Last year, we learned that, forty-nine years after playing a major role in the Steven Spielberg classic Jaws (and fourteen years after making an appearance in Alexandre Aja’s Piranha 3D), Richard Dreyfuss had been cast in another film that promises to be packed with aquatic thrills, Vigilante Diaries director Christian Sesma’s Into the Deep. The film received a digital, On Demand, and limited theatrical release last Friday, and will be getting a DVD and Blu-ray release in the UK on February 3rd. To promote these releases, a clip from the film has dropped online and can be seen in the embed above. Dreyfuss got attacked while in a cage in Jaws, and this clip shows Into the Deep‘s version of a cage attack.

Lionsgate and Saban Films will unleash the alligator horror movie The Flood this summer (watch the trailer here), and the film’s official MPA rating has been handed in this week.
The Flood has been Rated “R” for…
“Violence, some gore, and language throughout.”
The action-horror movie hits Theaters, On Demand and Digital on July 14, 2023. The premise suggests a Syfy-style monster movie – alligators inside a prison – but the execution looks a lot closer to Alexandre Aja’s Crawl than anything you’d find on the Syfy network.
Think Crawl meets Assault on Precinct 13.
The Flood is directed by Brandon Slagle (Frost, The Dawn) and co-written by Chad Law (Section 8, Close Range, 6 Bullets) and Josh Ridgway (The Sector, Howlers).
In the film, “A horde of giant hungry alligators is unleashed on a group of in-transit prisoners and their guards after a massive hurricane floods Louisiana.”
Casper Van Dien (Starship Troopers,...

Alex Cord, an actor who portrayed the character codenamed Archangel in the military TV drama “Airwolf,” has died. He was 88.
Cord’s passing was confirmed to TheWrap by his publicist Linda McAlister, who said he died surrounded by friends in his home in Valley View, Texas, on Monday around 6:30 p.m. Ct.
Alex Cord, born Alexander Viespi Jr., was best known for his work on “Airwolf” alongside Jan-Michael Vincent and Ernest Borgnine. The show ran between 1984-86 for 55 episodes and was the story of a renegade pilot who goes on missions in an advanced battle helicopter. The show spawned a TV movie in 1984.
After being confined to a hospital and an iron lung in much of his youth, Cord eventually pursued a dream of becoming a professional horseman and joined a rodeo circuit at age 16. But after suffering an injury while performing at Madison Square Garden, he pivoted his...

It’s been a rough year for most of us, but in Geek Culture there have been plenty of bright spots. In the spirit of trumpeting some of the good stuff, here’s my Annual Holiday Gift Guide:
Holly Jolly: Celebrating Christmas Past In Pop Culture
Written by Mark Voger • TwoMorrows • 192 pp. • Hardcover, Full Color • Isbn-13: 978-1-60549-097-7 • $43.95
Every yuletide season I trot out my copy of The Battle For Christmas by Stephen Nissenbaum. For my money, that’s the best book out there to analyze and explain the many traditions that have shaped the way we celebrate Christmas. It’s clear to me that it’s time to make room on my coffee table this December for another impressive book. TwoMorrows newest, Holly Jolly is kind of the pop-culture counterpart to the Nissenbaum’s authoritative tome. I really enjoy Mark Voger’s writing. For example, I...

Stars: Chad Michael Collins, Chelsea Edmundson, Matthew Thompkins, Sean Patrick Flanery | Written and Directed by Josh Ridgway
Colt (Chad Michael Collins)—a gunslinging werewolf slayer from the old west—mysteriously rises from the grave, only to find that the band of werewolves that brutally murdered his wife are still running rampant generations later. Aided by a beautiful widow (Chelsea Edmundson), a skeptical town sheriff (Matthew Thompkins) and a corrupt Mayor (Sean Patrick Flanery), Colt must face off with the bloodthirsty creatures once again to save a sleepy southern town from destruction.
Let’s face it, horror westerns are Very difficult to get right. On one side there’s dross like Gallowalkers, then on the other there’s brilliant films like 2014’a Blood Moon. Though, honestly, the bad often outweighs the good in this particular genre, which is probably why High Moon decides to forgoe its Western origins and sets most...

Captain Marvel finally reveals how the McU version of Nick Fury lost his eye, a story long thought "classified."
This article contains massive Captain Marvel spoilers. We have a spoiler free review of the movie here.
While Captain Marvel is thoroughly committed to establishing Carol Danvers and her place in the McU, it’s also the closest thing to a Nick Fury origin story that Marvel Studios is ever likely to give us. Samuel L. Jackson is digitally de-aged to something roughly resembling his 1995 form to provide backup for Carol during her fish-out-of-water early moments back on Earth, and to serve as a suitably incredulous audience Pov character as someone who has yet to encounter a proper superhero, let alone one who is kind of from another planet.
Throughout the movie, we learn details about Fury’s origin. Most of it aligns quite closely with the Nick Fury of the comics.
