Principal photography is scheduled to start in Alabama this summer.

Guy Pearce will star as a small-town marshal in the action thriller Disturbing The Peace, which Voltage Pictures is introducing to buyers in Cannes.

Principal photography is scheduled to start in Alabama this summer on the story of a law officer and former Texas Ranger haunted by a tragic shooting who must pick up a gun again when a biker gang invades his small town. Kelly Greyson co-stars.

York Shackleton directs from an original script by Chuck Hustmyre. Daniel Grodnik and Mary Aloe are producing for Grodnik/Aloe Productions along with Cindy Bond and Simon Swart.

Netflix has released a list of all of the movies and TV shows that are coming to Netflix in the month of October along with the release dates of them. They've got some good stuff coming including some Netflix originals that I'm excited about seeing including Stranger Things Season 2, Mindhunters, 1922 and more.

Netflix has announced the list of films that will be available to stream in June. The list includes new never-before-seen original films, as well as documentaries, comedies, animated titles and some classic movies.

1. “The Sixth Sense” (available June 1)

M. Night Shyamalan’s 1999 classic tells the story of a boy who communicates with spirits and the psychologist who tries to help him. The film stars Bruce Willis and Haley Joel Osment.

2. “Saving Banksy” (available June 2)

The documentary follows a New York-based art collector as he attempts to save the street work of graffiti artist Banksy. The film features interviews with some of the top names in the street art and graffiti world, including Ben Eine, Risk, Revok, Niels “Shoe” Meulman, Blek Le Rat, Anthony Lister, Doze Green, Hera, and Glen E. Friedman.

3. “Shimmer Lake” (available June 9)

The Netflix original drama follows a local sheriff as he attempts to solve the mystery...

11th Gasparilla International Film Festival to Screen 35 Features Including J.K. Simmons’ ‘All Nighter’“All Nighter”

The 11th edition of Tampa’s most prominent film event, Suncoast Credit Union’s Gasparilla International Film Festival (Giff), will take place March 2-March 9, 2017 at the Tampa Theater and AMC Centro Ybor. Gavin Wiesen’s “All Nighter,” starring Academy Award-winner J. K. Simmons will have its World Premiere as part of the festival.

A total of 35 films and over 70 shorts will screen over eight days and will include international and regional premieres of narrative features, documentaries and short films from around the world. In addition to the film program, Giff will also feature master classes and panel discussions.

The title sponsor, Suncoast Credit Union, has been committed to the festival for three consecutive years with the goal of bringing quality entertainment and enrichment to the community. The Suncoast Credit Union also sponsors the Family Fun...

Suncoast Credit Union Gasparilla International Film Festival (Giff) announced its official selection for the annual event held at the Tampa Theater and AMC Centro Ybor in Tampa, Florida, from March 2-March 9.

The festival will host the world premiere for All Nighter starring Academy Award winner J.K. Simmons and directed by Gavin Wiesen.

There will be 35 films and over 70 shorts, in which it will host international and regional premieres of narrative features, documentaries and short films around the world.

Burn Your Maps: A nine-year-old boy, grieving with his parents over the recent loss of his baby sister, becomes obsessed with the idea that he’s a Mongolian goat herder who belongs back home in his small village in Mongolia. The fall specialized season (with attached awards campaigns) is going into high gear. This weekend brings the release of Amazon Studios Sundance pickup “Manchester by the Sea” (Roadside Attractions), one of the year’s most anticipated films, to a strong initial response in its first two cities. Also, Focus Features released buzzy festival hit “Nocturnal Animals” somewhat wider to enough interest to suggest ongoing adult audiences ahead.

None of these grosses challenge 2016’s top limited releases, though, consistent with what has been a decline in overall specialty numbers this year. But they join “Moonlight” and “Loving” among successful launches that perform well enough to keep their awards chances alive along with their commercial prospects.

This weekend saw Sony release two awards hopefuls; their directors have each received Oscar nominations for Best Foreign Language Film, and produced international blockbusters. With that kind of buildup, it’s unsurprising that both Ang Lee’s “Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk” and Paul Verhoeven’s “Elle” had strong openings. Both are welcome in a rebounding specialized world, where “Moonlight” is finding wider audiences and “Loving” continues to show promise.

Ang Lee’s latest effort came with expectations of high-end performance, and its two initial dates showed major strength. The Lincoln Square Theater in New York and Arclight Hollywood in Los Angeles presented the story of an Iraq war veteran’s return home (based on an acclaimed 2003 novel) in the intended 4K 3D 120 fps format, and audiences responded.

Disney continued its record-breaking year this weekend as 2016 became the studio's best year at the domestic box office ever. Contributing to that success, of course, is the studio's latest Marvel Studios release, Doctor Strange, which led the weekend box office for the second week in a row, contributing to a weekend in which the top twelve was up 56% compared to the same weekend last year. The weekend's success was a combination of strong holdovers such as Strange and fellow sophomore features Trolls and Hacksaw Ridge, along with newcomers including Arrival and Almost Christmas, all of which helped the top twelve combine for over $150 million. Dropping only 49% in its second weekend, Disney and Marvel's Doctor Strange delivered an impressive $43 million in its second weekend as the film's domestic gross climbs to over $153 million in just ten days of release. A total of 145 feature documentaries were submitted to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for consideration for the 89th Academy Awards.

Out of those films the members of the Academy’s documentary branch will select a shortlist of 15 features that will be announced in December, and the five nominations will be announced on January 24.

Among the titles included in the list are Ava DuVernay’s “13th,” the Sundance Documentary Grand Jury Prize winner “Weiner” by Josh Kriegman and Elyse Steinberg, Raoul Peck’s Toronto Film Festival Audience Award winner “I Am Not Your Negro,” the visually stunning “Voyage of Time: The Imax Experience” by Terrence Malik and Otto Bell’s “The Eagle Huntress.”

The Hamptons International Film Festival has given is Best Narrative Feature award to Bulgarian-Greek drama Glory (Slava) (pictured), directed by Kristina Grozeva and Petar Valchanov and its Best Documentary Feature award to Us entry The Eagle Huntress, directed by Otto Bell.

French-Qatari crime story Divines, from Houda Benyamina, and Denmark’s Those Who Jump, from Estephan Wagner, Moritz Siebert and Abou Bakar Sidibé got honourable mentions in, respectively, the narrative feature and documentary feature categories.

The festival’s Tangerine Entertainment Juice Fund Award, which honours an outstanding female narrative filmmakers, went to Wakefield, directed by Robin Swicord.

Voltage Pictures CEO Nicolas Chartier announced on Wednesday that the company has entered into an exclusive arrangement with Alissa Phillips to make features, TV series and mini-series.

Phillips will work alongside the Voltage production team of partner and president of Voltage Productions Craig Flores, Voltage Pictures president of production Zev Foreman, and senior vice-president Dom Rustam.

Prior to Voltage Phillips was a producer with Michael De Luca where she produced Moneyball, Dracula Untold and Butter. She is serving as executive producer on the Focus Features film On The Brinks.

“We are incredibly excited to have Alissa work with us. Her studio experience and multi layered production experience will be a great compliment to our existing team,” said Chartier (pictured).
