Heavy on the Story, Light on Horror

Recently, I watched a little-known Thai horror movie, Take Me Home. The film was directed by Khom Kongkiat Khomsiri and released on the big screen in 2016. It is currently possible to buy and watch this movie on Amazon with English subtitles, but unfortunately, there is no official dubbing in other languages.

The plot revolves around a young man, Tan, who lost his memory a few years after the car accident. He has worked all those years in the hospital, and each night, he unsuccessfully tries to find his family, but some unknown supernatural forces show him an article about his father, an architect who had committed suicide in their mansion. Tan decides to find the truth about what had happened to his family and heads home, where he finds out that he has a twin named Tubtim. She lives in that house with her husband, stepchildren, and servant. After a short while, Tan realizes that there is something wrong with all the villa residents and that they are all cursed, so he decides to escape. He commits a few unsuccessful tries and understands that the only way to stay alive is to break the curse.

The camera work and film score are quite impressive. As a viewer, you are immersed in the story, and the suspense grows throughout. The acting was pretty good, but it was hard to believe the actors in a few scenes here and there. Worth a separate mention is an exorcism scene involving a monk, which is by far the scariest in the movie. The special effects are also pretty good for such a small-budget film.

Finally, I was not fully impressed by Take Me Home because it was not as scary as I expected from an Asian horror movie, even though the story and writing are excellent. Also, the acting could have been better, in my opinion. I would still recommend watching it to all horror fans!

Thai Horror underrated with lots of hidden gems!

And this is another great horror.

I watch this yesterday on Tubi. I had added it to my watch list because the poster looked interesting. Hahaha I do that a lot.

Without spoiling, it's about a man who searching for his family with no identity. When he finds, what could be his family he is disturbed to see strange happening around.

In a series of disturbing sequences we see him trying to leave and being prevented.

Although it can get confusing, it is always scary and entertaining. There are many moments that are wtf and quite genius. At least for me.

The ending as it all comes together is so lovely, heartbreaking, happy, sad, and wonderful. If you you are close to any member of your family, the ending will make you smile and almost cry. This is good horror film. Its not overly bloody but it's very creepy.
