Colleen Ballinger is returning to YouTube months after she was accused of racist and inappropriate behavior.
The 36-year-old content creator, best known for her alter ego Miranda Sings, was accused of maintaining exploitative relationships and grooming her young fans in June. At the time, she responded by uploading a 10-minute song about the allegations.
A report followed that accused her of being racist on the set of her Netflix show Haters Back Off. A video from a prior performance also resurfaced, prompting questions about if she was wearing blackface.
Amid the backlash, Colleen‘s tour dates were cancelled. However, she didn’t issue another public response. That changed on Saturday (November 18), when she returned to YouTube with a new vlog and an extended introduction.
In it, she opened up about everything from the song she posted to what she has been up to in between videos. Colleen also addressed her...

Controversy surrounding “Miranda Sings” YouTuber Colleen Ballinger continues to grow, and now her podcasting partner and longtime friend is cutting ties with her.
Ballinger has been engulfed in scandal since allegations surfaced that she “groomed” a young fan, with claims that she’d “formed an inappropriate personal friendship with him while he was between the ages of 13 and 16.”
More recently, further accusations surfaced, claiming that Ballinger shared nude photos of fellow YouTuber Trisha Paytas, taken from the latter’s OnlyFans.

Last week, Colleen Ballinger returned to YouTube, with the “Miranda Sings” creator performing a song addressed at allegations that she “groomed” an underage fan.
Now, more allegations are being lodged against Ballinger — by her ex-husband and a writer on her Netflix series, “Haters Back Off!”.
Joshua David Evans — who married Ballinger in July 2015, and split in September 2016 — took to Twitter to claim that Ballinger “gaslit” her fans and him.
“Anyone feeling hurt & gaslit right now, my message to you is this: Your experiences were real. The proof is there. Your trauma should be taken seriously. The proof is there. Your anger is justified. The proof is there. You deserve better. Take your power back. Sending you love,” Evans tweeted.

YouTube star Colleen Ballinger, the creator of sketch character Miranda Sings, is speaking out for the first time after fans accused the creator of spending years using her power and fame to engage in toxic parasocial relationships with underage fans. But not in a statement. Instead, in true millennial cringe fashion, Ballinger delivered her message through a 10-minute YouTube ukulele song, leaving behind probably the only time a notes app apology would have been preferable.

Colleen Ballinger has two little ones on the way. The YouTube personality, who created her theater-obsessed alter-ego Miranda Sings in 2008 and later played her in the 2016 Netflix series Haters Back Off!, took to her YouTube channel on May 21 to announce that she is pregnant with twins. The news comes several months after she shared with fans that she had a miscarriage earlier this year. The discovery, Colleen told fans, came after she woke up to unexpected bleeding—which was one of the signs of her miscarriage. "It really freaked me out and I was confident that it was happening again," the content creator explained. Colleen, who shares her...

Netflix has produced many hit TV shows over the past seven years, ever since they started pumping out their own original programming. However, the streaming service has developed a reputation for not letting its series go on for too long. Fans know to be wary of getting attached to their favorite new Netflix shows as they could be unceremoniously cancelled after one or two seasons.
Earlier today, for instance, Hilary Swank vehicle Away was given the chop by the company after just a single outing. This makes it the 56th original series that Netflix has cancelled. That number only includes shows that were original to the platform and produced in-house, so it doesn’t count pick-ups like Lucifer, for example. Those series luckily enough to end on the creators’ own terms, such as House of Cards, are likewise not included. Shows that were axed by Netflix before being picked up elsewhere,...

“If you asked me 10 years ago, I would have said, ‘Yes, of course.’ That was my dream, to be on Broadway. But now I don’t think I would,” Colleen Ballinger (rhymes with Jolene) told IndieWire in a recent interview. “I love what I’m doing so much.”
What she’s doing is playing Miranda Sings, a character she created for her wildly popular YouTube channel, the first of its kind to make the jump to Netflix with “Haters Back Off,” which explores Miranda’s home life. It follows Miranda on her quest for Internet stardom, shrieking out “Defying Gravity” and uploading it with the title “My Fist Video,” (typo included). The only problem is, she can’t sing (though Ballinger can, and well.) She howls and mewls flatly and loudly, sporting her signature shade of glossy red lipstick far beyond the contours of her lips. Haters Back Off has been on Netflix for a little over a week now and I still haven't decided whether or not I'm going to watch it. The trailer had me on the fence, and I can't say this latest video has gotten me off the post yet. I might just have to suck it up and dive in tonight when my wife inevitably gets bored of the Black Mirror marathon.
Maybe the new video, in which character Miranda answers fan questions, will sway you? ...

While promoting her new Netflix series, Haters Back Off, Colleen Ballinger stopped by Jimmy Fallon this weekend to transform into her famous character,Miranda Sings, and give Jimmy Miranda's hosting tips, since, according to Miranda, he's not 'a very good host.' Miranda was even kind enough to walk Fallon through a simulation of how he should talk to guests, as well as how he should introduce movie and TV show clips.

Haters Back Off has been one of the most highly-anticipated mainstream projects from a digital star. And the Netflix series, which delves into the quirky backstory of Colleen Ballinger’s brilliant character invention, Miranda Sings, arrived on the streaming service yesterday with much aplomb -- and to the confusion and delight of many critics.
By some accounts, translating the YouTube video format into a more traditional TV series isn’t necessarily seamless. “Miranda’s deluded caterwauling is one thing in short videos,” writes The New York Times in its review of the series. “Extended to half-hour episodes [there are eight], it makes for a lot of concentrated sourness.” CNN critic Brian Lowry agrees, comparing Haters Back Off to a Saturday Night Live sketch that’s been stretched to potentially unwarranted lengths -- though he does concede that the series illustrates “the lingering if narrowing gap between YouTube and more traditional platforms.”

This has been a rocky year for YouTube comedian Colleen Ballinger, but on Oct. 14, she’s about to reach a very exciting milestone — her first Netflix series, Haters Back Off, starts streaming.
The show will follow Ballinger’s signature character, Miranda Sings — a wildly untalented fictional singer who believes she is extraordinary — as she navigates her daily life.
Here are the five Miranda Sings videos that made us fall in love with Ballinger’s Crocs-obsessed alter ego.

The paths to stardom today are very, very different from what they were only a few short years ago, and so is the definition of a TV series. A new Netflix original series, Haters Back Off, puts both those ideas on display, as it gives us a comedic look at an unconventional celebrity in a non-traditional TV format.
The series is centered on Miranda Sings, a character developed by actress Colleen Ballinger for a series of YouTube videos way back in 2008. The narcissistic young woman with delusions of grandeur is a spoof of internet stardom that, ironically, achieved internet stardom.

I watched this trailer fifteen minutes ago and I'm still unsure if it's really bad or really good. I think it's bad in the sense that it made me ridiculously uncomfortable, but I'm assuming that's what makes it good? Haters Back Off seems to take the SNL skit Superstar and revamp it for a new generation. You have a painfully unaware weird girl (Colleen Ballinger) who looks to be famous with the help of her uncle (Steve Little) via viral videos. We also see her mother (Angela Kinsey) who seems to be aware that her daughter is a little out there. Will she find fame? Probably.
I still can't get over how this trailer made me feel. I wanted to crawl out of my skin I felt so weird! Then again, that's how a bulk of YouTube personalities act, so once again I'm conflicted. The show premieres on October 14th.

Colleen Ballinger-Evans, who originated the character on YouTube, announced the release date at VidCon earlier this summer, noting that the series would describe how Miranda -- a red lipstick-loving delusional diva -- came to be, featuring appearances by her mother (played by Angela Kinsey), best friend (Erik Stocklin), and uncle (Steve Little).
And now, we have our first look at the series, with a collection of production stills unveiled by Ballinger-Evans on social media.

Screaming tweens. Boy bands singing Drake. People talking to video cameras. VidCon, the annual convention for all things YouTube, vlogging, and digital media, is certainly a sight to behold. The term “content creator” is rarely thrown around quite so often as it was in the hallways of the Anaheim Convention Center last weekend. If one thing is certain, digital culture is a lot more advanced than it was a few years ago. What can we surmise from VidCon about the future of the industry that has better numbers than the views on “David After Dentist?” This is real life for the digital age.
The Freshmen Online Stars Are All Grown Up
Grace Helbig, Jenna Marbles, and Hannah Hart each began vlogging in 2008, 2010, and 2011, respectively. In Internet years, they’re ancient. Now, they’re credited with shaping the style and creating a language for a form of digital media that is now over ten years old.

During a performance on the mainstage at VidCon, Colleen Ballinger-Evans -- the creator of one of YouTube’s most beloved characters, Miranda Sings -- announced that an original Netflix series starring the delusional diva is slated to premiere globally on October 14.
Titled Haters Back Off, the eight-episode series is “all about my life and how I came to be,” raps Sings in a video announcing the premiere date -- which she also shared for the first time at VidCon. At the event, Sings introduced fans to two of her co-stars: Erik Stocklin, who plays Miranda’s best friend, and Steve Little, who plays her uncle.

Vine heartthrob Cameron Dallas just landed his own reality show on Netflix. Dallas marks the second online influencer to be tapped to headline a series by the streaming giant following Haters Back Off, a scripted comedy starring Miranda Sings -- the ridiculous alter ego of YouTube star Colleen Ballinger-Evans.
While little is known about Dallas’ unscripted project, the show will reportedly follow him and friends and family as he seeks to catapult his online fame “to the next level,” according to The Hollywood Reporter. It will also examine “the stark contrast between his online persona and who he is behind the selfies.” Dallas, who teased the project on Twitter, also said he had just dyed his hair aqua blue and was en route to a pole dancing class -- though it is unclear whether such exploits will be featured on the as-yet-untitled series.

The twisted universe of Miranda Sings just got a little more twisted. Colleen Evans, the YouTube mastermind behind the delusional chanteuse, just unveiled two of Miranda’s much-talked-about-but-never-before-seen family members, who are set to costar in the forthcoming scripted Netflix series Haters Back Off.
In a video on her personal channel, Evans shared that Miranda’s mother, Bethany, would be played by The Office’s Angela Kinsey. Miranda’s uncle, Jim, with whom she has an oddly-charged relationship, will be played by The Grinder’s Steve Little.
“They have been in my head for eight years,” Evans said of the characters. “You guys have been wanting to see Miranda’s mom and uncle in videos for years -- you’ve been begging for it -- and I’ve been saving them for this Netflix original series.” Following the announcement, Kinsey joined Evans for a classic YouTube collaboration in which they...

After years of hard work on YouTube, Colleen Ballinger-Evans, or as she’s better known online, Miranda Sings, is getting her own series. “Haters Back Off” will follow the character created by Ballinger-Evans as she tries in vain to convince the world of her extraordinary vocal talent—the kicker being that everyone has to suffer through Miranda’s extreme lack of skill. The personality has been a fixture on YouTube for several years, thanks to her own series as well as numerous guest appearances on other well-known channels. Netflix has picked up the series with the starlet cast as the lead and Erik Stocklin in the second role, with additional slots being filled by Branman/Brander Casting. Production is set to begin April 18 in Hollywood’s north shore, Vancouver, British Columbia. Frances McDormand and Woody Harrelson are jumping onto the aptly titled “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.” As the film’s name suggests,...
