Original X-Files creator Chris Carter approves Ryan Coogler's reboot, citing the director's "good ideas" and diverse cast plans. Coogler's X-Files reboot announced in 2023, but has no release date. Ryan Coogler’s potential reboot of The X-Files gets the approval from the show’s original creator. Created by Chris Carter, The X-Files was a sci-fi series that ran for 11 seasons across 1993–2018. Coogler is an acclaimed director behind films such as Fruitvale Station, Creed, and Black Panther.
Speaking with TheWrap, Carter kindly voices his approval of the Coogler adaptation of the show. Carter was clear that he would not be involved in the project, and that Disney is thus “free to do with it what they believe.” However, the creator said that Coogler has “some good ideas” about what to do with the X-Files reboot.
