Exclusive: Sung Kang, best known for his role as the popular ‘Han Lue’ in Universal’s billion-dollar Fast & Furious franchise, has signed with Buchwald for representation.

Kang most recently reprised his role in Fast X, continuing his journey which began on Justin Lin’s The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift when Han was believed to have died. He has reprised the role in the long-running action saga appearing in multiple installments, including Fast Five, Fast & Furious 6, and F9. The final installment of the franchise is expected to be Fast X: Part 2 which is set in Los Angeles. Kang’s participation in the film has yet to be confirmed.

Executive producers Jon Gunn and Jon Erwin have said the show’s plot line derives primarily from the first few chapters of 1st Samuel in the Bible with many of David’s Psalms included in the show. In addition to being a faithful shepherd, David expressed his adoration for God through poems and music, both of which will be featured in the series.

Fast and Furious and Riddick star Vin Diesel has his sights set on another heavy-hitting action franchise, with the actor taking to social media to tease his role in the upcoming adaptation of the classic toy game Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots. First announced back in 2021, the Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots movie will see Mattel Films team up with Universal Pictures and Vin Diesel's One Race Films for this live-action adaptation of the beloved toy, which finds players taking control of two dueling robot boxers and smashing buttons until one of their heads comes off.

Mortal Kombat director Simon McQuoid is back at the helm for the sequel Mortal Kombat 2, and while the video game adaptation wrapped production back in January of 2024 after a bumpy ride through the year of the strikes, they had to go back for some reshoots last summer. So we still don’t know when this movie is going to be released – but it is starting to take some steps forward. Back in November, we learned that Mortal Kombat 2 has been rated R for strong bloody violence and gore, and language. Now, a logo for the film has been unveiled, along with a poster featuring the character of actor Johnny Cage, played by Karl Urban. You can check those images out at the bottom of this article.

The screenplay for Mortal Kombat 2 has been written by Jeremy Slater, who was the lead writer on the Marvel / Disney+ series Moon Knight.

Fast & Furious fans who stream their favorite action-packed films on Netflix will be disappointed this month. On February 12, 2025, the streaming service will remove five movies from the franchise, making it harder to watch the full series in one place. The titles leaving Netflix include:

In the year since December 2023, eight of the Japan’s top 10 highest-grossing films were produced domestically, with only two US features – Inside Out 2 and Despicable Me 4 – making the list.

Significantly, no live-action features from outside the country made the top 10, a sign that Hollywood tentpoles are having difficulty penetrating Japan’s cinematic market.
