The Swiss/French “Dog on Trial” is set to disrupt, move and entertain the Croisette from what is revealed in a first clip from sales outfit MK2 Films, exclusively shared with Variety.

The film world premieres at Cannes Un Certain Regard May 19.

Writer/actor-turned-director Laetitia Dosch, who delivered what Variety reviewer Peter Debruge called a ‘blazing-wildfire performance’ in the 2017 Camera d’or winner “Jeune Femme”, is herself taking a chance this year on the coveted award. Meanwhile Cosmos the Dog (aka Kodi in the film) will battle for the leather dog collar Palme Dog win.

As the main protagonist Alice, Dosch wears an attorney’s gown to defend the four-legged Cosmos, accused of multiple bite attacks. Known for taking up lost causes, she will rise to the challenge, confront the legal system and advocate both for animal rights and women’s rights.

The Season 17 finale of “America’s Got Talent” aired Wednesday night on NBC, and viewers are mostly happy with the outcome. Universal animation Sing 2 is the latest challenger to the six-week consecutive run atop the UK-Ireland box office chart of Sony behemoth Spider-Man: No Way Home this weekend.

Over the course of the last six weeks, we had been waiting for a new Captain America to step up and take the mantle (along with the shield). As that shield was passed on from one person to another, representing a conflicted legacy of both Captain America and the ideas Steve Rogers stood for, the penultimate episode of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier eventually saw Sam Wilson finally realizing why it's necessary for him to become the man Steve wanted him to be.

Finally, the series finale introduced Sam Wilson flying in new colors, with his wings fitted to hold the shield at his back. Not just that, upon being asked Who are you?, Sam confidently replies, I am Captain America. But was that enough?...

Last week’s episode of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier had a weird feel to it. It was almost like a season finale where there was still more story left, but that would be next year’s problem. It was relaxed, it took its time, and it felt incredibly coherent. Then they got to the cliffhanger, including the mid-credits scene, and it left everyone wanting an action-packed final episode. Well, we got it with The Falcon and the Winter Soldier episode 6, “One World, One People.”

Yes, the finale has plenty of action and it does give us some closure, but it’s also a big mess. While I didn’t come out of it hating the episode or the show, but it just didn’t sit right.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier has its fair share of issues: The bizarrely uneven pacing, the mixed messages about capitalism and propaganda, the fact that Flag Smashers is literally the stupidest name for a villain supergroup in history even if they do exist in the comics. But like WandaVision before it, the series truly excels at giving multiple sidelined Marvel Cinematic Universe characters a chance to finally step forward into their own stories.

In just three episodes of this Disney+ series, we’ve already seen more acknowledgment of Sam’s struggle as a Black superhero than we have in any other MCU property. We’ve watched Bucky Barnes – arguably the franchise’s most tortured, damaged soul – seek help for his mental health struggles, try to facilitate restoration for his former victims, and bring justice to those he worked for as the villainous Winter Soldier.

The first episode of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier started off with a fun action sequence to get it out of the way so it could move on to all the dread and depression. Even with the introduction of the Flag-Smashers as a threat, it has nothing on the emotional gut punch of Bucky trying to live with the horrors of his actions under Hydra’s control. Similarly, the first episode ended with Sam Wilson feeling incredibly betrayed to find out that the United States government was not content with leaving Captain America’s shield in a museum as promised. Kodi Lee was named the winner of “America’s Got Talent” 2019 on Wednesday’s finals results show. Kodi, who is both blind and autistic, is the seventh singer to claim the “Agt” championship in the 14-year history of the show. He joins these six crooners who’ve all won the $1 million grand prize: Bianca Ryan (2006), Neal E. Boyd (2008), Kevin Skinner (2009), Michael Grimm (2010), Landau Eugene Murphy Jr. (2011) and Grace VanderWaal (2016).

A group variety act has never won “Agt,” although Detroit Youth Choir came tantalizing close this year. Perhaps it was their age that worked against them. Two of the last three “America’s Got Talent” winners have been youngsters. The 2017 “Agt” champion was 12-year-old singing ventriloquist Darci Lynne Farmer. Our “America’s Got Talent” winner predictions had expected this to be a tight race between Kodi and Emanne Beasha, the little girl with the big voice. But she did not even make the top 5.

America’s certainly got talent — this summer, mostly in the form of Kodi Lee. The singer-songwriter beat the other nine finalists (and a whole bunch more before that) to be crowned the 2019 “America’s Got Talent” champion.

The second part of NBC’s two-hour Season 14 finale aired Wednesday night, when Lee was named the winner. The Detroit Youth Choir was the runner-up.

Lee, who is blind and autistic, wowed the judges all season long. During the finale, he teamed up with pop star Leona Lewis, who won “The X Factor U.K.” in 2006.

Other guests performers during the finale included Macklemore, reggaeton star Ozuna, pianist Lang Lang, Billy Ray Cyrus, and Cher.

Magician Shin Lim won the million-dollar prize and a Las Vegas residency last summer.

Kodi Lee may regret being the “America’s Got Talent” frontrunner from the very start of season 14. With just hours left before he performs in the “Agt” final on Tuesday September 17, this singing sensation has seen his lead over child prodigy Emanne Beasha shrink. The little girl with a grown-up voice has pulled perilously close to him in our exclusive poll of “America’s Got Talent” viewers.

Beasha and Lee have never faced off against each other. Each got a Golden Buzzer which sent them straight to the quarterfinals. Lee was the highlight of the first quarterfinal while Beasha shone on the third show. They then appeared on separate semifinals. Lee was the stand-out act on the first semifinal on Sept. 3 while Beasha stole the show on the Sept. 10 second semifinal. Tuesday’s live final on NBC will bring us the much-anticipated title bout of Kodi Lee vs. Emanne Beasha.
