eligibility of 8 productions for the 77th Annual Tony Awards in 2024.
They discussed eight productions: “Days of Wine and Roses,” “Doubt,” “The Notebook,” “An Enemy of the People,” “Water for Elephants,” “The Who’s Tommy,” “The Outsiders” and “Lempicka.” The group also met during the winter to discuss late fall and winter openings, but those determinations were not made public until now. Those shows include: “I Need That,” “Harmony,” “Spamalot,” “How to Dance in Ohio,” “Appropriate” and “Prayer for the French Republic.”

“It’s the role of a lifetime,” exclaims Chip Zien in reference to his character Rabbi in “Harmony.” The actor’s agents were initially hesitant to send him the script for the Barry Manilow and Bruce Sussman musical, as Zien wanted to pull back from the typical rabbi roles he frequently played. But, this character wasn’t just any rabbi. He had a remarkable true life story as a member of a notorious singing ensemble which rose to fame while Nazis rose to power. “It was a brilliant, period-specific score, and the whole thing has just been a thrill from the get go,” says Zien. Modern co-op games are often manifestations of a troubled mind. There are few instances where these games know exactly who they are (with a few broken bits), and at some point, devs and designers manage to fix it. Unfortunately, that’s simply not the case with Ascendant Infinity, an online co-op title being developed by PlayFusion.
At its foundations, Ascendant Infinity is a competitive co-op title that mixes PvE elements with 3v3v3v3 gunplay. The developers have tried convincing players that the game has everything you’d need for an adrenaline-filled first-person shooter experience that doesn’t take itself seriously. Well, that’s unfortunate, because I hope the makers of this game take it seriously and fix its core problems.
At the time of writing, the Closed Beta version of the game is live between April 5 and 6.

The new Trailblazer form in Honkai: Star Rail 2.2 has leaked, and is rumored to be a support unit with offensive abilities. The character is said to deal Imaginary Dmg and trigger a buff for allies called Backup Dancer. Harmony Trailblazer may have the potential to rival Ruan Mei's support powers if the leaks translate into true gameplay value.
Details about the new Trailblazer form in Honkai: Star Rail 2.2 have allegedly leaked, giving more insight into how they will operate with a new Element and Path, as well as hinting at the potential of rivaling one of the game’s best characters. The Trailblazer is the main character of the story and a reflection of the players themselves – Caelus has the male-presenting body type, while Stella is the female-presenting protagonist. Despite not currently being the best, Trailblazer is one of the most unique characters, as they have the ability to swap the Paths they follow.

To Ascend Sparkle in Honkai: Star Rail and level up all of her abilities, also known as traces, you will need to farm several materials, many of which were introduced with Version 2.0’s Penacony. In Version 2.0, the Astral Express crew is invited by the rulers of the Land of Dreams to attend the Charmony Festival. In the new destination, Sparkle is introduced. The 5-star unit was also added as a playable character during the Phase 2 banners of Honkai: Star Rail 2.0. Sparkle is a support hero who follows the Path of the Harmony, thus making her a buffer.
In combat, Sparkle uses the Quantum element. Her most notable ability is to increase the team’s maximum Skill Points and restore them during the fight. This will make her a valuable asset for comps that consume a lot of Skill Points, such as those that have Dan Heng - Imbibitor Lunae within them.

Although Don't Nod is most well-known for the Life Is Strange series of character-driven adventure games, the developer has sometimes broken away from that dialogue and puzzle-driven model. Harmony: The Fall of Reverie's impressive visual novel inspiration is one such example, while Vampyr's horror-tinged action RPG remains one of the best vampire games you can play. The latest game to show Don't Nod's ambitious side is Banishers: Ghosts Of New Eden.
Set in the late 1600s, Banishers: Ghosts Of New Eden tells the story of Antea and Red, a pair of spirit-hunting Banishers who have taken on the duty of ridding a New England colony of a terrible curse. However, after Antea is killed and becomes a ghost, she and Red must both try and finish the job they have and find a solution for Antea's death.

The Baker. Mendel. Rabbi. Three iconic roles created by beloved stage veteran Chip Zien. The last of those three comes from “Harmony,” the new musical from Barry Manilow and Bruce Sussman, which played its final performance on February 4. But closing notices be damned; Zien is giving the performance of his life in this juicy role. The actor somehow missed out on Tony nominations for those other classic characters, but after a Broadway career that has spanned five decades, voters simply mustn’t pass up the chance to give this actor his very first Tony nomination.
Zien first came to prominence for originating the role of The Baker in Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s “Into the Woods” in 1987. Though that classic musical received 10 Tony nominations (including a lead actress victory for his co-star Joanna Gleason as the Baker’s Wife), Zien was not one of them. This was the start...
