Embattled actor Jonathan Majors is back on the big screen this spring thanks to the upcoming sports drama, Magazine Dreams, marking his first theatrical appearance since his assault and harassment conviction in 2023.

During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Briarcliff Entertainment CEO Tom Ortenberg teased what to expect from Magazine Dreams after his studio acquired the film's rights from the Disney-owned Searchlight Pictures amid Majors' legal woes. According to Ortenberg, Briarcliff will show Magazine Dreams in 800 theaters, possibly increasing its distribution should demand pick up. “Anecdotally, we know that Black audiences — both men and women — are extremely enthused about the film,” he said. “There is also pent-up demand from the art house audience, which has been waiting for it since Sundance. And the bodybuilding audience is enormously enthused about this film.”

In December 2023, Jonathan Majors walked through a dense thicket of news cameras and climbed into the back of a black Chevy Suburban pulling away from the criminal courthouse in lower Manhattan. After a highly publicized trial, Majors had just learned that a jury convicted him of one count of misdemeanor third-degree assault and one count of second-degree harassment of his ex-girlfriend, British dancer Grace Jabbari. Inside the hushed car, a member of his legal team turned around from the front seat and delivered the next piece of news. “He goes, ‘I’m just gonna tell you now,’” Majors says. “That way you’re not surprised, and you can start processing it. Per Variety, Knight has joined the cast of Stranger Things: The First Shadow, a stage play opening in 2025 that's based on the Netflix series. Amazon’s streaming platform has ordered Obsession, which follows two people who fall fast and hard for one another — only for the relationship to end in murder. The series is based on Catherine Ryan Howard’s best-selling novel 56 Days.

Jonathan Majors’ team has once again claimed they are in possession of “irrefutable proof” of the actor’s innocence after reports Wednesday that other women have come forward and are working with Manhattan prosecutors.

“Jonathan Majors is innocent and has not abused anyone,” Majors’ attorney Priya Chaudhry said in a statement to TheWrap. “We have provided irrefutable evidence to the District Attorney that the charges are false. We are confident that he will be fully exonerated.”

Amazon Studios is going back to the early days of the Covid-19 pandemic for its latest TV project.

The tech giant’s studio arm is developing a TV thriller based on 56 Days, a best-selling 2021 novel by Catherine Ryan Howard. Lisa Zwerling (ER, When We Rise) and Karyn Usher (Bones, Prison Break) are adapting the book, and M3GAN producer James Wan’s Atomic Monster banner is producing along with Amazon Studios.

Howard wrote 56 Days during pandemic lockdowns in Dublin in 2020, and it’s set in that time as well. The logline reads, “56 Days is a psychological thriller that tells the story of an intense, erotic romance that turns deadly. It follows two young professionals, striking out on their own in a new city, who are entangled quickly in a charged relationship that leads to a powerful intimacy that is soon cracked open by their secrets … and to murder.”

According to police, the victim, who was not identified, “sustained minor injuries to her head and neck and was removed to an area hospital in stable condition.”

NYPD released the following statement to TheWrap: “On Saturday, March 25, 2023 at approximately 1114 hours, police responded to a 911 call inside of an apartment located within the confines of the 10 Precinct. A preliminary investigation determined that a 33-year-old male was involved in a domestic dispute with a 30 year-old female. The victim informed police she was assaulted. Officers placed the 33-year-old male into custody without incident.”

I just read an article @THR about supposed ‘funeral screenings’ of #Batgirl and the possibility afterwards that the film footage would be destroyed.

Through 18 seasons of Grey's Anatomy, there have been plenty of changes.

Some of the biggest changes come from the cast, as any show that has been on as long as Grey's has surely seen plenty of cast exits.

Luckily, the cast that departed early in the series (or even more recently) can still be seen in other projects. So where are they now?

Isaiah Washington portrayed Dr. Preston Burke for the first three seasons of Grey's Anatomy.

Washington also returned as a guest on Grey's Anatomy Season 10 after Cristina left Grey Sloan.

Since leaving Seattle Grace, the actor has remained steady in both TV and film, having been in the main cast of The 100 through The 100 Season 5.

He's also appeared in shows such as Blue Bloods, Bull, Law & Order: LA, and was recurring during Survivor's Remorse Season 4.

Exclusive: Emmy winner Carrie Preston (The Good Fight) has signed on to star alongside Paul Giamatti and Da’Vine Joy Randolph in the Miramax film The Holdovers, from two-time Oscar winner and seven-time nominee Alexander Payne.

The dramedy written by Whiskey Cavalier creator David Hemingson follows Paul Hunham (Giamatti), a teacher at a prestigious academy who nobody likes—not his students, not his fellow faculty, not the headmaster, who all find his pomposity and rigidity exasperating. With no family and nowhere to go over Christmas holiday in 1970, Paul remains at school to supervise students unable to journey home. After a few days, only one student holdover remains—a trouble-making 15-year-old named Angus, a good student whose bad behavior always threatens to get him expelled.

Joining Paul and Angus is the school’s head cook Mary (Randolph), who caters to sons of privilege and whose own son was recently lost in Vietnam.

Emmy winner Carrie Preston will return to The Good Fight in Season 6—directing one episode, and reprising her fan-favorite role as attorney Elsbeth Tascioni.

The Paramount+ legal drama co-created, showrun and exec produced by Robert and Michelle King is a spinoff of the legal and political drama The Good Wife, which has seen attorney Diane Lockhart (Christine Baranski) starting from scratch at a new firm, after losing her life savings. Season 6 has Diane feeling like she’s going crazy, struggling with an uneasy sense of déjà vu, with everything from Roe v. Wade to voting rights to Cold War aggressions returning. Meanwhile, the lawyers of Reddick & Associates wonder if the violence that they see all around them points to an impending civil war. As Diane finds herself getting further from reality this season, suddenly she and Elsbeth (Preston) are in a similar headspace.

FX released the first trailer for its limited drama series “Under the Banner of Heaven,” on Wednesday. The series from “When We Rise” creator Dustin Lance Black stars Andrew Garfield as a detective who’s also a Latter-Day Saints Elder trying to get to the bottom of a brutal murder that he suspects is tied to the Mormon church. It will premiere later this year exclusively on Hulu.

The trailer takes his character, Detective Pyre, from the bloody crime scene to the dark corners and fields of Utah as he asks himself, “I wonder how something so horrific could have come to pass.” The series is based on the bestselling nonfiction book by “Into Thin Air” author Jon Krakauer about a real-life double murder in 1984.

The logline: “A devout detective’s faith is tested as he investigates a brutal murder that seems to be connected to an esteemed Utah family...

FX is behind the new crime thriller series “Under The Banner of Heaven,” inspired by the true-crime novel penned by Jon Krakauer. The White Lotus star Murray Bartlett is a very busy man: Just weeks after booking a role in Hulu’s Chippendales limited series, the actor has revealed that he will also appear in Season 2 of Apple TV+’s Physical, our sister site Variety reports.

In an exclusive newsbreak, Deadline has announced that the upcoming "Batgirl" movie has added Ivory Aquino to the cast, and those who speculated the character calling for "Alanna" was actually for the comic book character Alysia Yeoh have been proven correct. Aquino joins the cast which includes Leslie Grace ("In the Heights"), J.K. Simmons ("Spider-Man: No Way Home"), Brendan Fraser ("The Mummy"), Michael Keaton ("Batman"), and Jacob Scipio ("Bad Boys for Life"). Aquino is playing Barbara Gordon's best friend, Alysia Yeoh, with the film based on the "Batgirl" DC comics from writer Gail Simone and artist Ardian Syaf.

Barbara Gordon has officially found her roommate.

Ivory Aquino has been cast in the HBO Max feature film “Batgirl” as Alysia Yeoh, the best friend of the titular superhero, a.k.a. Barbara Gordon (Leslie Grace).

Both Aquino and Yeoh are transgender, marking the first time a live-action feature film adaptation of a DC Comics title will feature an openly trans character. Yeoh first appeared in a 2011 issue of “Batgirl” written by Gail Simone and penciled by Ardian Syaf.

News of Aquino’s casting first leaked online in mid-January after Grace posted a photo seemingly from the set of the film to her Instagram story, tagging Aquino and captioning the shot (of two women crossing the street) with “Barbara and Alysia...

Exclusive: Carrie Preston has boarded John Logan’s untitled feature directorial debut at Blumhouse, which has been billed as a Lgbtqia+ empowerment movie set at a gay conversion camp. The project from the three-time Oscar nominee was previously known as Whistler Camp.

Preston joins the already cast Theo Germaine and Kevin Bacon, the latter who is also serving as executive producer. Jason Blum and Michael Aguilar are producing. Scott Turner Schofield is also serving as EP.

For seven seasons, Preston starred as Arlene Fowler, the sassy red-headed waitress on the hit HBO series True Blood. She won an Emmy playing Elsbeth Tascioni on CBS’ The Good Wife and recurred in the same role on its spinoff The Good Fight. She also recurred for five years on CBS’ Person of Interest playing Grace, the love interest to her real-life husband, Michael Emerson.

Preston can now be seen on TNT’s series Claws as Polly.

Dustin Lance Black will produce Icelandic horror Rift under a new slate deal between XYZ Films and Wayward Entertainment.

The project is the first to be announced under the arrangement to go into production and will see the companies partner on a pipeline of filmmaker-driven genre films across all platforms over the next two years.

Black will produce the English-language reimagining of Erlingur Thoroddsen’s Icelandic horror Rift and is about two men whose broken relationship is tested as they are haunted by a supernatural entity awakened by their grief.

Production is scheduled to begin this winter.

Rift is an atmospheric thriller which follows two guys whose broken relationship is tested as they are haunted by a supernatural entity awakened by their emotional turmoil and grief. Cameras will roll this winter.

Rift joins Wayward Entertainment’s previously announced Nick Frost and Simon Pegg production Svalta, which we first told you about. XYZ is also teaming with Wayward on Svalta.

Thoroddsen, who recently wrapped filming on The Piper for Millennium Media, will return to write and direct Rift.
