The Swiss/French “Dog on Trial” is set to disrupt, move and entertain the Croisette from what is revealed in a first clip from sales outfit MK2 Films, exclusively shared with Variety.
The film world premieres at Cannes Un Certain Regard May 19.
Writer/actor-turned-director Laetitia Dosch, who delivered what Variety reviewer Peter Debruge called a ‘blazing-wildfire performance’ in the 2017 Camera d’or winner “Jeune Femme”, is herself taking a chance this year on the coveted award. Meanwhile Cosmos the Dog (aka Kodi in the film) will battle for the leather dog collar Palme Dog win.
As the main protagonist Alice, Dosch wears an attorney’s gown to defend the four-legged Cosmos, accused of multiple bite attacks. Known for taking up lost causes, she will rise to the challenge, confront the legal system and advocate both for animal rights and women’s rights.

For his The Power of the Dog role of Phil Burbank—a hyper-masculine, repressed rancher in Montana— Benedict Cumberbatch went to ‘dude school’ to learn such old world cowboy skills as roping, taxidermy and even banjo playing. It was vital to him that he deeply embody the world of Thomas Savage’s 1967 based-on-truth novel, brought to the screen by writer-director Jane Campion. When Phil’s brother George (Jesse Plemons) marries Rose (Kirsten Dunst), Phil torments Rose and her son Peter (Kodi Smit-McPhee), but Phil finds himself drawn to the young boy, forming a relationship that ultimately results in his downfall.
Deadline: The Power of the Dog got 12 Oscar nominations, including your own individual one. That has to feel pretty good.
Benedict Cumberbatch: It’s just insane, and it’s wonderful. It’s such an amazing validation of what I first saw. Once I took the blinkers off of the...

Over the course of the last six weeks, we had been waiting for a new Captain America to step up and take the mantle (along with the shield). The Falcon and the Winter Soldier took a deep dive into all the political ideologies, principles, and history associated with the superhero figure of Captain America.
As that shield was passed on from one person to another, representing a conflicted legacy of both Captain America and the ideas Steve Rogers stood for, the penultimate episode of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier eventually saw Sam Wilson finally realizing why it's necessary for him to become the man Steve wanted him to be.
Finally, the series finale introduced Sam Wilson flying in new colors, with his wings fitted to hold the shield at his back. Not just that, upon being asked Who are you?, Sam confidently replies, I am Captain America. But was that enough?...

Marvel always knows how to go out with a bang, but The Falcon and The Winter Soldier Season 1 Episode 6 brings it to the next level.
"One World, One People" demonstrates the extremes Karli is willing to go to for her cause, even if the Flag Smashers do not always agree.
But it is too late for them to stop Karli. Now, it is up to Sam, Bucky, Sharon, and even Walker, to stop her.
One of the biggest plot twists involves Sharon Carter, as we cannot for the life of us figure out which side she is supposed to be on. We discover she was the Power Broker all along, and yet, she fights alongside Sam and Bucky to stop Karli.
And the mid-credits scene leaves us more confused than ever. Sharon gratefully accepts the government's pardon and returns to her position as Agent Carter, only to use it...

A review of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier finale, “One World, One People,” coming up just as soon as I save people a lot of redacting and a lot of shredding…
For its first five episodes, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier kept hovering around mediocrity. Sometimes, like Sam’s conversation with Isaiah last week, it was much better than that. At others, like those forgettable (save for Zemo) middle chapters, it was a bit worse. But the series as a whole seemed fine: less audacious than WandaVision, but...

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier Episode 6
Last week’s episode of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier had a weird feel to it. It was almost like a season finale where there was still more story left, but that would be next year’s problem. It was relaxed, it took its time, and it felt incredibly coherent. Then they got to the cliffhanger, including the mid-credits scene, and it left everyone wanting an action-packed final episode. Well, we got it with The Falcon and the Winter Soldier episode 6, “One World, One People.”
Yes, the finale has plenty of action and it does give us some closure, but it’s also a big mess. While I didn’t come out of it hating the episode or the show, but it just didn’t sit right.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier‘s finale staged a final showdown with Karli and the Flag Smashers, before teasing “weird” things ahead in the MCU (as well as a new title for any possible Season 2).
The episode “One World, One People” picked up right where last week left off, with the Grc’s meeting/vote on global resettlement sent into turmoil by the Flag Smashers. This week on The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, an enigmatic character from the Marvel comics — one that reportedly was to debut in the delayed Black Widow movie — was given a face. And a very familiar one, at that.

This article contains The Falcon And The Winter Soldier spoilers.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier has its fair share of issues: The bizarrely uneven pacing, the mixed messages about capitalism and propaganda, the fact that Flag Smashers is literally the stupidest name for a villain supergroup in history even if they do exist in the comics. But like WandaVision before it, the series truly excels at giving multiple sidelined Marvel Cinematic Universe characters a chance to finally step forward into their own stories.
In just three episodes of this Disney+ series, we’ve already seen more acknowledgment of Sam’s struggle as a Black superhero than we have in any other MCU property. We’ve watched Bucky Barnes – arguably the franchise’s most tortured, damaged soul – seek help for his mental health struggles, try to facilitate restoration for his former victims, and bring justice to those he worked for as the villainous Winter Soldier.

[Editor’s Note: The following review contains spoilers for “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” Episode 2, “The Star-Spangled Man.”]
Finally! After the table setting of the premiere, viewers simply had to wait seven minutes and 25 seconds into the second episode of Disney+’s “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” to see its titular heroes reunite… and immediately begin bickering like a sitcom couple. James Buchanan “Bucky” Barnes (Sebastian Stan) and Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) have long been the most consistent comedic duo in the MCU, and this episode showcased not only the obvious chemistry they have whilst bantering, but the potential emotional depths they might mine together over the course of the series.
So, what’s the inciting event that brings them together? Well, it’s the reappearance of Steve Rogers’ Vibranium Shield in the arms of a new Captain America, John Walker (Wyatt Russell). That’s right, Cap is Back (as the posters plastered all over the Air...

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier Episode 2
The first episode of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier started off with a fun action sequence to get it out of the way so it could move on to all the dread and depression. Even with the introduction of the Flag-Smashers as a threat, it has nothing on the emotional gut punch of Bucky trying to live with the horrors of his actions under Hydra’s control. Similarly, the first episode ended with Sam Wilson feeling incredibly betrayed to find out that the United States government was not content with leaving Captain America’s shield in a museum as promised. Instead, they wanted to hand it off to a new Captain America that they – and not Steve Rogers – had handpicked.

Get your wallets ready, PlayStation 4 owners: Sony’s latest sale for all owners of its soon-to-be-retired console is filled to bursting point with more games than you could possibly ever finish in a single lifetime. Okay, so there’s some obvious hyperbole there, but it’s certainly no exaggeration to say gamers are being spoiled for choice this time around, and thanks to some extremely competitive price points, there should be something here for all folks, regardless of budget.

America's Got Talent crowned a new champion on Wednesday, Sept. 18. Season 14 ended with singer Kodi Lee winning the reality competition series. Did he know he was going to win it all? "Heck yeah," Kodi told E! News after the big ending. America's Got Talent judge Gabrielle Union used the coveted Golden Buzzer on Kodi after he auditioned, sending him through to the live rounds earlier this summer. "Kodi, literally changed the world. For so many families who fight day in and day out for resources and opportunities to give all of our kids shots at winning in life," Union told E! News' Justin Sylvester after the finale. "He's changed everything." Kodi, who is...

Kodi Lee was named the winner of “America’s Got Talent” 2019 on Wednesday’s finals results show. Kodi, who is both blind and autistic, is the seventh singer to claim the “Agt” championship in the 14-year history of the show. He joins these six crooners who’ve all won the $1 million grand prize: Bianca Ryan (2006), Neal E. Boyd (2008), Kevin Skinner (2009), Michael Grimm (2010), Landau Eugene Murphy Jr. (2011) and Grace VanderWaal (2016).

On Wednesday’s “Agt” finals results show, singer Kodi Lee became the fifth male singer to win “America’s Got Talent,” joining the late Neal E. Boyd (Season 3), Kevin Skinner (Season 4), Michael Grimm (Season 5) and Landau Eugene Murphy Jr. (Season 6). Kodi collects a $1 million grand prize and gets a chance to headline at a Las Vegas casino.
A group variety act has never won “Agt,” although Detroit Youth Choir came tantalizing close this year. Perhaps it was their age that worked against them. Two of the last three “America’s Got Talent” winners have been youngsters. The 2017 “Agt” champion was 12-year-old singing ventriloquist Darci Lynne Farmer. And songwriter/ukeleleist Grace VanderWaal was also 12 when she won in 2016.
Farmer was the third ventriloquist to claim victory, following in the path of Season 2’s Terry Fator, who appeared on the Season 12 finale alongside Farmer, and Season 10’s Paul Zerdin. She was also...

“America’s Got Talent” viewers are heartbroken. Even though their front-runner to win Season 14, blind autistic singer Kodi Lee, wound up taking home the $1 million prize during Wednesday’s finale, things didn’t go according to plan for Indian dance crew V.Unbeatable. The inspirational acrobatic act was predicted to be the runners-up to Kodi, but instead ended up coming in fourth place. Upon hearing the bad news, the dancers broke down in tears on the Dolby Theatre stage, and that’s when judge Julianne Hough stepped in to console them (watch above).

Singer Kodi Lee won “Agt” over choral group Detroit Youth Choir in one of the closest votes ever when the final results were revealed on Wednesday’s episode. Our “America’s Got Talent” winner predictions had expected this to be a tight race between Kodi and Emanne Beasha, the little girl with the big voice. But she did not even make the top 5.
That 10-year-old opera singer Emanne Beasha lost “Agt” was a shock. Perhaps “America’s Got Talent” viewers did not want another young girl to win again so soon after the back-to-back wins by two 12-year olds in 2017 (ventriloquist Darci Lynne Farmer) and 2016 (singer Grace VanderWaal).
Following Kodi Lee in first place was host Terry Crews’ Golden Buzzer act Detroit Youth Chori, third-place finisher comedian Ryan Niemiller, tumblers V. Unbeatable in fourth, and quartet Voices of Service rounding out the top five.

America’s certainly got talent — this summer, mostly in the form of Kodi Lee. The singer-songwriter beat the other nine finalists (and a whole bunch more before that) to be crowned the 2019 “America’s Got Talent” champion.
The second part of NBC’s two-hour Season 14 finale aired Wednesday night, when Lee was named the winner. The Detroit Youth Choir was the runner-up.
Lee, who is blind and autistic, wowed the judges all season long. During the finale, he teamed up with pop star Leona Lewis, who won “The X Factor U.K.” in 2006.
Other guests performers during the finale included Macklemore, reggaeton star Ozuna, pianist Lang Lang, Billy Ray Cyrus, and Cher.
Magician Shin Lim won the million-dollar prize and a Las Vegas residency last summer.

Kodi Lee may regret being the “America’s Got Talent” frontrunner from the very start of season 14. With just hours left before he performs in the “Agt” final on Tuesday September 17, this singing sensation has seen his lead over child prodigy Emanne Beasha shrink. The little girl with a grown-up voice has pulled perilously close to him in our exclusive poll of “America’s Got Talent” viewers.
Beasha and Lee have never faced off against each other. Each got a Golden Buzzer which sent them straight to the quarterfinals. Lee was the highlight of the first quarterfinal while Beasha shone on the third show. They then appeared on separate semifinals. Lee was the stand-out act on the first semifinal on Sept. 3 while Beasha stole the show on the Sept. 10 second semifinal. Tuesday’s live final on NBC will bring us the much-anticipated title bout of Kodi Lee vs. Emanne Beasha.

The Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment — the five major studios plus Netflix and Amazon — disclosed that it had shuttered Vader and seized its assets through a sealed court proceeding in Canada.
The organization has undertaken similar actions in the U.S. against several other pirate providers that use open-source Kodi software, such as Dragon Box and Tickbox. Such providers sell hardware devices that can be loaded with Kodi “add-ons,” which offer a sweeping array of premium movies, TV shows, and live TV programming at heavily discounted prices, all without consent from copyright holders.
