It's been more than a year since Jonathan Majors, best known for his role as Kang the Conqueror in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, was charged with assault and harassment against his ex-girlfriend, British dancer Grace Jabbari. Since then, his life has taken a drastic turn, from a rising Hollywood star to being fired by Marvel and his entertainment agency, as well as going through a 52-week domestic violence intervention program. In more recent news, however, Majors has broken his silence on his own harrowing experiences, particularly during his childhood.
Prior to his arrest in March 2023, Jonathan Majors was on track to possibly reach the pinnacle of his career, with Creed III becoming a box office hit and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania casting him as Kang the Conqueror, the apparent heir to Marvel's most iconic villain, Thanos. However, things changed when a jury determined Majors guilty of domestic violence, sparking...

Jonathan Majorsbecame best known for portraying Kang the Conqueror in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and his Emmy-nominated performance in Lovecraft Country before his blossoming career came to a halt after a 2023 conviction for misdemeanor assault and harassment against his ex-partner, Grace Jabbari. Majors, who pleaded not guilty to all charges and was acquitted on other counts, now faces an uphill battle for a comeback. In a recent cover story for The Hollywood Reporter, Majors and other industry insiders interviewed discuss that possibility. Majors has an upcoming project coming out later this month, Magazine Dreams, and its reception should indicate how feasible a comeback is for the actor.
Magazine Dreams centers on an amateur bodybuilder (portrayed by Majors) who dreams of making it big in professional weightlifting competitions. Directed by Elijah Bynum, it premiered at Sundance 2023 to critical acclaim, with much praise for Majors' performance. The film was set for release...

Embattled actor Jonathan Majors is back on the big screen this spring thanks to the upcoming sports drama, Magazine Dreams, marking his first theatrical appearance since his assault and harassment conviction in 2023.
During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Briarcliff Entertainment CEO Tom Ortenberg teased what to expect from Magazine Dreams after his studio acquired the film's rights from the Disney-owned Searchlight Pictures amid Majors' legal woes. According to Ortenberg, Briarcliff will show Magazine Dreams in 800 theaters, possibly increasing its distribution should demand pick up. “Anecdotally, we know that Black audiences — both men and women — are extremely enthused about the film,” he said. “There is also pent-up demand from the art house audience, which has been waiting for it since Sundance. And the bodybuilding audience is enormously enthused about this film.”

In December 2023, Jonathan Majors walked through a dense thicket of news cameras and climbed into the back of a black Chevy Suburban pulling away from the criminal courthouse in lower Manhattan. After a highly publicized trial, Majors had just learned that a jury convicted him of one count of misdemeanor third-degree assault and one count of second-degree harassment of his ex-girlfriend, British dancer Grace Jabbari. Inside the hushed car, a member of his legal team turned around from the front seat and delivered the next piece of news. “He goes, ‘I’m just gonna tell you now,’” Majors says. “That way you’re not surprised, and you can start processing it. They fired you. Marvel fired you.’”
Before his arrest that March, Majors was fresh off the Warner Bros. box office hit Creed III, the Marvel movie Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and an Emmy nomination for the HBO series Lovecraft Country.

Jonathan Majors loses another major role in 48 Hours in Vegas following his legal drama and firing from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Majors' role in the project, which focused on Dennis Rodman's trip to Las Vegas, has been released by Lionsgate. Despite the loss, the film may find new life elsewhere, but Majors' career is looking bleak as he awaits sentencing.
The fallout of Jonathan Majors’ ongoing legal drama continues, with the beleaguered actor losing another major role in 48 Hours in Vegas weeks after being fired from playing Kang in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The controversy surrounding the actor came to public attention when he was arrested on accusations of assault in March 2023, and he would later be convicted in December of misdemeanor assault and harassment. Shortly after the announcement of his verdict, Marvel Studios announced they had cut ties with Majors, though they have not yet revealed their intentions regarding his character.

Ah Hollywood. The evil temptress where talent often overshadows any sort of character flaw. Many people claim it to be a new development with the advent of social media, where a person tweets out something dumb ten years ago only to have it brought back up when they have a new Netflix movie dropping. But actually, celebrities have seen their careers implode long before people posted pictures of their dinners online for the world to see. Think back to the story of Roscoe “Fatty” Arbuckle, one of the highest-paid silent film stars of the era whose talent and fame were overshadowed when a woman was assaulted and subsequently died at a party hosted by the famed comedian. Arbuckle was acquitted of the crimes, but his career never recovered. We have never seen a career implosion like we witnessed in 2023 when an emerging talent had a genuine break-out year that was...

Jonathan Majors returned to the MCU in the second season of Loki, despite personal controversy surrounding him. Rumors of a spinoff for his character have emerged. Kasra Farahani, director of the most recent episode of Loki, expressed surprise at Majors' legal situation and praised the actor's professionalism and the positive experience on set. Majors' character in Loki, Victor Timely, differs from the comic book version. He is depicted as a 19th century inventor. This deviation aligns with the McU's interpretation of characters.
Despite being the subject of personal controversy, Jonathan Majors returned to the MCU in the second season of Loki, establishing the foundations of his iteration of Kang the Conqueror. Most of the franchise's stars, executives and employees have remained silent regarding allegations against the actor, but one of the directors of the acclaimed series has spoken on the matter.
Majors has been working in the industry for just six years.

Colman Domingo has more than earned the awards season he’s about to have. This great American actor, who is perhaps best known for his Emmy-winning turn on HBO’s Euphoria, has been doing standout work on stage and screen for decades, but not until George C. Wolfe’s Rustin — which had its world premiere at the Telluride Film Festival on Thursday and screened again here, at the Chuck Jones Cinema, on Friday — was he ever given the chance to play the lead in a major motion picture. Unsurprisingly, he made the very most of the opportunity, which reunited him with his Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom director, and he now seems well on his way to a best actor Oscar nomination.

The March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom is known to most Americans for Martin Luther King’s galvanizing “I Have a Dream” speech. That oratory milestone appears in Rustin, but from the perspective of the title character. He wasn’t in the spotlight that August day in 1963, but Bayard Rustin was the visionary conceptualizer and day-to-day driving force of one of the largest political rallies in American history. A riveting Colman Domingo, reteaming with director George C. Wolfe after Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, inhabits the role of a fascinating man whose name and story should be more widely known.

Exclusive: Mary-Louise Parker (Weeds), Carrie-Anne Moss (The Matrix franchise), Isabelle Fuhrman (The Novice) and Liana Liberato (To the Bone) have signed on to star in Justine Bateman’s upcoming feature Face, based on her 2021 bestseller, Face: One Square Foot of Skin.
The film penned by Bateman consists of 14 vignettes, both comedic and dramatic, which look at women’s faces getting older, and why that makes people angry. While much of society appears to assume that women’s faces are somehow broken and need to be fixed, Face reveals some of the many ways in which women, and those around them, allow this idea to take root at all.
Parker will play Tanya, an actress balancing her need to use her face for her job and the pressure to not move it at all, with Moss as Mrs. Foster, a kindergarten teacher whose young students remind her of the magical functionality of the face.

“Batgirl” star Ivory Aquino took to social media to state the case for why the diverse “underdog” DC installment should be released.
Warner Bros. Discovery confirmed earlier this month that “Batgirl,” starring Leslie Grace, Jk Simmons, Michael Keaton, and Brendan Fraser, would no longer receive an HBO Max or any release. The film was directed by “Ms. Marvel” and “Bad Boys for Life” filmmakers Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah and still in the post-production phase, with VFX effects still needed.
Aquino, who was set to become the first trans actor in a live-action DC film and played Barbara Gordon, aka Batgirl’s best friend, tweeted a letter to Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav to release the feature.
“As much as ‘Batgirl ‘has been labeled a woke film, it simply came together that way because of writing that reflects the world we live in,” Aquino wrote. “As one of...

“Batgirl” actor Ivory Aquino is speaking out about Warner Bros.’ decision to indefinitely shelve the DC film. In an emotional letter addressed to Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslov, Aquino — who played the best friend of Barbara Gordon (a.k.a. Batgirl) — pleaded for the studio executive to rethink the alleged plan to permanently destroy the movie’s footage.
“As one of many who poured our hearts into the making of this movie, I ask that this measure be reconsidered,” Aquino wrote Wednesday night on Twitter. “As much as I’ve tried my best to be strong these past few weeks, I’d find myself crying, for lack of a better term, from grief, and tonight was one of those nights.”
A letter to #DavidZaslav @Wbd
Dear Mr. Zaslav,
I just read an article @THR about supposed ‘funeral screenings’ of #Batgirl and the possibility afterwards that the film footage would be destroyed.

Through 18 seasons of Grey's Anatomy, there have been plenty of changes.
Some of the biggest changes come from the cast, as any show that has been on as long as Grey's has surely seen plenty of cast exits.
Luckily, the cast that departed early in the series (or even more recently) can still be seen in other projects. So where are they now?
Isaiah Washington -- Dr. Preston Burke
Isaiah Washington portrayed Dr. Preston Burke for the first three seasons of Grey's Anatomy.
Washington also returned as a guest on Grey's Anatomy Season 10 after Cristina left Grey Sloan.
Since leaving Seattle Grace, the actor has remained steady in both TV and film, having been in the main cast of The 100 through The 100 Season 5.
He's also appeared in shows such as Blue Bloods, Bull, Law & Order: LA, and was recurring during Survivor's Remorse Season 4.

“I was born into a Mormon home and raised in a devout Mormon home,” reveals Dustin Lance Black, the creator, co-writer and co-executive producer of the limited series “Under the Banner of Heaven” from FX on Hulu. “As a kid I started wondering why my mother was treated so differently in this faith that, I will be frank, I really cared for. It felt like home. It’s all I knew. Those questions about why my mother was treated differently, why the church did not intervene when violence entered our home, why they seemed to place the blame at her feet. Those questions ate away at me because I wasn’t allowed to ask them.” We talked to Black as part of our “Meet the Experts” TV showrunners panel. Watch our exclusive video interview above.

Exclusive: Emmy winner Carrie Preston (The Good Fight) has signed on to star alongside Paul Giamatti and Da’Vine Joy Randolph in the Miramax film The Holdovers, from two-time Oscar winner and seven-time nominee Alexander Payne.
The dramedy written by Whiskey Cavalier creator David Hemingson follows Paul Hunham (Giamatti), a teacher at a prestigious academy who nobody likes—not his students, not his fellow faculty, not the headmaster, who all find his pomposity and rigidity exasperating. With no family and nowhere to go over Christmas holiday in 1970, Paul remains at school to supervise students unable to journey home. After a few days, only one student holdover remains—a trouble-making 15-year-old named Angus, a good student whose bad behavior always threatens to get him expelled.
Joining Paul and Angus is the school’s head cook Mary (Randolph), who caters to sons of privilege and whose own son was recently lost in Vietnam.

Today the world is a different place. Mother Earth is missing one of her most unique children, the laugh, ferocity, kindness, gentleness and artistry of one of her most beautiful boys, Michael Kenneth Williams. A member of this great human race, of this incredibly challenging and rewarding industry, a Brooklyn boy through and through, and one of my dearest of friends and brothers.
I met Michael on a steaming day in San Francisco. The year was 2016, and it was my first job. We were to play the same character, that of the late Ken Jones, an LGBTQ rights activist, in the mini-series “When We Rise.” Though we shared no scenes, we shared the same spirit, being assigned the same role. The time we spent eating, talking, praying, laughing, built a bond and connection that would then serve as the bedrock of our second coming together in HBO’s “Lovecraft Country.
