Following the exit of the Philippou Brothers (Talk to Me) as directors in June 2024, despite Sony reserving Mar. 20, 2026 as a release date, news surrounding the film adaptation of Street Fighter went quiet. Then, in Feb. 2025, a new director was announced — Kitao Sakurai. It was a bold and exciting update and one which has now been trampled upon with the news that Sony Pictures has completely pulled Street Fighter from its release calendar for now, removing it from that 2026 release date. Sorry, Street Fighter fans. K.O. indeed.

Only two years out from the Mortal Kombat revival, Legendary has thrown its hat in the ring of video game adaptations with its adaptation of the Street Fighter series. Not only is a live-action series currently in development, but a fully-fledged feature film is also being made with Danny and Michael Philippou as co-directors. Undisputed 5 could bring aboard many great martial arts stars for Yuri Boyka's return to the ring. The Undisputed franchise first introduced Yuri Boyka (Scott Adkins) in Isaac Florentine's Undisputed 2: Last Man Standing, with the highly formidable Mma fighter Boyka determined to prove himself worthy of the title of The Most Complete Fighter in the World. Though he was introduced as the antagonist of Undisputed 2, Boyka quickly became the Undisputed franchise's central character, returning as the protagonist of Undisputed 3: Redemption and Boyka: Undisputed.

I don't know about you but this here genre fan just can't seem to get enough Nicolas Cage. Not that the actor isn't trying my patience with a new low-budget movie coming out every week. But it's all good as the Oscar winner always ends up pulling out a surprise treat such as last year's one-two punch of Mandy and Spider-man: Into the Spiderverse. And it looks like Cage has his next cult classic in the works as today we have word he has joined the cast of Dimitri Logothetis' alien invasion, martial arts movie Jiu Jitsu.

If the quick rundown of "alien invasion, martial arts movie" wasn't enough for you, the plot goes a little something like this.

Every six years, an ancient order of expert Jiu Jitsu fighters faces a fearsome alien invader in a battle for Earth. For thousands of years, the fighters that protect Earth have played by the rules.

Machinima is teaming up with Greg Russo, who wrote the upcoming Mortal Kombat and Resident Evil reboots for New Line Cinema and Screen Gems, to develop a live-action adaptation of the survival horror video game F.E.A.R. They will also be working on several other projects together that have yet to be announced. Machinima General Manager Russell Arons had this to say in a statement:

Alain Moussi is best known as a stunt double for everyone from Henry Cavill to Hugh Jackman but he's also an aspiring actor and 2016 is the year when his acting career goes into hyper drive.

Earlier this year Moussi starred as Charlie Nash in the four part "Street Fighter: Resurrection" (a second season is in the works) mini series but his biggest role yet is still to come: Kurt Sloane.

A remake of the 1989 Jean-Claude Van Damme vehicle Kickboxer, Kickboxer: Vengeance stars Moussi in the lead role of a kick boxer who travels to Thailand to avenge the death of his brother at the hands of Tong Po (Dave Bautista). Before facing off against Tong, Kurt trains with his brother's former trainer Master Durand, played with gusto by Van Damme.

Following its panel at San Diego Comic-Con, Machinima and Hasbro have unveiled the full trailer for the upcoming digital series "Transformers: Combiner Wars" which premieres August 2nd on go90.

Set four decades after the great war on Earth, the Autobots and Decepticons have disbanded and returned to Cybertron. With the days of Optimus Prime and Megatron over, Cybertron is now ruled by a triumvirate. However, an ancient technology has enabled a new threat, the power for multiple Transformers to combine into one massive, dangerous form: Combiners.

Eric Calderon ("Afro Samurai") serves as executive producer with George Krstic ("Star Wars: The Clone Wars") as Head Writer and Fj Desanto as a series writer. Also today, the voice cast for the series has been announced:

Machinima and Hasbro have released an exciting new trailer their great-looking new animated web series Transformers: Combiner Wars. This sucker was made for the hardcore fans of the original series of the '80s, and it looks like it's going to deliver something that fans are going to love.

We've already seen four prelude episodes for the series that you can check out here featuring the characters Optimus Prime, Victorion, Starscream, and Windblade. Those were cool and all, but this trailer for the actual series is so much more exciting!

The latest piece of content to arrive on Verizon’s Go90 service comes from Machinima. The gaming and pop culture network is behind Street Fighter: Resurrection, which adapts its titular fighting game franchise in dark and gritty fashion.

The team behind Resurrection, creator Joey Ansah’s World Warrior Limited, first began producing Street Fighter fan films independently. In 2012, World Warrior joined forces with Capcom, the publisher behind the Street Fighter games, for Assassin’s Fist, a web series that would ultimately be distributed by Machinima. Assassin’s Fist performed well, generating 17 million views across all its episodes, though it has since been removed from YouTube.

That film, Street Fighter: Legacy, became a viral sensation, amassing over 5 million hits on YouTube, which lead to these martial artists coming back to make Street Fighter: Assassin's Fist in 2014, a 12-episode web series for Machinima. The same team behind that series is back with an all-new miniseries, Street Fighter: Resurrection, debuting on Machinima's new go90 channel today, March 15. Street Fighter legend, Charlie Nash is back from the dead; but whose side is he on? Street Fighter: Resurrection, Machinima’s newest live action series, launches Tuesday, March 15th exclusively on go90. Resurrection features Christian Howard and Mike Moh reprising their Assassin's Fist roles of Ken and Ryu. Alain Moussi stars as Nash. Though the web series will focus on Nash and his fight against Shadaloo, if Nash is involved, certainly we have to get a cameo of Guile, right? Scott Adkins has long been the fan favorite to play the character and he's good friends with director Joey Ansah. Machinima is producing another dark, gritty story based on a popular video game franchise, and its latest work looks just as compelling as any of its previous work. The network focused on gaming and fan culture has shared the trailer for Street Fighter: Resurrection, which will premiere on Verizon’s Go90 platform on March 15th.

Resurrection, which Machinima revealed late last year, is a follow-up to the network’s previous take on the Street Fighter franchise, 2014’s Assassin’s Fist. That series, which scored more than 17 million views, proved to be a hit, though it was later removed from Machinima’s YouTube channel. In producing Resurrection, Machinima seems to have adopted an “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” approach. The creative team that made Assassin’s Fist, led by creator Joey Ansah, is back on board, and they’ve returned to the same low-lit, stylish look for Resurrection.
